I wonder what they'll do about Pikachu because I don't see them ditching the mas of because he generates a lot of merch.
Maybe they'll introduce a new one? That could get around the whole problem of Pikachu being OP but losing to a weak pokemon at the start of a region.

Pikachu could just cameo or be a school Pokemon. I don't think they'd need to regularly feature it. It'll still be the Pokemon mascot regardless.

Maybe if they ever got back to making movies they'll feature Ash and Pikachu there. I remember reading that they originally gave Ash a Pikachu to not alienate viewers by picking a starter that they didn't choose out of the 3 options. Seems like the new girl is picking Sprigatito or maybe between the two characters they'll have all 3.

A lot of newer mon designs focus on large, simple, blobby shapes to lean on cute plush and static figure designs IMO. Really makes it hard to make articulated figures look good though. Just take a look at Typhlosion with this large, plain underbelly. Looks crazy when cut up by articulation.

AFAIK one doesn't exist. I've genuinely considered creating one for non-plush figures/statues but finding high quality images of anything past like 8 years ago is a nightmare and with no current domestic Pokemon product available in any good capacity online, there's not really good opportunities for any amazon affiliate kickbacks so it would just be throwing money away.

There technically aren't 'waves'. Every figure is shipped to stores in solid cases and stores can order whichever they want. A more accurate things would be to say various figures have 'order windows' the stores can select and order them. Charizard is obviously one of the most popular Pokemon of all time so obviously they keep allowing stores to re-order more Charizard to have an A-lister on shelves as much as possible.

In the previous thread, someone who works at Target said that Typhlosion is the next one being delivered to stores and was due some time in January. So most likely Targets will be getting solid cases of Typhlosion around then. But its also hard to tell whats selling best since some stores may over order a single figure, which is why you see pics of some Targets with like 15-20 of one figure. If this line was sold in assorted cases where each was packed evenly, then we could more easily be able to tell which were selling best.

Yeah, not denying that, but the anime created so many merchandise opportunities for Pikachu that I don't believe a company would just readily give it up unless they had a new method.
But then again this whole thing was a suprise, I thought they'd never move on from Ash so maybe they will move on from Pikachu too (in the anome at least).

If you recall it was always like that in the US, they shipped them out in solid cases. In Canada they ship them in their listed assortments, 1 of each. I assume the option to order solid cases is there, but I've never seen so many of a single figure that I would assume that.

For stuff made of plastic myfigurecollection has a pretty solid database. Some old stuff from the late 90s might have a single low quality photo but its there and you'll know that it exists. Due to how big pokemon is and how much stuff comes out there's always going to be some stuff that slips through. If you also care about non licensed stuff like some of the stuff on aliexpress then that's more stuff that's technically out there but going to be difficult to track by nature.

From what I've seen he has pretty good articulation for being so chunky and only 20. Due to the holidays I can't really toss money around right now. I technically could but I stick my budgets. I'll grab him next month for sure. He won't shoot up in price or be hard to get a hold of will he? Skimming the thread makes it seem like there's plenty of him to go around.

by picking the Jazwares Cahrizard the ONLY thing you're missing out on is the paint job and quality material of the SH Charizard.
in everything else (articulation, size, maybe sculpt) you could argue that Jazwares is better

That's interesting. I guess that's at Walmart in Canada? The 6" Selects are basically Target exclusives in the US aside from Amazon and occasionally Gamestop. They all seem to be getting solid cases all the time, but the US gets them sooner than Canada and Europe.

I haven't seen these at Walmart since wave 1. I recently saw wave 2 at TRU, and wave 3 has recently shown up at Gamestop, so just using those 2 as my basis. Yes, they definitely show up in the States sooner, at least so far. I believe we get some other SKUs first, like the 2" figures.

They're both pretty horrible though. Articulation is missing a few vital points that make any decent posing useless, and both are so horribly out of scale with everything else that there's hardly any saving graces for them. Lucarios are plagued with horrible eye print placement too on most.

