there's fun ways to be dorky and weird, and other ways that come off more like someone made an error in the design process, or someone's budget was cut. I would love a return to some of the very weird beast wars type offkilter designs, but at the same time, I actually feel like the japan-original ones were often really dumblooking, especially the giraffe and horse. and those dinosaurs with the flower mode.

Well those are still trying to be cool super robots even if they have ridiculous things to them like "dead mode", "horse corpse kibble explosion" or "is a penguin". The real downsize of the lot is Victory Leo. Because the duo were close in size back in the original toys (and show) but the new version priortizes a combined mode being more proportional so Power Up Lion is smaller.

Beast Wars Neo is a trip of a line. The good guys were animals, but not the "cool" ones, and the bad guys were all dinosaurs. So since Evolution wave 1 is shipping/showing at stores around the world, Skyquake in US port. More elaks are on the way so soon we might get some reveal. Shame WFC bots are pushed for wave 2 and Armada Megatron for wave 3 but still I't rather neat to see all those leaks we got in recent time.

Cleaning out my drawer today.
For some reason the figure's coat of metallic paint got melted in some parts and revel the pure black plastic underneath
I am little surprised because I thought it's all plastic color.

I am slightly pissed considered it is a japanese exclusive and I don't think I can replace it. Guess I have to live with it. toys do have a shelve life too. Battle damages version anyone?

I have also found out siege astrotrain does yellow too.

I don't know.
Having a parent die last year and has to go through her stuff (it wasn't a lot, but plenty of old dinner wares and small clay animals figures) kinda made me more aware the transitory nature of things even more so

Though, the good news is that I did find some sellers online but the price tags are all $100+.
My megatron is still good, while the paint is damaged on Prime, the mold is still fine. The paint issue only shown in the back of the bot mode/the front cab. So I doubt I will get a new one. At least I am not one of those who broken the wheel panel hinges of the back with this mold.

Hell, the only reason I got the pack is to get the mold- which I did again with the Orion Pax/Prime 2-pack later. Hasbro even fixed the hinge problem of the original.

i have no idea how 90 degree hinge joint even pass the CAD stage in the first place.

To be fair as good as the figure were, it has a lot of short comings because its art design. 3D model can cheat, but plastic can't. I wonder if the news of new WFC figure will be a improvement.

Does anybody know a good way to remove pins from Transformers? I'm trying to do a custom of Inferno (firetruck) but he's held together with pins and it's a pain in the ass. Would I be better off drilling out the pegs and replacing them with screws and thick wire later, or should I try to preserve the original pins?

I've tried using a metal pin and banging at the small end of the pins with a hammer but they aren't budging at all.

i absolutely do count ginrai and godbomber, those were the first non-beast-wars transformers I learned about when I first got the internet. good ol Prime Saber's transformers page. Didn't know that was the first combiner, but that's cool.. and yeah it took them a while to really get into the swing, didn't it.
I tell you what, saban picked the right time to adapt super sentai because zyuranger was the first one with really properly cool mecha formed from animals.. combining vehicle mecha are neat and all, but it means the units on their own are really not gonna articulate or look very cool..

That's just Bandai in a nutshell back then and even somewhat today, their philosophy with DX toys is to prioritize the gimmicks that matches what was done in the TV show above all else and the gimmick is usually combining. They're also not that great at transforming in general, the Gundams have pretty cool vehicle modes but the transformation is simplistic in comparison (granted that's because it's real robot and you got to account for shit like placement of parts that don't intefere) so it's usually Robot only for them.

RED isn't dead. The G1 stuff sells very well. It's the stupid fucking Prime and Beast Wars figures that shelf-warm.

That said, the biggest fucking sin of RED is that we have only two G1 proper Autobots (Optimus and Bumblebee) and one White Optimus/Ultra Magnus lazy repaint. They couldn't even give us Ratchet/Ironhide (easy to make) or even Cliffjumper or even Sideswipe or Kup and Blurr.

At least the main 84 Decepticons are nearly complete. Outside the cassettes, we are only missing Skywarp.

