Rattlecans are a close second but can be tricky in their own way. Your undercoat is quite important for making your paint stick and it changes the vibrancy of a coat considerably. I often sand the entire surface at 5000-7000, especially if the surface has any sort of friction (like joints), clean the surface thoroughly after sanding in a dust free environment. But watch as many guides and techniques as you have time for, or choose a "look" that you like and research the methods, theres a lot of ways to go about painting and theres a load of chemistry involved with combining/thinning/top coating models with different colours and types of paint for different finishes and effects.
