I dug out my Apocalypse wave Wolverine this week after not seeing him for ages. Boy, all the complaining I did about the inexplicable metallic paint on the Mafex and AY Wolverines, and turns out even Hasbro did it. I can't really fathom why his shoulder pads are metallic blue but his gloves, undies, and boots aren't. It's a weird choice and really stands out.
The 3-pack Wolverine doesn't have the metallic pads, but the yellow hews more toward "canary," and I prefer more of a "cheddar cheese." Also, they merged the tiger stripes into one chunk on that figure, like in the cartoon, and I prefer them as singles.
