Not baiting, but while we have received models and toys that look and show how each kaiju has been seen in the KoTM movies, why is it that Mothra is always so blurry? Why hasn't Bandai shown full images of Mothra and specifically her face? No don't post the blue flood lighted gif, thats just as blurry and shows me nothing. All I simply ask for is a clear, image of Mothra and how she actually looks.

You can clearly tell that Ghidorah himself isn't built sturdy though. A ball-joint shouldn't be popping out that easily (mind you that his mouths aren't going to have any real grip on Rodan whatsoever), and his wings sliding out easily seems to be a problem.

NECA's improved a lot from the pacific rim days.
Their first godzilla was 2014 which is only slightly better, and KOTM is retooled from that with the only difference being a fully segmented tail over a bendy wire tip on 2014, and every other godzilla outside of KOTM and Kong Godzilla.
They're great, especially for the price point.
King Kong vs Godzilla/King Goji or GMK are the outright best.
But their 54 is also good if you want a representation of the suit over the puppet like the SHMA.

I think the comments I've read have been pretty consistent so far. It's clear that QC isn't the problem so much that the design simply doesn't lend itself well to a super articulated figure.

People can bitch about his stability all they like, but realistically I don't see any other company doing a better job outside of a statue.

Well it looks like the chip in Ghidorah's horn isn't a QC issue but rather an almost unnoticeable part of his design in the movie. People saying it implies that he's fought Godzilla before and that's cool and all but on the toy it just looks like a broken horn

Well, I was going to cancel and just ignore Amiami. I think I'm going through with him though. I realized the shipping costs would still put it right around market retail for me, and I don't trust amazon.ca to stock him.
Guess I'm buying this big boy. I think I'll do EMS just to get the import charges over with. SAL seems like a risk on something like this

If it means anything, amazon.ca shipped me my Ghidorah (special colors) in only the original brown mailer and nothing happened to him. I don't think it's as fragile as it looks.
I'm also Canadian and I have no idea how the hell I can import this guy and not get raped by any customs.

It's $10 if it's processed by Canada Post + your province's taxes, which can vary. It would be about $10 + 12-13% of your package's declared value for most Canadians.

Getting hit by it is a complete crapshoot, but you're a lot more likely if it's an EMS package. I only use SAL and I think I get hit by customs every 1 in 20? packages, although I rarely order things nowadays.

I'm planning on getting the Gomora figurarts in the future and Red King if he ever gets one. Luckily Amazon seems to have a lot of them and the prices aren't has inflated has Godzilla monsterarts (they are in the 60 - 80 range depending on the seller)

You know what was crazy? aFew years ago at barnes and noble they had three Tokyo SOS Kiryus for half off. furthermore, I had an unlimited 30% off coupon for friends and family(and I was with my sister and nieces) So I could've easily bought up the stock. What QA issues? I mean, they'll all share the same limitations based on the design concept alone. If you're comfortable with that then there's nothing out of the ordinary to be expected. If you look carefully at the OP's video you'll see that the guy didn't plug in the wings all the way. Pretty much every other video I've seen looks pretty secure. The problem is moreso the weight of the wings throwing the whole figure off balance (hence the need for the stands).

I just want to say how much the new Mothra design has grown on me. When I first saw it, I was filled with such autistic rage that I couldn't contain myself from lashing out at anyone who liked such an 'abomination'. In my rage I even lashed out at anyone who voiced support for the newest films, calling them all retards.
But now I can truly appreciate how majestic and glorious the Mothra redesign is. It is a wonderful modern inspiration on a dated design, bringing the beauty of a butterfly with the lethality of a wasp all in one package. If your mind is really in the gutter, I suppose you could say she even has some flea-like traits in her, but I think it speaks volumes that the Queen of the Monsters represents the little guys as well.
Thanks for reading this post. I'm sure everyone here loves new Mothra just as much as me :)

I'm not really a figure person, but the model is way too small for my liking and I'm in the mood to do some repainting. But I'm torn on which Bracer Phoenix to go with. Bandai's seems all around nicer, but smaller. Diamond Select's is bigger and would scale with their Kaiju Drone, but after fiddling with the drone, DS's quality is ehhh... needs a bit more work than paint (which could be a fun project) I hate that figures are always size vs quality and rarely have both

I'd argue the floodlights don't help nearly as much as the colour separation on the characters to make out the scene. I think Iron Man 3 benefited from that too.

I've seen NECA's Atomic Breath Shin Godzilla and "Vs King Kong" Godzilla in my local nerd store for about £35 each. Are they any good? I haven't actually seen either film (yet; I have Shin on Blu-Ray and can't wait to watch it, and KKvG's suit looks very similar to the '54 suit anyway) but I need a Godzilla on my shelf.

One of the few things that are keeping me on the fence is 1) Can he close his mouth all the way (like bottom teen close up with the top teeth)? and 2) his neck looks a just a little bit too chubby with how it's rounded at the bottom, but I get they have to do that for articulations sake.

In the promo shot it looks like he's wearing turtle neck, but I can see that's not so much the case from these in had pics.

