This is like the ending to the movie Ratatouille, where the miserable critic likes something. Retroblasting, despite always hating everything and constantly complaining and hating on Super7, despite that he never previously owned any of their figures, says he loves TMNT Ultimates now that he has them in hand in his latest video in which he shits on Super7 over their Silverhawks figures which aren't even out yet.

Because he was affiliated with Bobby Vala, the guy running the Action Force toyline, and Vala was actively shitting on Super7 on Retroblasting's behalf, since Retroblasting was promoting Vala's toyline. Vala had been calling them Sub-par7 and telling people how he could make better and cheaper figures, only for some reviewers to then compare his figures to a TMNT Ulimate and say that not only was the Super7 cheaper, but it had more accessories and better packaging, with better quality since Vala's line was riddled with QC issues. Retroblasting had and continues to attack Super7 over their Silverhawks line which isn't even out yet. Most of his attacks are about how he's mad that they're not based on the vintage figures and don't have head to toe vac-metal.

What figures do you think will be in Wave 9 of the super7 TMNT ultimates? Napoleon Bonafrog is most likely gonna be in it to finish off the punk frogs that got released. But who else will they give us?
Let’s try this with two ideas: a full wave of five figures with one turtle variant and maybe a recolor of a previous figure or a wave of four figures with the turtle variant and maybe a repaint (you could replace the repaint with a new figure if you want).
For my list I’d say for the five figure wave I’d want: Napoleon Bonafrog, Fugitoid, chrome dome, Wrym, Rat king, and either a another one of the beach fun turtles or another music turtle.
For the four figure I’d want: Napoleon Bonafrog, either another beach turtle or music turtle, rat king, or either chrome dome or Fugitoid

my super7 raph came with some pretty badly bent but nicely shiny silver painted sai in the protective packaging, and some super not-bent less-shiny presumably unpainted-silver-plastic sai in his holsters, surprisingly fine despite being exposed.
I put the bent ones into the "holding the sai wolverine style" hands, and that hides the bends quite well, so now I have the option of either without having to wiggle the sai around.. but if I did one of each, they wouldn't match.
But then I realized later that he can only do that grip because these are more realistic / movie / cartoon style sai, not the diamond-cross-section-blade kind from the original toy, so that puts raph along with mike and leo in having very different weapons from their toys. Not that that really upsets me, but I feel like they could have easily included variants among the spare parts. straight ninja-to, flexible-plastic-cord nunchaku, and dagger-style sai..

it seems pretty common for just about everything these days. lots of soft plastic used, everything's a little warped if it's thin enough.
though this was the second most significant (most being Shredder's armor. VERY soft, all quite bent. gonna take some hot water to straighten all of that out). Everyone else has been more or less fine. I was worried about Don's bo at first, but it's meant to be like that for whatever reason. Like it was hewn from a real branch I guess.
and yeah 55 is too much to spend, I got mine for 35.

A variety of things. DBZ included. Import figures use more rigid plastic so they don't warp as easily. At the prices they charge for Super7 I really expect better. And I'm not counting sale prices. Flooding the market with Sub-par product doesn't make it good.

Tbf turtles' hands do look like they're a continuation of their forearms. They're just as thick going into the hand. They do have a defined wrist and what not under the scales, but otherwise it isn't necessarily wrong. For ninja turtles, up to you and whatever media. Usually they have arms designed like a human's, minus the number of digits and their thickness.

