The Target Fall Geek Out Event items are already starting to show up in stores around the country. There's also Target.com placeholders up for figures.

Hunchback Leo, Bride April, Neutrinos 3-pack, Rock Soldiers & Crooked Ninja Turtle Goon, Smash & Zach, Usagi Yojimbo, cartoon Tokka & Rahzar, and possibly more.

There's been some buzz that Target is locking the items to September 1st though. We won't know more till we hear more finds.

Ya, but I like watching a video of it to really see what all the articulation can do. For example how well does the base of the next work, the torso bend, the elbows and knees. And I know you can mostly infer this through pictures, but seeing the actual figure in motion is what I prefer (which is why it annoys me when reviewers are bad at properly showcasing articulation). It is looking stellar though, and I'm looking forward to seeing what's next. The lion's got most of my attention of the teased ones so far.

Waiting for a final review, but I'm definitely interested. I only have super7 and neca movie turtles displayed(also have a full set of figuarts somewhere), and since the toy leatherhead is so goofy I wouldn't mind having a realistic one to fudge into the movie figures.

I don't know much about TNMT, but I had the original TMNT NES game as a kid and I remember liking it a lot. I also had a figure of Splinter, was the only figure from the series I had. Looking online for it, but it's proving to be a little harder than I thought finding it. It was small and pretty cheap looking, and it was around the mid to late 90s when I got it.

Weird feet engineering aside, which seems like it can mostly be ignored, this looks really good, and much heftier and bigger than I expected.

Also cool that it comes with a comic, as well as some previews of upcoming designs. Looks like 2 main aesthetics, more or less modern like Crocker and the wolf, then ancient, like the tiger samurai, the Greek one, and the bull/minotaur. Hope Crocker isn't our only reptile, and maybe even aquatic creatures in the future. A shark seems obvious for the Street Sharks people, but I'd also love to see some Octopus or Squid. It's looking like a modern, edgy Battle Beasts line.

Well to be honest, editing actually becomes fun once you get past the initial hurdle of learning how to do it, and there are plenty of good free ones out there that you can learn the basics of in like an hour.

But yeah, I get it, I suffer from a few conditions myself and health problems can make it very difficult to get things done.

This polyurethane doesn't seem to be tightening the joints, is it particularly ineffective on pins and flat swivels? I know it's primarily good at ball joints, which is usually what's loose.. or did I just not move it well enough to work it into the joint while still liquid?

ahaha, yeah we all had stuff missing if it was removable. That's also definitely not the same cloth my splinter figure had, might have been a running change.. because it was more microfibery material that draped more, wouldn't have bunched up like that and looked so thick. then again these are 30 year old memories...

oh and just FYI if you're looking to fill your old nostalgia, in addition to old figures, there's also this modernized version for like 40 bucks, with improved joints and shit.. and there's also more recent rereleases of the old toy (in like, 2013 and 2021 I think) but those are prone to having pretty significant paint errors.

right? there's a whole line of them. All just like we remember except (usually) improved proportions, all the crazy old sculpting kept/enhanced (and actually painted in this time unlike Playmates did back then), all the joints you could want (except maybe toe bends to recreate the classic toy stances), and recreations of the old weapon sprues just for fun.
But they are a bit expensive, always have loose hips, and have a few little niggles like Splinter's nose being sculpted to match the old paintjob, rather than painted to match the old sculptjob (with a slightly narrower nose, though it's possible i'm misinterpreting it and those were always, like, nostril-rounds)

hmm so far for me, they've all been too loose in the hips and either 10% too loose or 10% too tight in the knees, every other joint is exactly how I would want them. yielding to gentle pressure, but not buckling under the figure's own weight.
the only other issue I can see is this internal joint in the body of the turtles and metalhead (and presumably Slash will have it too). It's way too high up to access and it's extremely wobbly.

