>>8232234There's a lot of Godzilla fans that seem oddly threatened by the idea that some of the films might have something to say besides just being giant monster wrestling matches, and that the human parts of any of the movies might actually have some value beyond just being window dressing for dinosaurs beating each other up. The characters in Shin Godzilla act like soulless bureaucrats because they're all Japanese government employees, and the film is a direct criticism of the handling of the Fukushima disaster and all of the preventable problems leading up to it that were ignored, as well as a general criticism of Japan's unpreparedness for tragedies on a similar scale. All of this is easy to interpret from just paying even the slightest amount of attention to the movie, but that's not what these guys are here for.
