Okay anons, I'm really late to the party; what do I do if I want to get the Dinobots? I heard they were steadily designing new ones for SS86/WFC?/Legacy etc, but I wasn't actively paying attention because I preferred my Animated Grimlock and Swoop.
...but it took me an embarrassingly-long time to realize "Oh yeah... they're not going to make the rest of the Dinobots in Animated's style."

Fair, though i wouldn't put it past them to rerelease SS86 Grimlock eventually, particularly given he didnt come with his sword back then. That and I consider Grinlock to be the best of the Animated character design adaptations, so him specifically I'm not aching to get immediately.
Shame to hear about Slag/Slug tho, but good to know about Sludge, I'll keep my eye on him. Thanks anon!

Optimus Prime and the blue Jetfire repaint to make the fanmode combiner. Starscream because mine has a broken and repaired elbow so I wouldn't be able to resell at a good price. Thundercracker because I like the mold and needed a version in good condition. Megatron because he was my favorite of the classics figures. Pew pew! Mirage for being so posable in robot mode. Hound for being best looking in both bot and alt modes.

In some ways, not in others. The brand has been a non-starter as a kids toyline in Japan for like 20 years now, I think Micron Legend was semi-successful, the movie lines do alright, animated seems to have done ok.
Galaxy Force had to be cut short and show characters were relegated to exclusives or cancelled
The TFP line failed, TF Go!! as well. It failed so hard the Beast Hunters season was never dubbed in Japanese.
RiD 2015 got a pretty decent run of figures with much improved paint they needed, but the third season was never dubbed
Cyberverse bombed HARD. The toyline was reduced to Takara Tomy mall after a few waves.

So basically, TFs only success in Japan is as a legacy collector's toyline.

Considering they killed the line as soon as America was willing to make a Transformers show, no. Its probably at the same level of niche something like MASK is here. The modern line is more a general mecha line for people who like mecha.

Front wings also form swords. Alternatively you could switch the front and back wings around to give her smaller head-bows and wield giant "war fans".

Done a bit more work on her since (namely doing her feet/mantis claws and removing the wheels) but gotta do the sculpting next.
Also not sure on a paint scheme. Wanna have some pink in there to avoid having to paint the pink joints, not sure if I should go full Arcee and paint her like an orchid mantis?

I'm still waiting for a bumblebee mode I enjoy. I've been focusing on legend/commander/core class lately since the engineering has gotten really good especially when they renamed it core class. I really would like a good bumblebee in legion/mini class. I like how they scale with the combiners and titans.

Thanks anons. Definitely gonna go for the orchid mantis colours I think.
Also started to work on the head details. Using some beads for the very most basic shapes, specifically the eyes and the "double buns" (which may also be eyes). Obviously I'll be adding more detail with putty, including across the entire figure, this is just to get the basics down. Thinking of going for a blend of Transmetal 2, Kamen Rider and Guyver/Iczer for the overall sculpting style.
One bit I'm not sure on is how to do her mouth. I don't wanna just leave it with the stock mono-lip (I actually never liked that mouth, and I say that as someone who loves Animated Arcee as a design) and I'm torn between giving her a more abstract insect-y mouth or going with something a bit more feminine? Any ideas are welcome.

Check EB Games or Zing, they often get exclusives, usually without any notice. I got my SG Starscream a good 2 months from an EB Games in Brisbane before he even released in the US

Just got Sideways and I'm pleasantly surprised normally I hate these small SS cars.

My Barricade's alt mode never clicks together right no matter what, same to a lesser extent with my Dropkick and Berserker but Sideways alt mode looks great and no cracks.

Did a little more custom work on my "de-headmastered blitzwing. Added some silver details and made some bits to fill the neck gap and make the turret look less hollow in bot mode.

Still fully capable of swapping heads and having the headmaster pilot the vehicles, but now it's completely optional for transformation

It's by no means a perfect blitzwing, but at least it has alt modes

I dont really have a good way to add a collar with the way its modded to hide the head in the chest. Those shoulders look good, but the reason I modded him in the first place was to *avoid* partsforming. Do they at least store somewhere in vehicle mode?

Honestly, even aside from the crossover factor that's cool. Gurren Lagann with added beetle.
Also, got my Lugnut in today. He's really, really good. Definitely on the short side but he's pretty bulky, which is nice. Also I feel like, considering he was actually shorter than Megatron in the show, if you scale him off of a CHUG style "slightly larger than Optimus" Megatron (rather than Animated's "fucking enormous" take) his short height is far less egregious.
Whatever, he looks good next to Super Megatron. Wish his head could turn but oh well.

I'm not that old, but old enough to remember when Archer was telling us we could never get Dinobots in a line or real G1 combiner updates. Any Optimus has a better chance of getting an update than most characters.
Sucks that even the 3P version isn't that good even though a former TF designer made it.

Do you count Generations and Studio Series as two different lines?

There's really only two consistent Transformers toylines, either the Generations figures that people actually want, and whatever B-team is currently being sold like Rid2015/Bumblebee/Cyberverse just to fill space.

Again, how new are you? Were you here when the line started? Obviously it's gone off the rails and become the overflow for whatever Generations line is current, but that's a fairly recent development. Regardless, we count it as two separate lines.

What, do you WANT the same characters over and over? Really stupid criticism.

And yes, they were indeed "Marvel OCs"; insofar as that their being obscure toys "first" doesn't really matter, nobody would care about them if the Marvel comic didn't give them personalities and stories - much the same as 99% of the IDW cast. Why are you guys, of ALL people, acting as if new characters are a bad thing?

Bugly's only appeal is the shell looks like an off-brand version of The Fly since his actual vehicle mode is just a vague aproximation of a plane. It makes sense they wouldn't do him again until a line where they are combining the shell with the robot mode.

As someone who actually did read MTMTE/LL at least, there was literally only one character (that wasn't Arcee) that was made note to be trans, and even then you can almost entirely blame it on being a result of Furman's genuine autism towards the mere concept of woman robots existing, thus tainting the IDW continuity even long after he stopped writing for it. And if you move the goalpost to be about the gay relationships, then I'll just immediately say I was of the same worry until I actually read it: they're written just like any normal relationship would be, and are only one aspect of an entire fully-fledged story - the obnoxiousness genuinely can only be attributed to the shitty tumblr fanbase. Tl;dr, cope.

Also the DJD ARE edgy, and that makes them based. I'm sorry you forgot what fun is when you grew old, I pity you.