oh and there are other slight issues. there's a strong tendency for villains, especially larger ones, to have undersized or otherwise slightly misdesigned weapons (nobody has a trigger finger hand for their pistol grips, for example, the trigger guard has to just poke up out of their fist). and in some cases it's hard to get certain weapons into their hands. Minor but also extremely avoidable, so harder to just forgive. I'm glad I got mine on discount, and I really hope that trend continues because I want to keep getting more, but not at this price. Hopefully a year from now it'll be like ey look, Samurai Leo for 40 bucks, Krang for 39, etc

Foot Soldier got some much-needed extra guns (if undersized), and plenty of others got extra stuff... at least one extra prop like Don having a turtle comm and Mike having his grappling hook.. giving Genghis an axe would have been sensible. Especially since the tongue gun is just a BIT on the silly side, and without that he's left with only long-range weaponry..

Yes, my example was imaginary but it's roughly a VERY simple version of how it works for waves on any toyline. The money is glued together on how much you spend developing/producing each wave. Basically if you expect to make lots of money on "cool toy" (usually the main character/s), then you don't mind losing money or breaking even (compared to a more popular choice) on "niche toy" because it's also a way to buy goodwill from your customers / completionists, plus attract "I don't care about the series / don't want 'main character toy' " new people who end up liking the alternate weird side character toys. Marvel Legends, for example, famously includes iron man, wolverine, or spider man in every wave they produce, because they're expecting to make their money back on that toy compared to the niche shit that a big chunk of their collectors can't even name.

Oh, that. Yes, it's a very cool generic alien laser gun. I rather like the fact it's more punch dagger shaped (or whatever the name of the triangle thing Raph has is) and not more L-shaped handle plus barrel the way "earth" guns are.

You're probably right. they said they're trying not to put out too many big figures, right.. give people's wallets a break. and they're not nearly as iconically popular figures as the wacky mutant characters like your Wyrm and your Mutagen Man and the likes of Muckman..

it would be interesting. I can't think of any I'd really want, even though I did have the wacky action commando splinter. he was a bit of a hoot, and I appreciated him looking more like the cartoon. Most other shredder figures just looked like weird bootlegs. B+R seemed to be used more for gimmick lines, like if the turtles got special removable armor or flip-out armor or something, they'd throw those two in with the same.

I guess the company looks at the wave as the product, huh? That seems retarded, except I just realized it's because on their end, the wave IS the product. they're in the business of selling waves. Waves are what get purchased from them, by stores.
... at least that would be the case, except super7 is the boutique made to order guys. so they really aren't shipping off cases of waves. but I guess it's just baked into the industry to make X money per wave..
I used to say all the time, around the (second or third most recent) time that Transformers started seeing really obtrusive price-class paint-app cuts and such, like.. why not just move the budget over, give the guy who's meant to be all-black his nice cheap blackness, and give the guy with 3 kinds of colored markings his full markings or whatever... let the two of them collectively share a good two-figure budget. and I guess that's what super7 is doing here. it just feels so odd that one wave is doing the thing in question, but another isn't, resulting in a higher price for one of the items.

No. But it's clear Super7 is purposely holding out on the more popular side characters. They have not touched Pizzaface, Rat King, or Traag yet. They also JUST hit 1/4 punk frogs in wave 8 (about three years in) so they're probably keeping the ones people are waiting for on hold to keep people checking up on the line for their favourites. Like, my totally based on nothing guess is the next punk frog we see will one attila or rasputin for the "what the fuck" shock factor, since now you're either out until the other vintage design (which you will check for every month), or you're all in for the four of them.

In fact the only ones I've skipped so far are april (due to not being quite up to snuff) and Muckman (just not a fan, even if I respect the hell out of that whole thing he has going on). and I wouldn't say for a second they don't count as major popular characters, so I think... yeah Rat King would be among peers right now. Looking at a list, the only ones in the foreseeable future I won't get are guerilla gorilla (Despite looking pretty good, actually better than the good Sergeant, just zero attachment), two of the costume turtles, Scratch, and the redundant shredder. They're just all hits, aside from Scratch who is more of a stunt inclusion due to his aftermarket value.

Here's my personal hot take.