They've done 2-packs before like with Space Godzilla and Little, and I think this is the cheapest 2-pack yet. They'll almost certainly release a repaint of Mothra with some blue hues, and possibly Rodan with some orange. Whether those will also be bundled is a mystery.

Same shit happened with Banjo Kazooie reveal in smash. Grant Kirkhope or whatever, responded to someone wanting Banjo in smash before the reveal with something like "I see a pig flying" which means something unlikely is happening. But then he back pedaled and was all like "uh uh, where I'm from seeing a pig fly means it impossible, sorry for the confusion" then like 2 weeks later we got the reveal.

I personally prefer Atomic Shin. I find the head and mouth sculpt of the original release distracting whereas the open split mouth of the Atomic version negates this for me. In my case, I got SHMA for vanilla Shin and NECA for atomic breath version.

Besides, in the movie, Shin only started to move more when he was going crazy with the atomic lasers, so the NECA Atomic Shin fills my want for a Shin Godzilla toy that I can put in more dynamic poses.

I don’t think you understand how hard it is to make something CGI look real with all the light sources that come with daytime. Nighttime reduces the amount of lights interacting with your CG models that you have to deal with and making the monsters wet helps make the lights look better without taking away realism when they do hit the CG models. I’m pretty sure their goal was to not kill their outsourced animation teams.

He's like a 7/10. He's about worth the ~180, but I wouldn't pay any late tax on him when there's a fair chance of a recolor. What the recolor will not have however are quadruped mode wings, so if you really really want to display him on all fours, you're SOL.
I'd say get him, and if they release an update you can sell this one and get 75% of your money back.

Worst thing he's done is have wings slipping off but thats kinda expected when i've got him held at an angle. After messing around a bit i've figured out how they go on and he conquers the shelf. Wings are a bit frustrating at first and i've had a few pop offs here and there but i think that was just getting the joints warmed up cause i haven't had any problems since.

Now that the dust has settled and reviews are coming in more and more, did you pre-order King Ghidorah? Last chance preorders are available on bigbadtoystore (ships sometime this month) and Awesome Collector (ships in August). With more popular people's reviews on the horizon, it'll probably be sold out.
The common census right now is the figure is really good with a few problems
-Misaligned jaws
-due to the way you put his wings on, no articulation in his upper and lower chest plus no articulation on his wings
-its a coin flip if your figure's wings and tail are loose or tight
-bland color for his entire body
-might be too big to pose

Me again. Just bought Atomic Breath Shin. He's not perfect, but he's alright, especially for the size and price.

The sculpt is (mostly) pretty good, I haven't compared it to the movie model or anything but it looks cool even if it's missing the finer details like the extra claws on his toes. Paint is surprisingly decent, again not perfect but definitely good for the pricepoint. Articulation and build quality are a bit suspect here and there though- one of his legs likes to pop off way too easily, the neck swivel and tail joints are kinda loose and the tail (which was a sod to attach) is bizarrely engineered. Range of motion is about what I expected, not amazing but ShinG isn't a terribly dynamic character, but I do wish the tail was a bit better and tighter.

Overall though I do like him quite a lot, and given how expensive the Monsterarts is (especially the Awakening version) I'm satisfied. Also the beams are great and I love how well he photographs with flash. He's easily the best thing I've ever got from NECA. Plus he actually stands!

I will say I wish he came with either an "Atomic Vomit" effect or some spinal beams for his anti-air shenanigans, but he's still cool. Also the choice to use a metal rod inside the plastic beams instead of a clear peg is a good one.

-powered up Godzilla, blue veins in its body, taller than the regular release and with a blue beam that isn't a stupid detachable mouth
-burning Godzilla, special stand with Mothra wings on it to simulate the blast, special head attachment with a headless Ghidorah lighting up blue
-special color Mothra, all white and translucent, no accessories
-special color Rodan, only difference is the lower part of the rings have a fiery effect like in the movie, probably comes with 10 small fighters and the Argo

It was sculpted with a longer tail but that part was scrapped due to packaging size limitations. so they just connected the end piece to where that scraped section belonged.

Can't agree on you with that one anon. The colors on the dorsal plates and beams just doesn't accurately represent the movie in my opinion.

Not to mention with clear or translucent beams and dorsal plates, you can shine light through them to give them the look of being pure energy that creates light. The NECA can't do that.

I like the simplicity and presentation as well as the HUD of DAMM better. Plus the sound effects sounded much harder and felt like big impacts. Especially when you heard the CRUNCH.

I also to this day have no idea what all the dozens of symbols next to monsters on the select screen means.

I recently picked this up for Gamecube and all the lists online say it has the ability to use progressive scan.

But every other game I own that has it makes a menu pop up to confirm if you wanna turn it on or not.

But nothing happens with King Kong. Are the lists just inaccurate?

Hoping for a 64 Godzilla and Mothra from neca this SDCC. I would literally die if they did it. Neca seems to excel with Showa godzilla over any other era. Though they haven't done much with Millennium. Hoping for a 2000 and a 2004 as well.
