Better Brachiosaurus? That actually has articulation? The Lego JW vidya one was great and should have been a no brainer to include. And they could have sold it for more.
Not having the Raptor Pen set be a slapdash job at the last minute and marketed to toddlers? For $40? Just for Muldoon and a raptor?
The Jeeps builds being too bulky? (And I mean JEEP, not the Explorer tour car that casuals like to call Jeeps.)

No, but it would allow other threads in the catalog to exist a little longer, which is especially important with this stupid new rule that threads existing for more than 2 weeks get auto-saged. New LEGO generals are popping up every 3 to 4 days now. I just think for the sake of being good neighbours we should only make a new thread when it’s absolutely necessary and try to confine all LEGO discussion to the general. Finally, BTAS sets.
It feels like DC got the shitty end of the stick for years, while Marvel got all the love. In the past couple of years, it feels like the tables have turned. DC is pure quality, whilst Marvel became shit.
I hope the minifigures are in other sets, as it's rumored. I don't want to buy a "thing but made of Lego" set.

For me it ends around 2000/2001 but mostly because that's the last time I got a set as a kid. I was around 12 so was growing out of them. I grew up with 80s and 90s lego sets.

early 2000s lego is closer to classic style than what came after
starting from like around 2005 the general consistent style of faceprinting, print and colourchoices became very different and "sanitized" compared to the whackier experiments of 2001-2005, this also coincided with the use of bley and newer style city fenders and car chassis pieces.
I wasn't really fond of those and when I kinda started to drop the hobby for a while until the second or third cmf series dropped with a fuggen mummy and blacktron cyborg wich pulled me back in.

I bought the castle, then immediately regretted it.
Should’ve picked up the snack bar and a few high-end plushies I had my eye on.
Now the snack bar and the plushies are gone and I’m stuck with Castle Cuckqueen.

I was a kid around the same time as you but true classic lego ends in either 1999 (first license with star wars) or the early 2000s (first browns and fleshies NBA and Star Wars)
Early 2010s is another sea change as more original themes got killed off in favour of licenses and pseudolicenses

Probably, even if they aren't really a proper theme anymore they're pretty popular

I like it because I love the skylines architecture themes, not just because of licensed slop. It's cool looking even if you ignore the Batman stuff. But if you really like Batman, I imagine it's extra cool.

Fair point of view. For me personally, if I like a certain theme, I'd rather have nothing than a bastardization packed into a different black hole slop theme, but perhaps that's just me. Maybe I'm just desperate but my favorite theme is Fantasy Castle from the late 2000s. The Ninjago DnD subtheme a couple years ago managed to scratch that itch in a similar manner. My main point is that I don't think Lego will ever do an original fantasy theme like that again if it wasn't for Ninjago but that's my opinion.
That being said, Ninjago's mechslop is awful so I can understand the dislike.

So are the two currently available castles, the 3 in 1 castle, except for the limited mini figs is a better castle set than the fantasy era castle which, unlike the rest of the theme, sucks. Something being big and expensive doesn’t make it not a playset, it makes it annoyingly expensive, which is the issue, and the Lego play sets of actual castles have always been annoyingly expensive. I want to analyse the trends of Lego prices over the years but create a better metric than PPP. It would be Price = A*W + B*M where W is the weight, M is the number of minifigs, and A and B are constants determined by the least squares method representing the price per kg and price per minifig of system sets in a particular year.

It's right though. The Castles used to be insanely overpriced for what they were and Lego generally costs roughly the same as it used to when adjusted for inflation, outside of licenced sets which is where the real rusty dildo of modern lego is.

When you compare it to wage growth, they're more expensive, but the inflation vs wage growth debate is a whole different jar of cum and if you don't hate immigrants, you don't get to complain about it.

It’s not a cope, it’s true, that post even points out the actual problem, the loss of cheap sets and still says that current sets are too expensive.

Except people aren't really saying this.
The big sets now are bigger than they have ever been and are almost always 18+ dust collector shit with no playability or toy features so no one here really defends them.
That said sets that are "flagship of a wave" are priced reasonably in line with inflation.
The Ice Planet base is almost the exact same price as the new City space base set despite having 4x as many pieces, more play features more play features and taking up more space.

But that doesn't translate into thinking the $300+ sets are good value or worthwhile because 9/10 the product itself is low value.

