I hate that Bumblebee is the one who has the A.W.E Striker mode and not Beachcomber who transformed into a buggy and thus would be more suitable for the task. But no, because of brand recognition Bumblebee has to be the one instead. And because they chose Bumblebee they would never be able to adapt some of the quirks POTP Beachcomber had into the transformation and make the backpack less frustrating. At least the HISS tank makes sense for Mefatron, it's the main vehicle of the Cobra and both Megatron and the tank have black to their colour scheme

I still feel terrible for the guy. He got dumped by Hasbro along with basically everyone else from the DW era the last few years despite designing some of the most iconic toys we've ever got. I'd take his Classics designs in the modern context over them trying to make everything sunbow-esque.

Only Hasbro can get mogged by a younger version of itself. LOOK AT THIS SHIT. How do people with functioning eyes think Studio Series is better? I can't believe Transformers has gotten this bad. The posability is the ONLY thing that edges out in favor of the SS versions, and even then it's not worth it when the toys look and feel this awful. As a longtime fan, if you're a zoomie or a newb, I urge to to pick up some older toys from the 90s and 00s. I don't care if you all dry up the used market and leave less for people like me because at least you will know what a good toy looks and feels like.

*Disclaimer: the "2007" Bumblebee pictured is actually a release from like 2009 but my points still stand since it's a retool of the 2007 one.

I can see where you are coming from. However, the scale of the 2007 toys are fine if Ratchet was a head or two shorter. The fact that SS Prime is so small throws the scale off for everyone else. Is Ironhide too big or just fine if Optimus was taller? If Optimus was taller, then Bee and Jazz are too short. Then if you make Bee AND Jazz taller, Ratchet is too short, and he would already be too short anyway if you make Prime taller.

See where I am going with this? If you use Optimus Prime as the scale anchor, then SS is completely off.

I think the reason the compromised on Optimus's size was to make him smaller than Megatron but also not make Megatron so big that they'd need to make guys like Blackout gigantic, who as it is is still too small.

Give the Studio Series figures the paint, plastic quality, and budget the 2007 figures had and they would undoubtedly be better.
The only ones that are a blatant downgrade are Jazz, for somehow having a less ingenious transformation after a decade and a half of advancements, and Bumblebee, due to Hasbro's new goofy concern with accurate proportions.
Optimus, Ironhide, and Ratchet are so much better than their past versions that they almost justify Jazz and Bumblebee being THAT bad.

Exactly 10 years ago they breached $10. In 2011 deluxes were 7.99. Me and my buddy would buy them up @ 6.99 to 4.99 when they went on sale.
So, that’s a 3-5x price increase in 10 years. For perspective, thats the same amount of inflation our grandparents experienced over the course of their entire lives up to 2012.

Dead End is pretty cool! His overall quality feels more like Dragstrip than the Leg bros. I really wish they would’ve made the other ones closer to this guy with his shoulder wheels. I had an issue with mine that is apparently common where his legs won’t tab properly in car mode leaving a big gap in the back. Luckily it was an easy fix I just had to shave off some mold flash.

Actually I just realized he’s not just similar, he is in fact a super heavy retool of Dragstrip. So strange they went all out on this guy and did barely anything to differentiate the legs. Almost feels like two different people worked on this who were not on the same page.

The shins are ok, they even had fake wheels molded on the inner sides, they just didn't paint it, so all they had to do was hide the real wheel with a hinge on its axel and add real feet that are part of the car underside.

Every Stunticon seeks fucked up on purpose, I just can't believe anyone would make such obvious mistakes:

Motormaster: Balance issues cause has no heels, shitty accessories, trailer too short and 30% isn't used for combiner mode.

Dragstrip: Shoulders feel unfinished, random kibble as collar, spoiler too low in car mode.

Deadend: Dem feet

Wildrider: No shoulder wheels, awful backpack

Brakedown: Is an albino Wildrider, didn't even try to be a lambo

Menasor: Short skinny thighs, walks over painted parts, shitty accessories, solid fists as hands.

Guess they can't give us "definitive" versions of any character.

You either have toy accurate robot modes for the individuals which the cartoon and the CW/UW toys got right (well mostly) or a cartoon accurate Menasor which the new Legacy toy got right (well mostly). The Stunticon team has an inconsistent design problem that it's almost impossible to have everything right, it's always going to be one thing well executed at the cost of something else.

More or less exactly the same as Kingdom BAT Mirage/Legacy WnR Leadfoot, just with the head from the Siege 'Holo' Mirage slapped on - meaning she's missing the ports on her shoulders to mount her guns. She looks nice, though - I like the red, black and white paint apps better than Mirage's boring two-toned blue and white, and the paint on her shins, chest, shoulders and arms is nice and glossy, which gives her a more 'pristine' feel. Otherwise she's nothing too special - I'm a bit worried about her nice, shiny chest scraping the ground in car mode.

