Mech anons, I need help making effective shields. For marvel sized mechs, I haven't been able to make a good design. Preferably one that can switch from forearm to forward facing like gundam. In my testing most of the time I have forgone shields, but when I have them the would usually be mounted on a separate sub mixels sub arm attached either to the backpack or upper arm. It's not ideal, I'm looking for a better arm. I find shields don't really do much, at most it's a piece of armor that get's blasted off with one shot but it's better than nothing/losing the entire arm in one shot, so in that regard it's very gundam, I'm just looking for a more effective design out there. Thanks.

I've gravitated more towards beam shields. Because they are regenerating. They can at least block some damage but they are not really effective in battle. Just a very small armor rating. But the arm still sustains massive damage. I have plenty of other shields I just havent found a good way to connect them to the arm. I know the captain america mech has that big circular shield. Mech anons, please show your shields. I can do even with big window riot shields I can use. Any help is appreciated. It's been a problem for a while, shields are cool and I would like to use them more in my mechs.

Is it just me, or the upcoming modular looks somewhat off? I mean the facade. It looks kinda cheap, colors seem mismatched and there is overall lack of detail, and if there are some, they're made with the most basic building techiques. It's like this time Lego has stolen Lepin's design. I will buy it eventually, like a good fag consoomer, but this set makes me more confident in my own facade designs

Does he throw the shield like a big shuriken or something? Doesn't really work in a setting without magic powers or anything, the damage has to be purely kenetic and at that point it's better to use a gun. (also dislike throwing lego at lego for damage, it's very rough on the parts, but I do admit battle damaged lego does look cool).

If you mean an offensive shield like a Trikeros, that's what I was thinking too. Just combine the gun+shield and that would also hopefully help the problem with big guns just being destroyed outright. That's probably what I'm going to start doing if I can't find a simple effective way to mount shields.

Defensor units is also an idea I have toyed with. If it's not possible or just extremely awkward and impractical for the common grunt mech to equip a shield, just have heavily armored specialized units (reinforced limbs, dedicated shield arms) to act as tanks for the other mechs to hide behind.

I just like shields though but i've just never managed to make them work. Hope there's some anon out there that can help.

i see your point. i think my issue is kind of that it feels like the two sets should be swapped. the three regular troopers should be in the "cheap" set to allow you to most effectively build higher numbers of base clones, and then the various specialised ones should be in the more expensive set with the more fleshed out models, since you dont need as many of them. not exactly hard to figure out why lego did it the opposite way round

But all you guys can do is bitch about the soul staus of sets as if you can't change them to your "soulful" wants and requirements. In conclusion, soulfags are just another form of dust collectors except while also being creatively bankrupt by seeing sets as nothing more than model kits, they are also physically bankrupt, because if they owned half the sets they say are soulful they would soon realise it all means nothing when you weren't the one to design it yourself.

Well the company of the set I showed is call CADA and their bricks are identical and in some instances better than legos. They don't have the dimples some Chinese bricks have where the plastic injection takes place. Another brand I tested out was xing bao. These bricks where of a less quaility but the set was also from 2016 and I understand quality has massively increased since then across then. However it was never enough for me to get pissed off and for the price I payed for it being 0.015 a piece I still feel way better about it then some of the lego purchases I made up till that point of switching over to the cheap chink shit

Got my son the current lego train station as a reward for bring good while I was away and fuck me it's a huge set. It's a really great station. He's getting 2 (two) lego city express passenger train sets for Christmas so He's going to be living the dream.

Lego sets are great these days, I wish I got the full trainset in the 90s with the metroliner. I never got the station or dining car.

Imo they made the tentacles needless bulky and squarish, I feel this way they are slightly longer and the rounded tips make it seem more organic despite having more visible studs. Also not a fan of the white googly eyes, the green studs with holes were pointlessly hidden inside it for the alternate builds

Tried yet another tentacle design I'm even happier with. Also made the tough decision to remove the front and back arms as I didn't really like their placement. Sorry if it triggers any zoologists but if the number of tentacles bothers you so should the fact they were wrongly positioned.
Once again used more hidden interior pieces for a different eye design, still not sure if I like these or the green ones more.

