The reality is, hasbro did pay about 175$ for each hell charger for some incopetent reason. Theres no room in the budget for galactus.

If i had to guess, the first and second molds both broke, so they had to harden the third one, and by that time the price skyrocketed.

It could also be some engineer found the worst possible way to make this, and needs to be fired immediately.

The issue is largely lack of paint (and some gripes about the Vulcan body like that oven shaped ab crunch), but even he recognized that this is the best Black Panther we've received.

Just got mine in today, I know I won't ever need another Black Panther now.

If they replace everything in red, it would be the perfect figure. As is, the knees have crappy range, so the figure has to stand on its toe joint to stand at all. The tail being broken into three joints is an atrocity, and it has to be used as a tripod to prop him up. The head is okay, although my personal preference would be more Gator, less Dinosaur. I also hated the brown edges of his coat.

The new one is a little small and a little too clean, but overall I like it better. Just wish there was a happy medium between the two. Maybe Venom sized: not the most recent one, but the omega red mold.

Did anyone grab the Marvel Select Sabertooth reissue? I was holding off on grabbing one till I could see some in-hand pics, I was really hoping they fixed the paint this time around to make it look more like the prototype and not the muddled, dark paint the original released version has. My thinking now is that they need to keep using the old molds for every big wave because there physically aren't enough new molds to make all the characters at once. At least they don't want to spend large amounts of money to make enough new molds. By using old molds for certain characters they can make full waves faster instead of creating a backlog using the same new molds.

Non ML Hasbro action figures don't have this problem because they're not making so many different figures per year or at once in large waves.

The Infinity Ultron Wave for instance is a gigantic waste of time: floppy and skinny BAF, terrible character slots (do we really need MCU Kamala after we've had 2 Ms. Marvels and "The Marvels" movie coming up?). The fact that Khonshu is a BAF for a future What If wave is stupid when you're releasing Moon Knight and Mr. Knight right now.

Even the Rektangular leak shows them putting out waaay too much shit. Which is even more strange considering the dooming and glooming over 2023, and expecting people to significantly cut back on purchases.

I like Hank Pym. I do not $350+ like Hank Pym. I'd take more regular Pym Legends. I'd consider a 12-inch release like Surtur, individually packed. But I would not pay for a Pym Haslab. Besides, if the appeal was all of his various looks for tiers, most collectors prefer to display one version of a character due to space unless its a major player like Spidey or Iron Man. I think a Hank Pym HasLab would not succeed.

Yeah same. I don’t think pym has as much draw as people think. It’d do better than this sure but still might fail. I think most collectors would be perfectly happy with a 12 inch one, a BAF split up over two waves or something. He’s not gonna be posed fighting sentinel or galactus so he doesn’t need to be as large as them.

Don't forget, they did release a Pym set a few years ago with his modern Giant Man costume, it was about $90 or so I wanna say, I don't remember, I got it so long ago, and it was an SDCC exclusive. It had the 12in Giant Man, an ML Hank in his blue and yellow costume, an Ant Man with his lab coat MU figure, and a couple of minifigs, I think Scott Lang was one of them. I really can't see Hank bringing enough to justify a $300+ Haslab.

All i'm hearing here is that you want an giant-man, you just don't want to spend that much money on it. very different from robbie reyes where i think most people just didn't give 2 shits either way since he's a "nu" character that the demographic with the most disposable income weren't familiar with.

You're also assuming that Hasbro will make a new Giant-man in some other form, the same as those who wanted smaller sentinels, but that may never happen. If it was between a $350 pym haslab or nothing, i'd choose the haslab.

Also, who says ever haslab has to be $350+. With no electronics I imagine it could be made much cheaper.

For all the lipservice to the 90's it feels like a lot of the classic designs veer into 60's-80's aesthetics which I appreciate, but just are a but too old to resonate with me a lot of the time. As much as I like dioramas they take up quite a bit of space and for some of them, can be hyper specific to the franchise. NECAs street diorama works well because it's just a generic street and pretty much anything works with it. A Daily Bugle rooftop would function in a similar manner. But something like a Danger Room would only really apply to X-Fans. Personally, I love the idea of dioramas but I feel they can be a tad too niche.

Well, the can just use the torso from other figures, Wolfsbane is just the polaris 2 pack torso. The furry limbs can be used by both of these, plus the skunk girls from the Star Jammers. Corsair is out next year. A modern Wolfbane with actual wolf head would be another reuse. Im sure there are other deep cut characters they could make with the furry limbs, like Thornn.

This. The Marvel team should take notes from the Transformers team. Star Saber is 1/3rd the price of Unicron and twice as many people backed it.
There's very little chance a $350 Giant-Man gets funded but at $150-200 I think it'd do just fine.

I was never big on HasLab to begin with. I've only backed the Sail Barge and Jabba's Palace, that's it. I don't have space to display Galactus or a Sentinel. Storing these things aren't fun to spend money just to keep it in a box, and I have a well paying job so I don't care to store them just to flip.

I honestly can't think of a single Marvel project that I would back, and there is an extremely small window of Star Wars projects that I would back, all of them OT.