The animation was absolutely top notch, the writing was... of the era, and the toys (at least of the turtles) was pretty good, I picked up Doc Ock Donnie since he was a fun design.

The catch is, it was mostly other factors - too many other factors. Shitposting aside, when you adapt something with a big nostalgia base or hardcore fans, you get one, MAYBE two big changes and a handful of minor ones. Even that will alienate and push away a chunk of your original "not muh" fans, and anything else will push everyone away because you should have just made an original series if EVERYTHING is different.

The thing is, Rise changed way too much right away. Off the top of my head (probably missing a bunch):
>The turtles are all different species now. (Cool side idea from the designer of the original series, but what if you don't like the new species/look of your dude?)
>Raph is a giant now.
>Raph is the leader now.
>Raph changed his weapons.

I will fully admit though that I would have watched Rise if it wasn't TMNT. It's not about not making big changes, you can make changes if they fit. if you're fixing up the downsides the original had, while enhancing the good parts.

you're also right about it being too much at once. Big raph? We could enjoy big raph. he's a tough guy, it kinda works (personally i'd rather see Big Don. Like the slowest, most calculated turtle. kind of the Po from Mulan situation. Same deal there where the tough guy is small, it's the Wolverine archetype, what Raph is based on)
but with all that other shit, it's just not right. I also noticed immediately Leo's lack of personality.. I guess having the stuck-up uptight guy wouldn't fit this show, in the same way they filed down Raph's edges really hard in the '87 cartoon, forcing them to steal a lot of Mikey's wit and transplant it (leaving him a little braindamaged).. because Rise really has no room for anyone being smart or responsible.
I wish the people behind Rise had simply done a Biker Mice from Mars remake instead. That'd suit their proclivities better. Plus it took place in Detroit, right? Same goes for those recent movies, that tone and style would have suited the biker mice or street sharks way better.
Similarly I think the OC villains were actually a good idea, that's the one solid right choice.. but with all the other changes, it's unrecognizable.

I think April's race would have been fine if they hadn't made her talk all country. When are people going to learn, that is how (white) southern people talk. they taught it to the slaves. -it is not okay-, let alone 'black', for them to talk and act that way.

Yeah, it's not a practical weapon for humanoids to use, which is why I gave it to Krang. (Triceraton kept the machine gun.) I like the weapon design and remember it fondly, but I don't think anyone besides a vice-gripped robot could use it effectively - bonus nerd point being that firing that gun from the hip would also make it inaccurate for anyone whose actual eyes weren't also stomach level. Even if he drops the gun, people are going to have a hard time using it to shoot Krang back.

Yes and yes. The movie designs weren't... my favourite, but movie krang's toy redesign I actually liked. It's kind of a shitty beater car sort of android suit, the clunky one Krang cruises around in and lets get banged up because fuck it. That's why I like the fucked elbow, it makes it feel like Krang fixed it but didn't bother making it look good because meh, his other suit is for villain monologues and this one is gonna get fucked up again anyway.

After the vintage comic Utrom suit NECA is doing, I'm hoping they also do modern comic takes, because I kinda like the resident-evil-ish respirator head version of the suit. (And also Goro-shredder suit Ch'rell, but that fucking guy is an extreme long shot.)

Also it's worth mentioning that the Krang on this toy is a separate, removable soft rubber piece. You really gotta fucking cram him in there, but as a bonus, I'm hoping that eventually I'll come across transformers or other robot toys who have chest cavities to house that rubber brain as his "Crossover" suits.

Sort of. The 2012 series did a version sort of referencing them, but the original line was "Warriors of the forgotten sewer", which also included mikey in a blue suit of armour. Raph never got a figure but his concept art was "Raph-a-elf", and he was a legolas archer sort of guy.

The toy super shredder had purple clothes, black helmet, and silver armour, so the wave 8 normal shredder repaint (who comes with a mutagen canister as a bonus accessory) works as the "before" version of that toy since it's effectively the same colour scheme but skinny. I like the respirator instead of the visor as a concept, and the big armoured arms with retractable transformer hands, but yes the top heavy war robot who skipped every leg day is retarded. The elbow placement in the bicep is stupid but I don't mind it, it's sort of justified because the robot's arms would bend to be level to Krang's higher placement in the machine, so again, if he's firing a gun the robot holds with a 90 degree bend in the arm, it's technically eye level for krang.