Some people will always feel the more expensive one is better because POORFAGZZ. I honeslty think the joints are integrated into the sculpt more seamlessly on the SHF one, but for $20 you really can't beat the value the Jazwares one brings and it's not bad by any means. Just not as streamlined as it could be.

Totally agree. But theres still a lot Jazwares could have done to make Charizard's joints look better. Most of their Selects actually. There's a lot of ways many of the joints on Charizard could have been designed differently. It's pretty obvious they're outsourcing the cutting of the articulation and joint design to some third party, possibly at the factory level. Almost all of the joints on every single Select they've done are not refined nearly as much as they could be, and in many cases, designing them differently would have made them look much better.

Lucario's legs are so frustrating to look at, much less pose! There's no way someone who loves action figures, actually poses them, and understands anatomy designed that leg articulation. We've got redundant rotation in multiple areas, unsightly ball joint thrown in there for no reason, zero ankle pivot which makes many realistic poses impossible.....

But we know the next few 6" Selects, and Environment base wave 2, we know the next 4.5" wave only has one new figure - Luxray, the next battle figure wave after the Shinx/Luxio/Marill wave is unknown currently, as is the next clip n go wave after the Gen 5 starter wave

I actually picked up an amogus figure the other day and realized the little hand pegs would be really easy for them to do for Terralized pokemon. There's a easy to remove/add peg slot on the fronts for the hands and on the head for a hat.

It'd unfortunately make a whole bunch of Pokemon have a peg slot in their head though.

Thats also IF they even do that. We didn't get any english dynamax merch i dont think besides the plush?

I highly doubt they'd do terrastalized Pokemon. To be accurate, they'd need new sculpts that have the Pokemon themselves look like diamonds with all those flat little faces all over. Plus then they'd have to give it a very difficult and expensive paint job to make it look diamond but still showing the details/colors of the mon itself.

I went in completely blind and loved it. Didn't like all the designs, but it was fun catching new Pokemon and evolving them. I never found the Tauros variants during my playthrough, I think that would have been a fun surprise after how lackluster I thought the mono fighting Tauros were.

What 'delays' are you talking about anyway? The figures have been nearly impossible to find because they ship such small quantities to each retailer and then nothing else, but they do come out relatively when they're supposed to

Just new products. There's no way we were supposed to only get just 2 figures in wave 2 of Select, and 1 in wave 3, and then what was it, like 2 new 4.5" figures? At least for Selects we had listings for another 7 figures that we've yet to see. Ultimately it's speculation, but it seems pretty safe to say that there were some delays in production.

Those aren't 'delays'. That's them only planning one or two new figures each wave and relying on re-packs too much. Those lineup changes for the waves changed in the planning stages prior to being officially solicited to distributors. Maybe their budgets got slashed and they only had tooling budget to do the bare minimum new figures for each wave, but almost every single SKU across their Pokemon lines had that issue so who the hell knows. The bigger issue by far is how little they produce of each wave. It just doesn't make sense why you wouldn't want product on shelves consistently for the biggest IP in the world.

Those leaked Select listings like 2 years ago were just early plans that clearly changed along the way.

They were from August of 2021, really not that long ago and certainly not two years. They also did have listed dates. I'm not going to argue semantics with you, especially when an internal delay (delays at the factory, delays in production, etc) could fully be the cause for why we have yet to see certain product.

Which figures are you even referring to though? Every single 6" Select that's been pictured on the back of a box has been released. Charizard was the first Select figure and came out in June of 2021. The leaked list of 8 Pokemon that was first posted to NintendoMerchIG and we assumed was the initial plans for waves 1 and 2 was from Feb 1, 2021, before we had even seen pics of Charizard.

