Well, I'm almost 40. I've collected figures all my life, never really stopped buying them. I've always like military stuff the best, so when Mega CoD came out I got a set to fiddle in my home office. Immediately realized it was an amazing line, so I sold all my other figures and went all in on Mega. Now I'm buying Gi Joe Classified and 1/12 clothed military figures, but if Mega kept the CoD line I would have kept buying.

I know the feeling.
I found a really good place for pics but it's next to a pretty much abandoned tennis court next to my building that kids hang out at after school so I have been taking shots before they get home from school. When they have showed up they actually have been okay and pretty much left me to my devices. Except for one little guy who was doing backflips off rocks onto concrete.
When he started that I GTFO-ed as I did not want to explain brain splatter.

What’s your favorite mini-fig? I’m not really one for favourites, but me and this guys have history; one of my first Halo Mega sets, broke his hands by having him use Lego weapons, and burned him using a candle in the midst of the hurricane Sandy power outage.

I've almost reached the end of my journey with Mega.
I have every Promethean mold
Every Flood mold
Every Halo 3 classic spartan
Every classic Marine mold
Every Halo Reach classic spartan
Every gen 2 grunt mold
All jackal molds
Both types of hunters
Every Halo CE elite rank (except the gold elite, I'm working on that), plus the Ranger and Ultra ranks. All custom, using classic elite heads
Every brute rank using classic brute heads and parts
Soon I will have a bunch of printed Plasma Pistols for my grunts (I only use printed weapons and have almost every weapon mold in print)

Yet at the end of the day I feel... empty? Was the adventure of skimming trough Chinese sites in dire hopes of finding ancient toys better than actually playing with them? I guess I'll just have to buy myself a new phone, finally build dioramas and make some photos

it seems much bigger than the inn in the Witcher set. 80 bux.
Also, whenever I mention MEGA doing a Vikings IP I actually mean a smaller sets using something like the container pieces. - more like a small set you could buy 1 or two of (to make it bigger) with a blacksmith and maybe an assistant, a weapons rack and a couple of swords, and a hammer an anvil. (maybe $20 to $30 at most.)
Ditto a small longhouse that could be expanded, a fisherman's shack and one or two smaller buildings.

On the topic of (not)lego accessories, I've been using these POGO rifles-with-spikes and guns-with-blades for Halo Brutes since Mega Maulers and Spikers cost more than the figures themselves. Their handles are just slightly too big for Mega like most bootleggo stuff so I had to file them down slightly to prevent stressmarks on the Mega hands.

I pulled the trigger on 2 Castle Grayskulls when it went down to $150 to build a four-walled version as a high-level dungeon. I'm building an inn from multiple American Girl Grace's House sets I sourced for like $25 each off eBay.
The big trick will be to source bricks for a starter dungeon and learn techniques to make interesting rooms.

I got the flame effects in so yeah, the wrist pieces are way too small to fit on Mega hands, whether it's the old or new jackal molds, they rely on that tiny gap before the lego hands that Mega's don't have.

I've also figured out a solution to the tiny Jackal shields, and that is to simply give them to the smaller, older jackal mold. The larger jackals are now repurposed as snipers since they don't have that shield-projecting bangle sculpted anyways.

Lol Fortnite was huge ever since the streamers got their grubby, fat, sweaty hands on it. And because it's developed by a studio that cares about LIVE service (unlike Halo Shitfinite)

You'd think Mega would have financial problems because their products don't sell but it's the opposite, everyone (addicted*) wants to buy them but they can't.
I have no idea what Mattel is doing, is it intentional sabotage like EA buying up studios to kill them? Mattel products are still being sold worldwide so why not invest in a Brand with actual recognition like Mega Construx??? For fucks sake my Lego stores even sell shit from China. They do, with either lego or those 12 inch cheap marvel toys. Those sell like gangbusters. Of course, toys don't sell as much as before.

Kids don't watch western cartoons because there's no action cartoons to watch, anime is huge now. Kids watch a ton of anime and read a lot of manga.

Anyway, any license mega touches will fail with them because they're morons. Aliens has had toys in stores for almost 20 years now, and mega did not release a single ripley. Same with terminator. I'm starting to think there's some scam going on behind the scenes, because this much incompetence in marketing, distribution, licensing is too much. It doesn't make sense.

Doubt it was a flop, they have the perfect fanbase for that IP. I think it was just meant to be some limited series. I personally thought the sets were underwhelming and shit. Wouldn't be any different with MEGA but the figures would be cooler at least. What a waste of a series.

There is a "Mega Blocks Inc." that says it's open to the public an hour and a half away from my home. (Toronto)
I'm going to give it a call and actually see if it's a store or a warehouse / factory and see if you can buy stuff.(The open Wednesday)

Kind of a random thought, but I was painting some Warhammer 40k minis (haven't played my first game yet), and I thought it would be cool to have a Warhammer type game, but in the Halo Universe and you could use Mega Construx as your game pieces. They're much cheaper than Warhammer, slightly bigger, poseable, and you can swap out their weapons whenever you want. They just need little bases to stand on. They could make codexes for the UNSC, Covenant, Heretics, Flood, Banished, and Prometheans

I guess this is more of a Warhammer post, but I thought it would be cool to use my mega construx that way

I remember when Mega started the Break Outbeasts series and they sold like hot cakes, Mattel won't sell Mega as long as they bring in money.

They tried, huge pitch even, the drop pods were dif Llamas or smt if I recall correctly and also used really colourful crates from the CoD line. It was likely either killed by legal during licensing discussions. Shame too, lots of neat ideas for the Bus as well as essentially "generic" woodland and city sets with crazy figs and weird coloured guns.

You'd be surprised how often the MEGA designers make a full pitch for a license, going all out with mind blowing sets, only to have it shut down by some failure by Legal or Marketing /Pitch teams. Mattel also stunts a lot of projects and distribution, but promise to do better this year, like every year.

Tbf. A Lot of companies also see the pitches, and then say no and go to Lego and ask them to do a pitch, and then 2-3 years later we see a new license or kit that is...surprisingly familiar -_-

MEGA minecraft, Cyberpunk 2077, Star Wars etc. All dead :/