The guy who sculpts a lot of the TMNT Ultimates showed off some what if designs for different Ultimates figures on Instagram, and showed off multiple sculpts for different April figures.

This is a new for a version 2 April with her orange striping. My assumption is that they'd probably make new heads for that release when and if they get to it.

It only happened because they decided to resculpt to please fans who wanted a more cartoon looking April than a toy version. This was hot on the heels of the Neca release

And since they're doing Super Shredder, they could use the body twice to make Slice N Dice Shredder, but only if Super Shredder is more of a normal size. The Fall Geek Out endcap got set at my Target, picked up the Monsters Bride and Hunchback. I'm super happy with how good Leo is. There's so much nice detail put into the figure, and the storage shell idea is really well executed. For an unusual choice of a character they knocked it out of the park.

April's super good too, really nice paint detail, articulation is all really smooth. I guess Mummy Mikey is already hitting Walmarts, so I'll have to keep an eye open for him as well.

ehhh that doesn't bother me, though I will say it seems unnecessary to do it for human characters when you don't do anything similar for rhino skin, turtle skin, etc.. but it is something I want to see in things like the movie line. adds to the realism a bit.. and yeah when you combine it with toy gloss it kinda looks like wax, but there's a reason we use wax for realistic statues.

okay super7 casey jones has a little unpainted body hair detail, and yeah I see now why the waist bugged people, it just wasn't quite designed to line up right... and he had a few tight joints, but at least he had no loose joints this time. and best of all, his wrist hinges are aligned for a striking grip, unlike everyone else so far (who has more of the.. 'climbing' wrist movement?). very nice.

i got the four turts and shredder.. for some reason I just thought they were fun and cool. plus I think someone gave me an additional toon raph so I had two, and i made the five of them my power rangers.. i also got don twice because I lost one on the bus. so it's like, i spent (er, had spent on me) way too much on one of the dumbest parts of the line, especially when only like 2 years later I was goin "fff when did tmnt get so dumpy and lame?" and it's because of how the show declined and i looked back at a lot of my sillier toys and just thought they looked dumb and I wanted more badass and cool stuff.
thank god at the time they made comics-based superhero figures and stuff, that tided me over.

This is expected already, I dunno why people are so "surprised" every time. Good on NECA for molding the plastic in about the right color, but I'm still not sure why they don't just matte topcoat the plastic and call it a day. Paint apps are charged by every time the brush is lifted now, why even pay for these apps that just scrape off anyway? Seems like a waste of money to me.

super7's ultimates and the upcoming new neca turtles both have that sort of classic 'regular tmnt' look that the 2003 ones were also roughly doing, but if you want genuinely looking-like-those-versions, there were some huge expensive unlicensed chinese ones, that added some cloth arm and leg wrappings more akin to Next Mutation

Also I believe you're supposed to use Don with the Turtlemobile in the vintage line. The vehicle itself just doesn't really fit in with much else, and seems most appropriate with these figures.

Ooze. It goes in that clear compartment in the back if you look at the box art. You can see a TCRI canister attached onto a little plunger that you're supposed to press down into the hole on the clear chamber where you store the ooze. It then squirts the ooze out the back like an oil slick.

I count mutagen man as a bad guy by his actions. I put metalhead with the turtles because it's far more interesting having them fight him, but I like the idea that his programming could make him a wild card. I have him displayed between the good and bad guys.