All of the ones that were skipped for now are basically top tier in terms of popularity too, I feel they'll probably come eventually. I can't imagine decision makers going "yea no one is going to want Mewtwo and Tyranitar let's do someone else". Well the entire line is legendaries, starters, and 'top tier' mons so far and probably all the time. Probably just a matter of them having to cut several figures to hit targeted costs, and some had to go. Hopefully a matter of when and not if, like you say. If they at least did some designing on those cancelled mons, they can place them further along in the line.

The releases really need to pick up the damn pace though. Hopefully Typhlosion does hit in Jan and Dragapult/Samurott are the next two months after.

NTA but that's my frustration with these Jazwares Pokemon figures. They're absolutely impossible to find in the US so it's either pay scalper prices and spend about $30 for each 4" figure or pay about the same when importing them, but they're such cheap little figures that are designed so poorly it hurts my soul to spend that much on them. I'd have no issue dropping liek $10 in stores if I saw them on the shelves, but spending like $30 each on happy meal quality toys that are hardly ever scaled properly with anything else hurts!

Smoliv, Wooper, Wiglett? Boring as hell designs that would make boring figs. Plenty of other better options from Mons revealed once the game came out.

Farigiraf and Gimmighoul seem unlikely due to their designs. They'd have to make Farigiraf one of those jumbo sized figures since the neck would be way too thin if they did it as the normal 1.5"-ish size. Seems unlikely. And ditto for Gimmighoul's chest form anyway. Too many super small details that wouldn't be feasible in a 1.5" figure. I guess the roaming form is more likely as a small figure though.

I'd love a good database too like some others were saying earlier in this thread or the last. That site has nicely lit, clear pics (which most don't!) which are consistent across all the entries, but the layout is horrible. They really need to have a better organization and also state dates and sizes of the figures along with the names/companies. It's such a shame there's no good database for Tomy figures and domestic figures from the last several years.

First time I came across them you couldn't even select which pokemon you wanted, just a "wave 10" and good luck getting the one you want. So that put me off buying from them for a good while.
Only around Rayquaza's release did I notice they finally made them selectable with a "cancel if not available" option.

But then you need the hats. And only a couple of them even really seem reasonable in 3d. Most of them have more complex designs than the Pokemon themselves and many look like they would need a lot of intrusive clear support stands to even stay in place. Fire, Water, Grass, Ghost, Flying, etc look like they have incredibly narrow supports attaching them to the Pokemon. Psychic and Fighting look like they have actual floating bits. Only a handful like Normal, Poison, Rock and Steel seem reasonable.

I 100% disagree. They'd just all look like Porygon versions of themselves. TPCi is notoriously strict about merch designs and making sure things look accurate. For that reason and the issue with all these ridiculous hats that would be hard to pull off in 3D, I doubt we say any terrastalized mon merch at all.

I'm SHOCKED this is the gimmick they went with because it seems the least able to merchandise of all the previous ones. Unless talking about the TCG where they will probably do lots of gimmicky holographic stuff.

Does anyone here actually have Select Greninja? All I remember hearing when it was out was that it’s too big (which doesn’t really matter to me now that Pokemon size variations are in the games) and doesn’t balance well, but aside from those issues it looks like a solid figure, and more posable than the other Greninja options. Tons of people got it and most agreed it was a shitty figure. I had it but sold it because it was too frustrating. Too large for me (I care about scale), some horribly designed joints especially in the legs where it matters most, the tongue was solid plastic and too heavy to stay up on its own, hands are not joints so they are stuck in that flat open position, etc etc. There's almost no redeeming qualities about it.

Its probably tied with the Tomy one IMO for best Greninja in terms of scale and posability. But the stickers on the Plamo do suck, and those open gaps throughout the figure. But for the anon with that collection above, I think Jazwares 4.5" would be best since most of those mons in their display are undersized and the crouching Greninja would probably look best with them.