Completely accurate post. Every one of us has a different definition of what's SOUL when it comes to Lego. To some it's Legoland-era sets that only have minifigs with the classic smiley face, to others it's everything before the swap from Old Grey to Light Bluish Grey, and to someone else relatively recent themes like Chima and Hidden Side would be considered to be "Soulful". Your post and the retards you're replying to made me think of that image that gets reposted a ton of the Medieval Blacksmith and the "Classicified" version of it that they claim to be more SOULful, while at the end of the day it's the exact same thing but with a different coat of paint that they just happen to like more.

Like you said, the beauty of Lego is that you can make it whatever the fuck you want it to be. Don't like how a set that just came out is in some shitty new color like Medium Azure? Just swap the bricks out for normal Blue or whatever color you'd prefer it to be. Don't like the minifigs that come with the set you just bought because it's got some modern woke shit like a hearing aid or vitiligo? Well congrats, there's thousands of different heads out there to choose from to replace them with. I went to all 3 of my local wal marts and all of them have entire shelves filled with galaxy explorers.

It's sad to see, it's such a fantastic kit but kids / parents just aren't buying it. There's no a large enough market of classic space autists like me to get these awesome kits to sell.

At first I was quite hyped, I wanted Lego to make some non-IRL military stuff for a long time. I was already desiging some secret mech station for my planetary defence force in my diorama, but oh boy, Lego has not delivered. Their mech looks shitty, just compared to some MOCs you can find online its a joke. Chopper in the other sets looks a bit better but not to much, only build I like is that little human base in the chopper set.

I honestly think its the solely designer's fault. Piece count on his mech is large, they could be used differently for better result. Just the designer was usnable to do better, was prevented from doing so, or didnt even want to. You know, some art fags kinda don't like military. I know I'm entering shizo territory, but beliefs do impact aritst's work. Lego higher-ups could prevent the mech from having a gun thou. Only marvel/DC and star-wars can have deadly weapons included.

This set is unique because we see the Falcon’s defending an area rather than attacking, again a generous number of figures and the ability to fold the castle wall up (or connect it to another structure) makes this set rank highly. The siege engine is also very nice and gives the crusaders something to use, overall a very good set.

It was never made clear if this set was a Falcon set or not, the figs do not have the Falcon printing (just the regular chainmail) and they wear grey helms but they do have a single shield, so the question remains open, personally I would say no, but feel it's inclusion is important because of the shield. As well as the confusion, the set also receives very little in the way of weapons a single crossbow which sadly comes with no quiver (very cheep of LEGO); the only real highlights are the oars (rather new at the time) and a barrel (for the same reason). 1/2

Wrong. The vehicles were good. Just not every build was well done. Pic related, the tank is good. The helicopter not.
The problem in my eyes was the 50% bad sets, the Speedorz gimmick and the semi bad series. It felt like aiming at very young kids while it should have aimed at Ninjago fans. At least that was the purpose to replace Ninjago and should have been targeted at similar target group!

Honestly couldn't believe this one when it came out. Had all of 4 seconds of screentime in the movie.
Someone on the inside is based beyond belief and i made her a canon of my headcanon as I liked her so much despite pretty much only having custom characters in my little street. I give her different outfits though.

Set Name = Black Knight’s Treasure 6011
Piece Count = 25
Year Released = 1985

This set is special because it was the first set to be released with a chest and oddly enough the chest was a light grey colour (the first and only time) so possibly this is the rarest chest ever. The singular Falcon is sufficient to guard the chest because it comes with nothing in it, the yellow colour scheme on the saddle goes well with a yellow falcon shield, but sadly the set comes with out a shield, so it looks a little odd. Overall the set is a little sparse for this era but a good set to build some Falcon Cavalry with.