Last time it took a few weeks(2?) to get unloaded from the port to the warehouse, and even then there was still a wait for them to ship from the warehouse(another like 2 weeks). Brian did discuss it in a few old videos. When they get to the warehouse they don't actually ship to you from there, which is why there's another wait after that. They instead ship pallets thru an entire network of distribution centers across the country, with the big orders being processed first(Entertainment Earth and BBTS), and then those pallets at the centers are broken up and the individual orders mailed. If they're not at the warehouse already they will be shortly. My guess is that they wont be in hand for about another 2 weeks.

but these are prototypes, so things can still change. it's entirely possible the prototype uses a sticker and the final one won't, just as a one-off way of getting the graphics on there. i'd be okay with a sticker honestly as long as it's a plastic sticker, not paper.

oh how do you like that! super7 mutagen man CAN connect his hose to his gun (which is a little weird since that's his vital fluids, literally the only thing motivating him to do crime, but i guess maybe he gets desperate). the lighting also appears a little bit different here, resulting in the eyes and shirt being a different hue entirely. also kinda looks like the sculpted spot for the pupils is slightly smaller than what's intended, which means we have another 'splinter's nose' situation where they've chosen to have the new toy mimic the paint job rather than the sculpt.. which i'm of two minds on.

hmmmmmmm. He's big alright, but I think most of it is that torso. in my opinion in this example, he is still a little too small to fit alongside bebop and rocksteady. . his head is just too small. the proportional suggestion from that head is that he's still a head taller than this, in their scale.
and sadly the movie scale is even larger so he wouldn't fit with the movie turtles, despite the aesthetic being dead on

Have you guys seen the threezero 1/6 turtles figures based off the 2010s films? Like, in person. Because one of my mates has one and I thought it looked impressive with all the details and such, then when he posed the arm the seamless rubber body scrunched up and bent all out of shape and I was like, the lack of joints was not worth this. Posing it in any way that isn't a default standing pose with outstretched arms makes the figure go from 'hmm not bad' to 'please make it stop.'

I have seen them in person but they were just standing around in a neutral pose in a display, so I didn't see the seamless joints move. They look very nice quality-wise, as usual for ThreeZero, but I am just not a fan of the designs.

Also, this is nothing new, there aren't really any seamless limbs that bend nicely. At some point you inevitably get that weird scrunching because that's the limits of our current technology at this scale. Someday maybe we'll develop better materials for this.

jointless bodysuits of any kind have not yet been invented that can solve the sleeve problem. the primate shoulder is basically fucking magic. if you look at most animals, they need all kinds of loose skin around that area to get even a fraction of our range of motion. clothing wrinkles like fucking crazy, and if your shirt is the least bit tight, raising your arms is going to cause it to show your tummy. if it's stiff material such as in the accursed suit jacket, you'll expose most of your forearms.
basically as it is, toys don't flex enough around the shoulders. giving them an impediment in the form of a formfitting covering is a bad idea.

it does kinda feel like lenticulars and holograms sorta disappeared.. they used to be everywhere. the most you get now is holo foil on some trading cards and the occasional sticker, but nothing remotely as elaborate as we used to get, with big images you could almost look around as you turned the thing. fascinating the way those are made, it actually is taking a wraparound 3d picture and embedding it on the basis of angle so it always looks right from that side.. which I think is how the 3DS also worked?

Toys are a bit behind other trends, we're still in the 80s while fashion, art, etc. have moved through 90s nostalgia and are now heading into the early 2000s. So I think we'll eventually see franchises from these eras being milked instead as people who were kids during those times grow up and get jobs in the industry.

We'll reach proper 90's saturation when we get street sharks, mummies alive, or other Silverhawks/Bucky O'hare tier 90's properties that aren't the usual big stuff. A lot of the 90's homages you see now(Power Rangers, Beast Wars) already were getting nostalgia lines in the 2000's/10's.

I'm going to respectfully disagree. I probably grew up in a similar time as you, and I too have seen things change. I was bitter at first too. But then I realized, things are changing because there's a wider demographic now. In the 80s and 90s you could basically just pander to American teenage boys and that was fine because it was like 98% of your audience. Now a lot more and a lot of different types of people are into this stuff, and not all of them are going to be into American teenage boy shit. So things are changing to try to adapt to the needs of the new market. And that makes some of the older ones grouchy, because they wanted it to stay the same forever. Your love for Batman or Spiderman or whatever isn't inherently more special than the person who got into it yesterday, it's just older.