It's a bad toy. more posable? maybe. but that doesn't mean it can hold whatever you're trying to do. it comes with a stand, but any toy that needs a stand to stand up is bad toy design. the Tomy US's and Plamo are hard to pose too, but it makes up for having joints in the right places. for the latter, i had to shave off a few pieces like the tongue scarf to really make it work though

Having owned all the Greninja figures. I agree with you 100%. Both those pictured Tomy ones are far better than the Jazwares one. Those two can actually stand on their own, and joints (while less of them) are designed much better. The Jazwares one has useless legs, feet that won't support its weight, tongue with a ton of cuts in it that can't support the weight, loose knee joints that swivel freely on the three Select Greninjas I bought. The Jazwares one is such a mess in every way. Their worst Select figure by a mile.

That’s a shame. I had and sold the Tomy and Plamo Greninjas and was thinking about giving the Select one a shot. They’re both good figures, but I never cared for the proportions of the Tomy one, and while it was well-balanced and decently articulated, its joint setup and sculpting made it look stiff and awkward in most poses. The Plamo one fared better in looks, articulation, and accessories, but its lightweight feel and stickers turned me off. I still have Tomy Ash-Greninja though, just cause that’s the only figure that design will ever get. The double elbows and tongue joints alone made me think Select Greninja might be right for me. I watched a few video reviews and their opinions seemed pretty good. One guy had his freestanding no problem, and loose joints can always be tightened. If I get one anyway and it does suck, you can all tell me you told me so.

Idk, you must have super low bar for what makes a good figure then. I'm in the US so I'll have to import or pay scalper prices of $30+ for that keep in mind. But even if I found it at retail for $12, it's too small to scale with their other figures, the paint job on the black stripes have looks messy on all the ones I've seen including yours, the eyes on all of them are painted too low (the entire red circle should not be visible, It should be cut off by the yellow part above the lack stripe), the articulation is crap due to the action feature, and like you said - the action feature doesn't even work hardly.

So let me check my notes... We get a too small, poorly articulated Electivire in this 4" line just so it can be given an action feature that barely works anyway. Yay? These 4" figures are just such objectively bad figures. No way around it. Look at what else $12 gets you from other lines form Jazwares. Super articulated Fortnite figure (35-40+ parts) with an accessory, super articulated Halo figure (35-40+ parts) with accessory, or a cheaply made, minimally articulated Pokemon figure that is out of scale with everything else. We getting the short end of the stick and some of you are acting like they are doing god's work.

Jazwares repacks and re-releases all the Pokemon figures so many dang times that I'm sure that more than makes up for the unique tooling each figure requires. again, bringing up Shiny Pokemon would be cool but i wonder what *is* allowed in the Pokemon figure merchandise. We know that Pearlescent paintjobs are ok (both Jazwares and Funko do this) but is that it?

They're allowed to do minor variations like slapping a winter hat on certain Pokemon but i also wonder if they could do other things. The Plush have lots of variables (like the new corduroy ones but also stuff like the "Selects" line of plush that are monocolor, or things in other countries like the solid black Pokemon plush.

Pokemon could do a lot with variants or special chase figures like an all chrome/silver ones or glow in the dark. Skylanders did that and collectors loved hunting them down, and kids seemed to enjoy hunting for them too.

Jakks is re-visiting the World of Nintendo line and the new 4" figures look so much better than the older ones. Better sculpts, super articulated (double jointed knees and elbows even!), many more paint apps, included accessory. They look very good for the price ($10-12). These easily have at least 3x as many parts and at least 3x as many paint apps as the Jazwares 4" Pokemon, yet sell for the same price. These are most definitely aimed at kids but adult toy collectors can easily enjoy them too. So again, why should Pokemon fans have to just accept that "this is for kids so we should expect crappy toys"?

I almost wonder if someone was fired, and everything they worked on was dropped (perhaps for legal reasons). Could explain the apparent lack of new releases in Select, and why 'later' figures are getting released before the 'previous' ones since they have to go back and get them done again.