Just finished a fourth build of the Creator 3in1 Deep Sea Creatures set. I really like what tge whale brings to my Pirate setup, so I think I will keep it in this model. I switched out about 5 of my own pieces to change the mouth and make it red and not pink abd I gave him some water to shoot out his blow hole.

I have my Pieate Nathaniel Napsalot spear hunting the whale right now

I think the head on the M-tron fig isa transplant from an older set, they stopped making heads with the normal LEGO-stamped solid stud in the late 80s and M-tron is early-mid 90s.
Alternatively: M-tron figs had full helmets while Imperial soldiers only had hats. The action of the chin of the helmet scraping over the face over and over through the year scratched up the paint, while the soldier didn't have that problem with his tricorn.

Why doesn't Lego make Dragon Ball sets? It'd sell well across the globe, especially in Mexico.
All Lego has is a bootleg called Monkie Kid, inb4 both as based on JttW, both are modern sci-fi retellings with Sean Shemmel as part of the cast.

Timmy is the CMF Drone Boy. The Time Cruiser robots got remade in Monkie Kid. The faces they use are remade Explorien/Spyruis robot faces that are on a few other robot figures.

CMF Fright Knight goes with Basil. Pretty much everything in new retro inspired castle sets. Halloween costume Knight girl can be used to make a remade pink crown knight. Various new pirate figures too.

Next year we get Ice Planet 2002 guy and penguin, Mtron guy, a new Blacktron guy. Blacktron were everywhere some anon should have a chart to post of them all somewhere. Ice Planet 2002Captain Cold was in some Lunar New Year set.in civilian cloths

Starting around 1987 the heads started to become slightly more square like the m:tron guy there. I would imagine that the ideas designers probably make way more even at 1% due to the massive volume. U.S amazon alone sells tens of thousands of the plant sets per month. Couple that with Target sales, Wal-Mart, and I could easily see one of the plant set designers making at least a fifty thousand commission check a month, possibly six figures a month. Lego makes a killing off these art sets.

To be frank lego did fell apart but it was from hard kid play/ using the same piece on a daily basis. Ive got clips snaped and burp terain plates broken after few years of playing with them when i was a kid.
In comparison to this sadly nulegos plates brake without any force. Most famous was redish brown dozen years ago, but ive got broken white pieces from dino skeletons set that ive just moced with 3 times.
Atm lego is disney tier, like the all mega coorps theyre fixated on yearly 15% growth of the company. They dont care about "legacy" or some resolutions that could fuck them in the future, all of higherups think is a yearly bonus, if the ship will be compromised they just change it. Lego already have their cult and they know people will buy their crackplastic even if it would be made out of overworked chineese slaves shit. Its not even edgy, just a common knowledge at this point.

I really like this small Carousel Ride 40714 set. It's small and simple, but an effective and playable set. It feels a little expensive at $25, but I can't see them making it cheaper in modern days.

I enjoy the spin mechanism and the 4 small builds for the rides on the Carousel. If you pick this set up and enjoy anything city related, I don't think you will regret it. It can fit into theme park settings, a public park or playground setting, a beach setting, lots of stuff. I have it next to my food truck rally display

Now seriously, you think minifigs would limit what lego could do with mario sets? Like lots of characters would need new molds because they cant make them brickbuilt for minifig scale.

The new Mario sets, my thoughts are:

Sets focused on display and this look better, they don't look like platforms and set pieces in the middle of nowhere.
Bowser train is cute. I love the goombas in hats and the stations for each kingdom.
Finally finishing off the koopalings.
Mario Kart has potential, but let's see

Reveal was really annoying, never have I wanted to strangle a kid more in all my life.
Still using electronic figures, I've given up on minifigures after nearly 5 years.
Brick built figures still look like blocky Minecraft shit.
Bowser train doesn't run on rails. I kinda expected it, it it would be nice to run a Bowser train through my city.
Revealing Mario Kart this early. Either reveal it for coming this year or announce it later this year.
>Overall feelings
Apathy. I feel like Sonic and Animal Crossing are better representing video games as a Lego theme than Mario.

Yeah her and rocket were custom printed from that one place everyone gets them made from but I can’t remember the name
But the modern rocket racer is the one from the CMF race car guy, I would’ve got the black version from that stunts set but it’s crazy expensive for one figure