The last and ONLY figure of Dreamwave Fallen was indeed Titanium Series; which is doubly annoying, considering it was just a REDECO to look like The Fallen, and the mold was actually modeled on IDW Megatron's pre-Earth design. Fucking weird, and disappointing.

Unfortunately, he's assembled as intended - swapping the legs around to put them in their 'correct' orientation would make the knees bend the wrong way and would fuck with the transformation. They knew what they were doing, which is why they went through the effort of sculpting a set of fake wheels where they should have been on the old toy.

I know that, I can see that. But I need you to consider the following: IF they had engineered a second 180 rotation for the shins somewhere below the knee joint. Not only would the feet actually look right, but you'd also have the wheels on the inside, like the G1 toy, with NO NEED for half-assed faux wheel detailing! It just needed one more twist to work, and considering how hard (in places) they've been chasing G1 accuracy in Legacy (Blitzwing with that ridiculous Tank Cock for instance) I can only assume they ran out of budget or something and just went "fuck it. It stands. It's going to spend most of it's time bolted onto the Menasor frame anyway." and left it as we see it.

Dead End looks the way he does because they reused Dragstrip's engineering and transformation scheme. There's really only 3 completely original molds going into Menasor.
Makes me wonder what the core Volcanicus/Dinoking is going to look like, seems inevitable that combiner limbs will start sharing molds from here on out. Grimlock sharing a mold with Snarl would be interesting to see.

Finally got Jhiaxus in hand, hes really good, all the proportions feel just right, long smooth legs, chunky arms, the pinned hands is nice, the fists are a great shape, love the wings and wire detailing on his legs, the backpack is super clean, all the detailing really pops despite being all white, really excellent figure

Only complain is shoulder mobility is limited, arms swing out from the top and do that annoying thing where they stop at 70° you can rotate the bicep to get more but still lame, otherwise really love it

Not really, the thrusters and the top of the jet are on the same hinge so one will always be on the bottom and side that goes on top snugly secures the wing armature which otherwise is just hanging there

2 good robot modes, mostly shit vehicle mode. None of the 3P kits to enhance it are available anymore. You can still get MP-10 KOs on Aliexpress, or just splurge for either MPP10 or the slightly lesser but okay MMP10(also called XP-10). Just expect to buy the trailer separate.

No actual money has been collected for the project yet - you only get charged at the end of the funding period, and only if the project made it to it's first tier; if the project failed to get approved, you don't get charged at all. For example, none of the backers for that Ghost Rider one that just failed got charged for anything, because it never even reached it's basic goal.

Wildrider and Breakdown's backpacks were entirely intentional design choices because the designer wanted them to have a flowing trench coat look, like movie Crosshairs.
I guess since the toon doesn't give them anything to do with the car hoods, they decided to get fancy with it.

You have to pull the whole thing upwards on a spine. The yellow and green pieces aren't connected, they should separate naturally. I can't tell from that angle if you're doing it right.

As that other anon said, the entire torso block is connected to the hip assembly with a double hinge, so you have to extend the parts at 1 first. Then the front of the torso can be unhinged from the back at 2

From the one review I've seen, I converted from a firm "no" to a "yes". Didn't think I needed another Ironhide toy, but I am an Ironhide fag and this toy is the closest we have ever come to a toy that looks like pic related. The van mode grew on me too.

It's pretty sturdy and thicker than ER Ironhide's. Problem is it's unpainted in parts that are a bit obnoxious like the clavical area. Thing is if that WAS painted it'd be constantly scraped during transformation.

Honestly they should have just cast the translucent blue parts in red and painted the windows, the budget wouldn't have ended up changing any amount-wise from painting said blue parts red as is.

I'm not even talking about those, and I ended up trying multiple feet replacements and none of them were acceptable, especially the partsforming ones which refused to stay attached.

The partsforming top just doesn't line up properly, the robot mode shoulders stick out the sides painfully obviously, the plastic and paint colors are inconsistent across three shades of red and half the windows are left unpainted. That's not even including the feet sticking out the back.

Nonnef's feet work okay, I never tried the others. Though I got the DK2 black version so I never dealt with the color issue. The shoulders, yeah, they're dumb. Toyhax can fix the windows but I rarely use those as transformation seams just stand out worse.

But SS86 will be hampered by toon shit & the hip skirt is taking 10 years worth of steps back. The thing is deluxe size. They can do better now.

The color matching in alt mode is terrible, there are at least 4 different shades of red. HasTak really needs to sort that shit out, it’s embarrassing after doing this toy thing for so long they haven’t figured out that different plastics take pigments differently.
Parts of the alt mode have alignment issues for a lot of people and it’s very panely.
The over-reliance on clear plastic raises questions about the longevity of the toy. The way the windshield transforms, clear plastic hooking onto clear plastic, takes an undue amount of force but so far I’ve not read any stories of that part breaking and I can personally say transforming mine back a forth dozens of times, I’ve never felt like I was going to break anything and there are no visible stress marks anywhere.