No, lol. That's not how the toy industry or most any industries work. Whatever you work on when an employee of some place is their property, not yours. The most obvious answer that's clear as day is that Jazwares was cost cutting as much as they could across many Pokemon lines for whatever reason. The leaned so heavily on re-releases instead of new figures for all the various SKUs so much more than ever before.

Yeah its weird for sure. I don't think any of their other licenses have been plagued with as many re-released and repacks as their Pokemon lines. It very well could be an insanely slow approval process at TPCi that causes things to not make the cut in time for waves. Who knows. But it's not just their 6" Select line. The 2-3" battle figure waves and the 4.5" waves have also been super light on new figures. Many waves have been more than half re-releases, and we had that one 4.5" wave that was 100% re-releases, and a few battle figure waves that only had 3 new figures out of 9 slots.

We often see interesting posing across the whole line, and sometimes additional move based accessories to accompany Pokemon that other companies will never make figures of. If the Battle action doesn't work great, it doesnt matter because im not playing with it. And it doesn't matter if YOU don't like it when you play with it, because my little cousin loves her battle action swinging Scizor that is 'objectively' dogdhit.

I find myself feeling happy that we are getting Magmortar, Cinderace, Tyrunt, Duskull, Lugia, all in different and interesting sizes and poses with fire blasts and fire balls. They all look really nice when they're sealed in box, too!

Some could have sat in the oven longer, I agree, Blastoise's face.. I'm looking at you, but none of them I feel are dealbreakers for their price.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You're allowed to love these $12 figures. Just saying, these are objectively much poorly made and a much worse bang for your buck than all the other $12 figures out there, even made by this same company.

Scale and action feature aside, even what little paint apps these have can't even be done right. Like at least paint Electivire's toe nails correctly, make the eye deco hit the correct spot, paint the black lines more cleanly, etc. Idk. I'll defend Jazwares for all their other Pokemon lines but this 4" line just aint it I'm sorry to say.

This I can almost entirely agree with. I love the effort in Selects, I love the solid PVC of the 2 and 3" figures, and the 4.5" figures are clearly the outlier among all of them, but at the same time I can't help but really enjoy the ones I do have, like Sharpedo and Aerodactyl. I guess perhaps because these gimmicks are more or less unobtrusive, and the figures still have some solidly functional articulation.

As someone who just started buying these figures I'll throw in my two cents no one asked for. I've gotten some old WCT battle packs from Ross and some solo Jazwares figs from Five Below. Overall, I like 'em. The sculpts are real nice and I don't mind the lack of articulation on these small guys, because any articulation they WOULD have really wouldn't be too useful and might just look ugly. The only problem I have with them is how bad the quality control can be. Seems like it was worse when they came out under WCT, but these Jazwares ones suffer from the same issues, just not to the same extreme. Almost all of them (baring one or two) have poorly aligned paint apps or misglued pieces. Yeah, these are literally toys made for children, but considering Pokemon is like one of the highest grossing media franchises in the world, you'd think they'd try a little harder. If they could crack down on QC, they'd be really good. As it stands though, they're serviceable. They look good together as a group and I like having my favorite designs as little figures. I could see my nephews really loving them too.

The shoddy paints are the main potential source of issues, but otherwise ya, they're solid. The discussion above is more about the 4.5" figures, usually with a little bit of articulation and an action gimmick. They usually don't feel as solid as their smaller counterparts, and have a gimmick that impedes what it could otherwise have been, which is a better designed figure with some good, basic articulation.

They weren't the most articulated thing, or best designed (especially compared to later releases) but they were at a basic price point that would probably be what the current 4.5" figures are today.

I also made an Incineroar comparison (with a weird bootleggy pic from Aliexpress that points out the articulation) but that one almost doesn't seem fair. The Snorlax comparison could be another, where Jazwares Snorlax basically just lays there static while the Tomy one is a full action figure. They were really hitting their stride by the end of the line, and maybe not like the later ones, but we should at least be able to see things to the level of their Machamp, Greninja, Mewtwo, or Mega Lucario, or even Mega Mawile which was a bit more basic, I think.

