>>6341929>I have no clue why they come with the weird figuresBecause Lego spent a billion dollars on market research and finally came up with a product that they could sell to girls. For decades, Lego had been trying to tap dat girl market, but all their efforts were low on returns. Homemaker seemed to work decently enough because girls like building klocki just like boys, but that was back in the seventies and they were unable to hold enough of a girl market to bother. Despite Paradisa's meme status, the line wasn't very successful at bringing girls in. Neither were Belville, Scala, or Clikits.
Girls love the shit out of minidolls, though.
From what the Lego Store peons who post in the /lg/ say, Friends/DisneyPrincess/Elves sets are their main sellers. Most department stores with a Lego aisle now have a separate pink-and-purple aisle that's entirely full of girl Legos. Ten years ago that would have been a ludicrous dream for TLG.
>tl;dr minidolls exist because they make Lego lots of money