Things are a little clunky right now because growing pains always happen when big changes occur. But it will get better as people refine their approaches, learn more, and figure out how to adapt better. It's going to be ok in the long run I think. My advice to you is try not to be cynical and keep an open mind. I'm a lot happier since I did.

Girls stuck pretty rigidly to girl franchises, boys to boy franchises. There were only a few kids who bucked the trend, and they were clearly labeled socially as "tomboys" and "tomgirls." In addition, the kids-to-adults divide was huge. All my friends' parents were into super boring shit, like interior design, purses, cigars, whatever. Adult shit. I dunno, this just sounds like gatekeeping to me. You're free to do it, but I don't think you're gonna have a very good time. I've been through dozens of niche fandoms that eventually blew up, and I've seen this song and dance play out many times. You were new once too, you know. Yea, they're ridiculous in concept, but 99.9% of the things released in the 80's tmnt line is batshit insane. But I remember being a kid and the toon turtles looked the most like the cartoon characters when compared to all the other toys I'd seen.

Your metaphor is getting a little confusing for me. Are you saying like "fake fans?" Anyway, I wouldn't put too much stock into stuff like that. There are always going to be people who are way too invested in the "politics" of the fandom, and that's something you don't have to choose to be a part of. Not everyone knows everything you know, hell, not everyone even understands how to be a fan of something. Some of these folks are real new to all this and will need some handholding in the beginning if you ever hope to have more fans as hardcore as you are.

All I'm saying is try to exercise a little compassion man. Everyone's gotta start somewhere, and it's not always gonna be pretty. I think it's kinda on the older parts of the community to welcome and share with the younger ones, cause that's how communities thrive. If we turn up our noses at these new "normie" fans, they might stay like that forever, becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy for us.

I hate the weapons being balloons, too, but I'm pretty sure Raph or Mike was the sole reason I got into TMNT toys as a kid in the 80s. I mentioned this in another thread, but I saw some kid at a dentist office and I'm pretty sure he had one of those two I just mentioned and he was squeezing it and its head was spinning. After that I decided to see what the whole fuss was about.

I'm tempted to pick these up but I should probably hold off. Another thing kind of bugging me out is how their bandannas have a slightly metallic sheen to them. I really do love the action features though; super evocative of those cool Ghostbusters toys from the 80s, too.

I can't really notice the pearlescence from the photos on any part other than the wrappings (it's super obvious on Don) but that's pretty horrible if it's on their skin as well. I recently picked up all four basic turtle re-releases via Walmart and was pretty disappointed with the slight color differences from the original. Granted, I don't remember the originals perfectly since it's been over 30 years since I've had one, but I don't remember them being so matte and Raph looks a little too light/pallid and Don looks too brown when he was more of an olive green, no? I don't hate these, though... Especially for $13.

I got the villains 6-pack for $105 from a local comic shop and got a "damaged box" of the classic cohorts from Amazon for $40, coming in on Monday... I'm aware of the issues but I'm a MOC collector that hangs his stuff on the wall so it shouldn't matter too much if pieces are missing. After this I'm pretty content with my TMNT collection and I'm going to hold off until they re-release Casey Jones or some other iconic villains like the Triceratops guy even though I think he came in around the time I stopped paying attention to TMNT back in the day.

got mine too and I actually quite like it. The only thing that kinda sucks is how gummy the swords and chucks feel but I think that might have been the same thing with the original toys too. Sucks about the tvs not even having lenticular decals, but better than completely omitting accessories like they did with mutagen man.

hmm do you guys think super7 triceraton is engineered with the shogun version in mind? or when it comes to that, would they just modify and recast the few parts connecting to the armor pieces. In the process of looking up the old toys to wrack my brain, I also noticed that guy had all recycled weapons.. also, Kenshin came with a fucking kusari-gama of the type with the ring on the chain instead of a weight, but with the chain attached to the top of the sickle part.. and also the toy called it a 'kusarigama sword' which is incredibly amusing, how do you get that right and so wrong at once. it's weird enough playmates bothered.