While WCT and Jazwares both had/have issues with paint, those 2-packs you got from Ross are bootlegs, not made by WCT or Jazwares. This is one of the more crazy things I've seen in the toy world in years, but it seems Ross (or whoever their parent company is) literally ordered bootleg merch and that's what they're selling. That's why those paint jobs are especially bad, why the plastic quality is so shitty, and why those packages have some errors such as typos/miscolored parts as well.

You can tell they are 100% bootlegs aside from how shitty the QC is, due to the fact that Scorbunny is not using the WCT mold, but the Tomy Moncolle mold. There is no way in the world Jazwares would be in possession of the Tomy mold or be using it. It seems like WCT was using extremely unprofessional (probably the cheapest) factories, and even after they went out of business and transferred stuff to Jazwares, those unprofessional factories have still continued to produce figures using those older WCT molds, to this day. The bootlegs are all over AliExpress.

Yeah lots of different companies do chase cars that are rarer to find; Hot Wheels did it for a while with Mystery Cars where the bubble was solid black and you couldn't see it but a lot of the boomer collectors hated it so i think they made it more "kid friendly" and put them into little baggies like how Lego does the minifigs.

Honestly, that would be PERFECT for Pokemon; have a Pokeball with a random smaller 3" or 3.5" figure in there and a chance for a chase (aka a Shiny) for one or all of the Pokemon.

Little follow-up, my wave 1 Charizard has S5, while Electabuzz and Magmar have S6. 3-pack Absol S5, 2-pack Larvitar S3, recent reissue Sharpedo has S2 and the 2018 and WCT mold printing, original Aerodactyl as S4, original Metang as S1. And that's all that's sitting near me (opened, anyways).

Seems more like a development/production time thing, given Sharpedo's old designation on a recent release.

Sharpedo first came out in like 2019 which is why it has "S2". Whenever they re-release a figure (which is all the damn time), they give it the "S#" mark of whenever it first came out. They have a confusing way of counting each "series". So Series 1 marked "S1" included the first couple battle figure waves, the first couple clip and go waves, the first two or three 4.5" waves, Solgaleo and Lunala Epics, etc. These all correspond to what the have on the paper checklists that are included with figures.

Seems doubtful. The entire 6" Select line and the 3 upcoming ones have been legendaries, starters, and pseudo legendaries thus far so I doubt Tyrantrum has a chance unless we see them branch out from those mons more.

Others could probably include Deoxys (though I think it's a legendary, it and mythical always confuse me for the non small Pokemon), Darkrai (same as above), Genesect, Volcanion, Zarude. I could have sworn Zeraora was featured in a movie as well but I guess not, but I'd think it'd be a candidate as well.

At one point mythicals were pretty easy to remember as things you couldn't catch in a game by normal gameplay but its gotten murky over the years. There's some like Deoxys and Keldeo that you can also just catch in games now.

I did a quick scan with the ones who've started putting Valentines day stuff out but i couldn't tell if there was any Pokemon stuff going up. I would assume there should be some sort of plush and maybe figures? They *should* re-release the Valentine ones from last year

Who knows if we are getting new Valentines packs this year. These hoilday themed packs seem very prone to showing up after the holidays, or not at all. Still no sign of the Cubchoo holiday pack.

I'd rather they do an Easter themed wave rather than Valentines's repacks. They could throw some rabbit and egg themed mons in there. Scorbunny, Bunelby, Happiny, Buneary, Togepi etc.

I feel like each of them has a decent shot at being a 3" figure some time. Especially since they just Made a 2" Marill and Wigglytuff being a chosen character in the Unite roster. Plus they could do more baby mons too to go along with Riolu/Pichu and complete the evo lines like they love to do.