Okay I'm sure absolutely nobody cares, but I'm doing some measurements now because I've been hunting for something to customize into a super7 turtle van for days now, and I keep on tripleguessing myself about how big it actually needs to be.
super7's van is apparently about 20 inches long and 12 inches tall and wide, ignoring what the spoiler presumably adds to height and length.
if we assume it's about the same as a regular VW microbus, that makes it about a 1/6 scale vehicle, which is kind of nuts because these turts are not as big as barbies / classic GI joes.. but they are about as wide, so that might have something to do with it. And it might be meant to be more of a normal full-sized van that coincidentally resembles a microbus, so that would be more of a 1/8 scale
When I get some turtles out and sit them down in what looks like a comfortable space for a cockpit, it's looking like 10 inches wide would be perfectly fine, and even as low as 9 inches high could be good. The more cartoon-style turtle vans usually ARE wider than they are tall, at least in the cockpit area, with more height added from the turtle shell top piece..
The Underground Arsenal one is also about a foot high and a foot wide, yet when I see it pictured with figures, it seems smaller. like it would only barely fit the SHFs. Particularly the narrow side doors. I think the top dome takes up a lot more height than on the 'party wagon' version.
In conclusion I don't have any conclusion and will probably keep faffing about and pretending I could even theoretically customize some cheap toy I got from a thrift store into a decent van.

the differences between them get more fascinating the more I look at it. from the name to the windows, the party wagon is obviously more of the VW, while the turtle VAN is clearly more of a standard box van. it keeps the flat front end, but the rear clearly no longer has the engine. I know I've seen it done before, if you look up their projects you could probably see what they used. I think the major important thing would be the.. wheelbase? and for authenticity i suppose you'd want to install it at a tilt, so the rear axle would line up with the bigger wheels.

Do you think super7 will deliberately kind of expand/elaborate on their eventual tokka and rahzar, making them even more playmates-style? since the basic look of the toys was used (color-shifted pretty hard) in the cartoon and that'd be a little boring? exaggerate em a little, add more popping veins n such?

If UA would match the plastic color closer to the cartoon, I might end up just getting that one. Once I saw the reviews I held off since it's more playmates toy color. They also didn't add the vents under the spoilers. Then again, Aliexpress could see some NECA factory rejects of the van workers dig out the dumpster and put up for cheap before the official one ships. I'd be tempted to get one if it's below $100.

They're the DreamEX chinese exclusive figures that resemble the 2k3 versions of the turtles. I finally found Mikey for a decent price shortly after this pic. It does take up a ton of room in my basement boxed, so I invested in dust-free displays for them but still waiting on delivery.

I don’t even know if the pre order now, made to order is even a thing anymore. I started collecting these about end of July and I’ve never spent over $40 on a figure. Between local toy shops, a media store chain, a local chain of cd/video game resellers, toy shows and online store sales I’ve managed to get caught up with what’s released. I got April at Power Con for $35 and at the end of a toy show I scored Casey and Muckman for $39.50 each. And it’s not even Turtles other S7 lines are easy to find. I got last week Optimus and Bombshell for $39.99 and most of the TCats are at this shop for under $45 if I wanted to get them. For made to order they don’t feel as limited as it was or people over ordered thinking these were going to be money printers.

A lot of retailers make sure to order plenty of stock to resell, once the turtle waves started coming out demand for the whole line shot up like crazy hence the reissues they did. Now that the toys have been in-hand the demand is dropping, and stores are left sitting on high cost stock they can barely give away at the price they bought them for.

The loose hips does seem like a random thing, the hips on my raph and most of my figure range from solid to "could be better", the two worse offenders in my collection are Metalhead and Muckman, both need really specific posture and foot placement to stay up.

i'm mildly disappointed with the effect multiple coats of polyurethane gave, but i did eventually get mine to 'looser than i'd like, but tight enough to stand up'
the problem as far as I can tell is that they tend to use fake ball joints. it's actually a hinge joint SHAPED like a ball (why?) and then connected via a VERY thin pin (which also worries me)
so I'm mostly adding the goop into the pin area and really hoping it works in there as it dries.
the other problem with the main turtles and metalhead is the inexplicable inner torso piece that their legs connect to. it's loose and it's weird. lets the waist swivel slightly, but why would you want that? and it goes WAY high up inside the body, so there's no way to reasonably squirt anything in there unless you had like an S-shaped nozzle

I also prefer the older more salmon-y pink, more appropriate for a brain (though maybe the old toy has just yellowed slightly? but that's the color I remember him being). still, great sculpt. if I had any faith whatsoever in my tiny-details painting, I might try to lighten those veins up...

