Starting around 1987 the heads started to become slightly more square like the m:tron guy there. At the end of 1991 the blocked open-stud heads started production at which point the heads went back to a similar roundness as the original ones, and the filled-stud heads stopped showing up in sets. The fact that you thought it was a bootleg is why the cunts at lego brand™ bricklink don't trust "afols" with the most obvious of mold variations anymore