TTomy has moncolles of Nidorans, Buneary, Lopunny and Bunnelby, so it'd be easier for them to make a set or we'll likely get fun/office goods or gacha. It would surprise me if they didn't since they have more rabbits than they do pigs and tigers. Jazwares is very unlikely, otherwise

Those new Jakks WoN figures are about 5" tall, super articulated, and are reportedly $10.3X at Walmart. We need to stick it to Jazwares for selling absolute dog shit in those 4.5" Pokemon feature figs in comparison. There is absolutely no excuse. You can absolutely make a figure with an action feature and still give it some kind of useful articulation and quality construction. There is no way you can look at a figure like Ludicolo or Gengar that costs $12 and put it next to one of these $10 Jakks 5" figs and saw Jazwares is not absolutely raping us with these prices and the absolute lack of value/quality.

The problem here is regardless of how little effort Jazwares'll put into the Pokemon stuff, it'll sell. Adult collectors could get fed up with their output and stop buying, but their primary market, actual children, don't really care if their Pokemons don't have much articulation or good paint details. They'll keep buying regardless and Jazwares'll continue to put in as little effort as they can to maximize profits. And considering the amount of different Pokemon they make, they probably use that as an excuse to not have to make new molds with new articulation for each 'mon. Which is also stupid when you look at the Fornite stuff they put out.

I've come to really hope they lose the license to another company, as unlikely as it is to happen since they have someone from TPCi on their board or whatever, but one can hope.

I dream of what the current Hasbro could do with the Pokemon license. They do scale so much better, understanding that their lines can appeal to collectors at the same time as kids, their engineering and articulation is SO MUCH better than Jazwares, especially with oddly shaped and unique proportioned figures (look at all that 6" Fortnite stuff), they do pinless joints on figures now, their distribution is fantastic with like 95% of their product readily available on Amazon and all the main toy stores. I just don't see any way in which Jazwares is doing anything better than what Hasbro could do. They are also chasing a license that will sell incredibly well for them and I bet Pokemon could be that. They jumped into the Overwatch craze too late, ditto with the Fortnite 6" line after Jazwares already made dozens of good figures, and their Star Wars lines are selling poorly now. Pokemon with well designed figures and great distribution would be game changing for them. Gotta go pray Hasbro blows the socks off TPCi with a presentation and offer and Jazwares loses the Pokemon license now!

I belive the bigger problem lies with the pokemon company itself, I saw many people from jazwares saying that the pokemon company give them these scales, and they are the reason why the toys take so long to come out, TPCI is just horrible at everything, they don't know how to handle the franchise, they decided to go with wct which was a random small toy company, no matter which company takes the license, the pokemon company international will make sure to fuck the toy line with their stupid decisions

That doesn't force Jazwares do design horrible figures though. Even within the size constraints of the 4" line, they can still engineer the damn things better and could have easily added more articulation to them if they wanted to. Jazwares makes a lot of other boneheaded design decisions as well, which is not the fault of TPCi

I assume those are from the late 90s or so? Definitely before 3D modeling was used. Many domestic companies sculpted larger usually double the size (called a 2-Up), and then they were pantographed down to the proper size during the tooling stage. I think some Japanese figures were actually sculpted at scale though. Figures that are super small and have simple details or exaggerated proportions may have been sculpted at scale.

Ex. MIMP pictured is the 2up version and the 1.5" or so final figure size.

Hell no. Bricks are completely different than figures with articulation. They don't have a single articulated figure line that has both good sculpting and good engineering. Masterverse is the closest thing they have and they are all pretty amateur looking.

That is not how licensing works. Jazwares pays for production and everything related to the toys so they fully have the ability to add articulation or design the toys however they want as long as TPCi approves. TPCi gets royalties based on the sales of the toys. The goal is to design the best product while still fitting into the profit margins Jazwares desires, and sell the most. More sales = more profits for Jazwares and more royalties for TPCi.
