Pirates was going, Classic Town was going, Castle was going.
It was really in my opinion the highpoint. Not to say that the 90s were bad, for the most part the 90s can be considered a plateau phase that followed that peak and held for about 10ish years. Of course, that plateau started to end around the year 2000.
That cozy atmosphere in the OP's pic was truly the core of old LEGO.
