They didn't even bother trying to make this the next big thing. A real pity since the setting and background lore actually get interesting in comparison to say, 13+ seasons without any proper consistency or coherent lore that doesn't get rewritten whenever the writers trap themselves with their plot holes. (Fuck Ninjago.)