Piece Count = 52
Year Released = 1988
This set came rather later in the Falcon’s era and sadly it does not fit very well with much, the white and red is not a scheme used before and hence does not fit well outside any of the castles. Personally I saw it as an add-on pack for the Knight’s Challenge (1584) set (the jousting set with Crusaders and Black Knights). With the inclusion of this set you receive three Knights to joust against each other in the tournament, other than that; the biggest highlight of the set is the Black Feathers (which are quite rare). Is it possible, that with a Black Helm, Black Armour, Black Trousers and a Black Feather, that we are see the actual Black Falcon? I will let you decide.

Set Name = Black Falcon’s Fortress 6074 and 10039
Piece Count = 430
Year Released = 1986 and 2002
The second Falcon castle, this set is a lot more aesthetically pleasing than the first, The small yellow structure at the back (possibly a chapel) is a nice counter to the grey of the walls, the yellow flags on the front also help tie this image together. Unique to this set is the small blue flag with the Falcon’s symbol upon it, whilst the yellow timber frame was first seen here (and only used once after this). The only criticism I would give to this set is the lack of shields, the previous castle was very generous but with this set less so. Overall that is a minor complaint and the set was so popular it was re-released in the Legends series in 2002, proving its high quality (on a minor note, in 1986 both this set and the Guarded Inn were build and then released as Legends sets, 1986 was a good year for castle).

The Falcon’s in this set are merely antagonists and the only thing to really note here is the unusual grey helm on the archer and the grey trousers on both of them (possibly the uniform was greying with age?). As these were the last Falcon’s to be realised (ever) they could be the final warriors fleeing the land and being harassed as they go by the Black Knights Fleet.

They have reappeared a few times as just figures but yeah, this was the end of the theme as such. I have most of the sets but I don't have either 6057 or 6035. Managed to pick up 6974/10039 boxed with instructions a couple of years ago and it was more than complete (had some extra pieces in it too). Fantastic castle overall, one of the best of that era.

Though the Falcon’s never received a maiden to protect, a leader to lead or even the largest of back stories, I personally like them the most out of the six none outlaw factions in the old wave (Crusaders, Black Falcons, Black Knights, Dragon Knights, Lion Knights and Fright Knights). This was possibly due to the fact that I saw them as the underdog, not strong enough to own a huge castle or an array of siege equipment but also not cool enough to live in a forest or wear only soft hoods and steal from others (Forestmen and Wolfpack reference for those who didn’t get that) they were the middle faction one often over looked and mocked by the mighty Cruaders and Black Knights or the truly unique like the Forestmen or Wolfpack. This appeals to me, if I was a Lego figure I would be a weak generic and often over looked Falcon.

I think they just made a lot of stock of it. Just a single store but I got mine on release day and the store was completely cleaned out despite having over 100 of them. Not even modulars sell out day 1 at the store.

I thought thought that Nostalgiafags would have eaten that that shit up, after the popularity of Benny in the Lego Movies. I couldn't find the Benny's Space Squad anywhere back in 2019 when the Lego Movie 2 sets launched, I ended up ordering a set from Germany and it took ages to come. But then again the last Lego Movie came out, like 4 years ago and it bombed in theatres because "get woke, go broke".

amazon sent 2 of the same set (7623) by mistake way back when. I still have the duplicate set NIB. I have watched the price slowly crawl up for it in recent years, I would've thought the golden idol as the most expensive piece but the gray ball is absurdly expensive even though afaik it has been in a handful of other sets?

I remember building the Camouflaged Outpost on my living room floor while watching the three amigos. I went thru my dark age until I had a job and was married. I cracked the set out and rebuilt it. Only recently I got deeper into bricklink minifig pricing due to missing a few members of the fellowship (haha fuck you not paying $60 for pippin), and realized this fucker is $70. Who the fuck knows why this shit gets valuable.

I would sell your set while it's still worth money though, with them bringing back Indiana Jones this year it's only a matter of time that they produce new IJ sets including a temple.

Also I don't understand when you say the part was in 1 set when it was also in several lego duplo sets, unless you mean specifically the gray version.
Again, the same set has an exclusive golden idol that is only in one set but isn't worth nearly as much as the plain gray ball but apparently people really want that fucking ball rather than the golden idol.

Disney owns the rights to Indiana Jones, so it makes perfect sense that Lego, who already partners a ton with Disney for their sets will be producing more sets.