Mighty Max will probably be the next thing I get into collecting once I've collected everything I want from TMNT & MOTU. I've already got a near 100% complete collection of Battle Beasts, Spinjas, and Castle and Space Lego from the mid 80s to late 90s.

Loved Mighty Max though, probably my favorite 90s toy after Lego. I had a fuck ton of them but like many other toys I have no idea where they got to but I suspect my younger brother has something to do with their disappearance.

I imagine it's going to be a long freakin time til the suit comes out. I'd narrow it down to "do I like the walker he used to use? / the original toy?" which honestly I haven't decided on yet. there's a brilliance to him coming with that weird Dalek suction cup gun thing, pretty sure years before we saw Daleks were indeed little pink wrinkled tentacle brain guys, but at the same time, the way the dish is angled down slightly... kinda ruins it for me. and the arms look a bit awkward, I would have liked them to do a little more reimagining on the walker.
if it gets down to 36 bucks in a year, i'll buy it.

the fabric is not my favorite (it's more like what came on the old movie splinter than what came with the original splinter)... it uses very thin threading to avoid the "these visible threads take me out of the moment since they can't possibly be such big threads at that scale" issue, but it's still kind of stiff and doesn't 'hang' like i'd prefer.. actually, it kind of looks like when a cotton yukata is fresh and hasn't been worn in yet (but it's all ragged, so that isn't quite appropriate for it)
the rubber robe at least gives you a good guide for how to adjust the cloth one. also if you put it on over the cloth one, it won't quite close, but having it open with another thing beneath is kind of a good look! I might try that with shredder since he also has both for his cape

also his neck articulation isn't great, neither is Bebop's. but that's no big deal. it's a little hard to make that type of head turn side to side without just.. rotating. i WOULD like to see more double-jointed necks in general though. especially on the neca gargoyles figures, they all seem to be sculpted with their necks very forward, so you have to bend the fuck out of the ab crunch backward for them to face forward.

I'm not sure which is a better choice in this scenario, if they put the cloth robe in the packaging it might get sort of creased or something. plus they're really wedged into those plastic trays so that could have maybe warped the rubber. though bebop's jacket seems exactly as removable and it was fine.

oh also be prepared to be a little frustrated with his hand-weapon compatibility. while he has some fucking awesome claw-hands that are perfect for that cool claw-grip arrow-drawing, there's nothing that can really hold the bow properly (I used the other claw-hand to approximate) and of course he can't quite do a proper draw anyway because that's beyond the capability of most action figure shoulders... the hidden-blade cane is hard to fit into the normal grippy hands and even then looks kind of weird (reverse grip looks better for the blade) and can't quite be positioned in a walkingstick-pose.. similarly the more standard walkingstick, he can brandish it like a small club, but naturalistically resting on it, not so much. and I couldn't get the coffee cup in one of those hands to save my life either. and the others are just handshake hands and closed fists.
the claw hands, one on top of the other, on the knobby walking stick, kind of works. but I ended up just having mine brandishing it ready to kick some ass, with the other hand in claw mode ready to claw some ass. it's funny I love the old kama weapons so much, especially now that they're redone to look so cool, yet I can't think of anyone that I want to wield one. maybe shredder.

Well, Retroblasting despite being a constant sourpuss and wanting to shit on Super7 just to shit on things because he's mad that he lost an argument with Scott Nitelich over the price of the Thundertank, even he admits in his new video in which he shits on Super7, that their Ultimates are fantastic. i just had an odd thought to myself. Started out asking how rich I'd have to be before I could think of spending 500 bucks on the super7 turtle van.. then i thought what if they just did a scaled-up knockoff of the original. then I realized nah, that wouldn't be that fun, it's just a box with a hinged lid... then my mind went to 'what about other vehicles' and actually, yeah. if they were identical to playmates but scaled up to super7, i'd probably pay a chinaman for some of their vehicles that I have nostalgia for, like the turtlecycle, the sewer party tube, and the mutant module even though I never had that one as a kid.