It's hilarious, I made this poll, I set it to allow multiple choices per vote, and I forgot to vote on multiple ones.. because I'm fond of several of these. I think my top 3 have to be foot cruiser, mutant module, and turle cycle. if I could just have those plus the van, I think I'd be good permanently.. as fun as they are, the sillier vehicles aren't quite for me.
also yeah hopefully they'd up the size of the module a bit from the original. I actually can't seem to find pics of the original with any figures next to it for scale, but it needs to be big enough for shredder, B+R, and one hostage or it's just no good.
also I agree it's the wagon equivalent, especially since it has a silly name vs its TV counterpart which was just 'transport module'

I think you might be able to fit a Neca figure in the vintage one, but I've never seen anyone do it. The inside is like a coffin, so it's very roomy. I actually prefer the wackier vehicles myself, but I think certain vehicles are iconic to the point where they almost demand to be made, such as the Mutant Module.

I usually keep extras. I check out a figure to see if it has any paint QC or defects, then if it does pop open a second figure and inspect that one for QC. Sometimes I swap out parts and make a perfect one, or the second one ends up perfect already. It's just something I like to do with most toys I order online. I sometimes resell the ones that have the paint defects at a loss on b/s/t or on facebook to recoup some of the money back. Most of the time people buy them, because they want to get in on the line, but don't want to pay a lot of money. The last time I sold off a bunch of Baxters without their Mousers awhile back, along with a Mutagen Man who had some minor paint slop.

I don't know, man. It came out of the box that way. Huge disappointment. Now the Super7 one sounds like it's shit for the same reason. Walker Krang was one of my favorite toys growing up, I'm not sure why it's hard to make a fucking walker. Donatello is fine, I guess... as far as NECAshit goes. I'm planning to order a bunch of Gremlins soon, going to invest in some stands since most of them have a hard time standing up due to poor balancing (Brain Gremlin back there seems fine, fortunately).

I don't know how well you can see it, but it's not a normal NECA joint. I'm not even sure if it should be called a join. They have a small metal going through the "knee". The lower leg basically sits on it like a wheel on an axle. It just doesn't work very well.

It won't happen, but I'd love to see mass cancellations for all upcoming Ultimates TMNT stuff. Because, frankly, I don't think S7 even gives the smallest shit. They've proved that by having the same problem, across different figures with totally unique tooling, for FIVE goddamn waves. Two waves you can absolutely argue it's a 'work in progress' and they're aware of and fixing the problem. Three waves is iffy. When you're at wave 5, you've made the conscious choice to not deal with it and bank on the fact that you always sell enough product, even without fixing anything, that you don't -have- to care.

I don't know, my 1-4 wave figures are all rock solid except one Donatello that I got which had a fucked up paint job on one of the heads. I bought a second Donny since he's my favorite turtle, but that was still shitty (and unless you buy it direct from Super7, they do not give a fuck). Also the obviously shitty April. I am cutting way back on my Super7 TMNT figures though, from this upcoming wave I only ordered Krang and Leatherface. From the next wave only Slash and Ace Duck (and the mousers I guess, if they count). I have a feeling that there will soon be waves that I don't buy at all, but that's mostly okay, I'm pretty happy with my collection as-is, beyond the lack of an Android Body Krang.

Going to a figure convention this weekend, hoping that I will find a glow in the dark Baxter, that's one that I regret skipping.

shit I dunno I'll take loose over tight anyday, so far none of mine were 'fall over' loose, just 'hard to hold a lot of poses' loose. and I was able to improve them. Hell one or two of them had tight joints.
Like you're right, they should fix this, but I don't think it's even on the same priority of 'shit modern toy companies need to fix' compared to... paint app errors, slop, scrapes, yellowing, or even mildly but clearly incorrect design decisions