Difference is those are classic toy playsets in lines devoted to recreating/updating vintage toy lines. For ML they would have to be really careful. To recapture the original 90’s toy biz sets to get that same kind of nostalgia money without it being something that looks too childish would be pretty difficult.

I never got the Sentinel. I think I hadn't fully comprehended how big Galactus was going to be and just pictured something similar in size to the previously biggest figure box I had, Legends Fortress Maximus. Lack of paint, Outdated articulation, and mismatch from the retro art made this a very average 7/10.

I have straight up pretty much stopped preordering Hasbro products because of their random early shipments. I got screwed real hard one month and I said that was it. Definitely helps that a lot of the stuff I ordered wound up just being on sale a few months later and that keeps happening with most of the figures I want. Pretty much I'm only sticking to preordering exclusives since they will be harder to come by later and there's half a chance Target or Walmart will just decide to cancel my order willy nilly anyways.

We already got a super fucking god-awful Wolfsbane, in a costume she never wore at that (the Wells/DNA New Mutants uniform), as they stuck a wolf-Wolfsbane head and hands as an accessory for a Walgreens Mirage figure that also came came with a Karma head. And the figure had crappy as fuck distribution and is rare as fuck nowadays.

If we get a new Wolfsbane, in her X-Factor uniform, it will probably be in a two-pack with the BAF Strong Guy figure.

As for Feral; maybe package her with a new version of Cable (in his Ian Churchill outfit) as a two-pack or put her with a member of the MLF (Forearm or Reaper or Wildside) since we are supposed to be getting Stryfe and Zero next year.

The only two teams I can see them make would be the original Four Horsemen from X-Factor (War, Pestillence, Famine) and have them each come with their robot horse mounts and a comic color repaint of Retro Apocalypse or the fucking Marauders.

Marauders would sell VERY VERY well since they've never been made into action figures before. Scalphunter, Arclight, Riptide, Scrambler, and Harpoon as the core set (since Vertigo's going to be a box set release). First tier figures will be Prism and Malice possessed Polaris, second tier will be Blockbuster. Third tier would be classic Angel and fourth tier would be an extra set of wings with harpoons stuck in them to recreate the scene where they lynch Warren.

I've never found it difficult to pull off any Spider-Man poses with it. Much better than any of the Legends ones I have, that for sure. The only thing I dislike about it is the hands being a tad small, especially compared to Legends figures. I would really recommend getting one, especially with the classic colored version coming out.

I'm kinda torn on this figure. While I don't hate the Retro Spidey mold like some do but now that I have the new BP, I do think DD would've been a lot better suited for the Vulcan mold. I like the color red they gave him, reminds me of the Ben Afleck costume, I'm fine with the head, and the different colored boots and gloves isn't a make it or break it thing for me, but what j can't stand is how difficult it is to make out his logo. They could've at least outlined it but holy shit, as is it looks like it isn't even there. I still haven't cancelled my pre order but it's getting even harder to justify keeping it.

If you want to take a test drive, you could order a bootleg of it off Ali Express for like around $15. Once you boil it and loosen the joints a little, it'll give you a good impression of what the real thing can do. Then when you get the real one, you'll have spare parts or custom fodder. I have one myself that I bought to repaint since I wanted a version of the figure in the classic colors (this was before Mafex announced theirs) but didn't want to repaint mine or pay the aftermarket price for another real version. I was surprised at how decent the KO is. The paint is sloppy and some of the tolerances are slightly off but overall it's pretty good as far as bootlegs go once you get it loosened up where it needs to be.

That's what I did with the Mafex Venom and to be honest, the bootleg is really good if you can look past the sloppy paint apps of the chest logo. But maybe that's just my luck, I've heard people getting shitty copies of the bootleg lately though. Anyways, I ordered the authentic reissue recently just because it's such a good figure that I wanted 2 of them, and the bootleg is shorter than Spidey.

Yeah, it seems like they had a bunch of Spider-man characters they either wanted to do or someone kept pestering them about, but didn't want to waste an actual retail slot on so they did this. Other than new heads for three characters and I guess the wings that connect to the back hole, everything here is re-use. What's weirder still is that this set probably has more new parts than the Wolverine 5-pack from last year but it still feels lazier.

Yeah I haven't had much luck with bootlegs previously so I can't speak on the quality personally but I get what you mean. I bought myself a 15 dollar AY Spider-Man from Ali, which was my first ever figure at that point and I went right in without boiling while I was trying to loosen it up, left leg snapped on me and left the peg all sorts of fucked up. Had no extras either. I got my money back but I haven't really bothered with KO's now due to how wild the quality control can be. The box actually came in completely crushed and with some weird stench, had to clean it numerous times. But I do like the thought behind getting one and then shelling out the money for the real thing and keeping the old one as fodder. I'll probably go through with the KO and get two and save for a real one down the line. Retail ones will probably always stay available considering reissues and third party sellers. But I just get a lot of anxiety thinking about trying to get the perfect figure because I'm not trying to have just so many variants of the same character, especially in the same costumes you know? But thanks for all of the advice, it's been really helpful.
