If you're just using it for yourself in your city the main advatages are the ability to easily remove and exchange modules without having to remove tiles etc. Since the modules are 4 plates high you can do lot's of terrain stuff including water features. And if you want to add lights you can put all the cables into the modules itself. To me though it just looks great and it's the perfect solutions if you got modular buildings and don't want to at cardboards under them.