All that said, this is the best official Ironhide ever. No other figure comes close to capturing the character like this one does. It looks great in bot mode, the transformation is interesting, and fun for me at least, and it feels great in hand. The plastic is dense and the figure has a satisfying weight to it. If you like the character at all then get this toy, HasTak will not surpass it for a very, very long time.

Funny enough it's the fault of the toy designs in the first place. It was an era where toys were bricks, so when you draw a robot based on that, you don't care about placing joints. Then when a limb has to move at all, you can just make something up. Scramble combiners just wind up weaker for it because their arms are entire vehicles and that's a lot harder for someone to "fake" a connection on than a generic robot piece.

to me this is acceptable. but I can see how the thighs might look a little scrawny. They're stickers. Do an Ebay search for "Legacy Scourge sticker" or "Legacy scourge upgrade" and you'll find it. They're pretty good quality, and a better deal than the stickers Toyhax did, especially if you don't feel like covering the whole trailer with decals.

I just got my SS86 Ironhide. I have the Siege Ironhide but not ER, so I only have that to compare with.

It's a little fiddly and needs some fixing here and there. I loosened the neck with shock oil and tightened some other parts with some floor polish.

Otherwise, it's pretty much the best G1 CHUG Ironhide. Overpriced, given that it's basically a 2010s Deluxe at a 2022 Voyager price point. But I've had Emohide, Energon Nothide, RiD Takara's RedPrimeHide, and a few others. Finally, after what, nearly 40 years? We've finally got a proper "deluxe" Ironhide. So yeah, I paid the premium for it.

It's not really much better compared to Siege but it's the best right now for its very particular/niche category.

The only good thing about the van mode is that it mostly looks like a van. Bot mode is fantastic, though. Sturdy, highly posable, and great proportions. Transformation is clever, but (at least with the one I got) feels like you're goong to break it when you try and get everything tabbed and flush in vehicle mode.

Got motormaster today, absolutely love it, all the joints are sturdy as fuck with good hefty ratchets, everything is locked in super securely, the proportions look great, nice feeling plastic, all around massive improvement over the cw days, only complaint is the loss of colour on the shins, the gray flaps are a bummer over some nice car hoods or at least some tampod toy style undercarriage over bland gray detailing, cant wait to complete the set

thanks for the heads up, yeah a couple of the parts on motormaster feel overly stiff, which is weird since the trailer does all the actual combiner stuff, i kinda felt that would be an issue with the shoulders after the first transformation so i've been making sure to lift them from the bottom of the white bit just in case, i also had an issue with the flaps that tuck into his legs getting stuck in, had to carefully use a razor to pry it open again

im sorry anon, the colours are so choice and the nonnef upgrades really help, if you're not that worried about sealed copies the set isn't super expensive on ebay, 150-200 usd which is about in line with the price of 4 deluxes and a voyager from mainline now, finding the upgrade might be trickier

For me was the blue skin on primal and the eyes on most of them, I one of the few who wanted cartoony beast heads, they just add personality.

I only look when I'm in town for work. It's a 30-40 min drive to get to work so I tie my hunts/looking around work or errands. It's the 3-5 of looking that get irritating, since that adds up when you just wanna head home. Is it so much to ask for a titan that accommodates core class? feel like omega is the only one that can do it well cause max sucks due to his half ass retooling. Base modes are so lackluster nowadays, nowhere for the guys to sit or stand. shit like g1 fortmax and grandus were cool, they had elevators and jails etc. Omega has open space atleast and his rocket doors and knee hatches.

Pretty much, ROTB is taking advantage of the fact Studio Series has existed for years as the line to dump toys of characters from the movie with the Generations budget and design that SS has all been about, meanwhile they can still push for the gimmick-y and simplified Cyberverse-like toys as the primary line to focus on. Basically what they did with Age of Extinction and Last Knight but going straight to Studio Series instead of making their own Generations type subline that will become obsolete with the more screen accurate SS.

I feel like it’s a bad idea but I really want to add Molotow chrome to that new Airrazor when it’s out. I feel like it should be appropriate given the techy nature of her design, and thank goodness for all her screws, but I don’t want to mess up her look. I don't think they'll ever touch anything Transmetals. For some reason Hasbro either conveniently forget Transmetals or hate it entirely because they never get brought up at all (Except for Optimal Optimus because of the POTP fan vote and Transmetal 2 Megatron which was probably made to rival that same POTP Optimal Optimus toy. Hasbro really likes to do Rival VS characters these days). The best they do is mechanize the S1 organic designs rather than going straight to Transmetals.

to be honest, the concept is not such a sacred cow to me that i'd be against reimagining it somewhat. especially just making them fully robotic, leaving out that fugly 'organic robot modes' idea which didn't even really come across well since they didnt use proper like matte paint for it to contrast it with the chrome.
