Like, around the time they came out my childhood innocence was beginning to fade into that bitter preteen realization that the world isn't fun and adventure, it's actually really kind of shitty and a lot of people are total assholes for no reason.
So something about the bright heroism of the Toa descending into depressive, twisted monstrosity really appealed to me. I dunno. I was just in a slump. But I still remember the sets appealing to me because they kind of met me at my level, which with undiagnosed depression and crazy ADHD was really refreshing.
