A 32x32 baseplate is 10 inches square, and the average folding table people would build on is 29 inches by 6 feet. That's 3x7 baseplates. Roads and sidewalks are gonna take up a whole baseplate of width in the middle if you want them to fit more detailed vehicles comfortably (see: not cluttered) instead of 6-wide city stuff touching the curb with one wheel and the yellow line with the other. Every side street is gonna take up a baseplate of length. Pic related is what a single table can fit and each modular takes up a whole square.