Transdormer PowerCore Combiners Bombshock w/ Combaticons

The winner of the first wave of PCC

Bombshock is some manner of anti-aircraft vehicle, fitting as his counter part in the wave were the Aerialbots.
The big turret on his back can freely rotate and aim upwards to near 90 degrees.

Packaged with him are; a tank with two guns on top of a swiveling turret, an armored truck with some missiles, a half-track with a single rotating gun and crazy far forward smokestacks, and a tank like you might see shooting at Godzilla.

Overall I'd say they're better than the Aerialbots. A more sold group with more visual punch.

Bombshock stands up into this stumpy little robot.
He has the look of having an overfull backpack and too many pouches on his pants.

The ratio of colours stays the same. Grey torso taking the visual place of the grey cannon section. He does gain a brown hexagon on his tummy and two red sunken eyes on his tiny head.

Articulation is mostly ball joints. At the Shoulders, elbows, and hips.
With swivels at the thighs, neck and waist.

Bombshock putting in his entry for the Bruticus cosplay contest.
I don't think any of the other PCCs aped their namesake's look as hard as this.
One thing I will always give PCC credit for is the Big Mode head sculpts.
A riveted iron mask and a bright red visor is always going to make cool robot.

Articulation isn't quite what it was. He's lost his elbows entirely and everything else has gotten just a bit more complicated. The ball joints in the shoulder and hips are gone, replaced by a tandem operation of swivels and hinges.

Depends, but qc issues can range from parts not bring molded properly, design flaws, missing parts and misassembly. The most common problems are the chrome chest arriving with scuffs and Saber' nose cone square holes being fillef in on one side, so you cant attach the nosecone/shield in vehicle mode without cutting chunks out.

Meanwhile, mine is just striaght up lost so I couldn't be more pissed off. Fedex sucks so much.

Hasbro had their tame RPG devs (No, not those ones.) publish a Transformers RPG last year. There's probably a PDF out there that's easy enough to find.
They also did Power Rangers and GI Joe RPG's before that. They all use basically the same d20+Another dice system that's just different from D&D for WotC to not get huffy with them (although WHY Hasbro felt the need to form Renegade Games when they already own WotC and poached 90% of the staff from that company anyway is a bit of a mystery.)

I'm surprised people are still brave enough to buy then. Titans for the past few years have been loaded with problems that only get worse if you don't fix them, and some are unfixable:

Ome has several sections that feel too fragile to move, like the claws, clear chest and thight swivel.
-Scorponok has one loose pin on the dame ankle for all copies and my friends BZ also has that issue. Also, scorponok's entire thigh swivel is a mess since they used poor assembly for the gear AND its soft plastic. Nothing can be done to fix this.
-Ark is stiff as hell. All the ratchets are too strong, and require to wear them down or they'll destroy the gears. Don't shave them down, just take a tool and gently pit some pressure ok both sides the of the tooth until it can bend easier.
-Metroplex has several areas that needed ratchets, but lacks them. Meanwhile, lack of testing by the designers and factory gane us a huge defect on the shoulders (the Grey plastic extended too far, reaching the gear, so turning the shoulder will destroy the gear after a few rotations) that needs to be fixed immediately.

The nemesis might fucking explode at this rate.

Neither is the mainline Airrazor. In fact just based on those 2 the rest of the mainline toys are as far removed from the Kingdom toys as possible with Studio Series copying the Kingdom CAD files (only confirmed for Airrazor though).

Don't know about Mainline Airazor. I mean they all got to look like the character herself so there's similarities. But Mainline Airazor is different from Kingdom, her legs becomes the wings whereas Kingdom has the wings as the wings.

Yes you are right, that's exactly what happened. The idea is the mainline toys are released alongside the films with the toys themselves having a passing resemblance to the characters in the film but are more accurate to the concept arts rather than the final rendition. Then Studio Series would come out a year or so later having more time to base the toys on the final rendition and thus be more accurate to the film character designs. Unfortunately the film's delay has put those plans into a mess and now the mainline toys have some degree of accuracy over the Studio Series toys as seen in pic-related.

Mainline looks more feminine. You can still see the Airazor with the SS toy with the bird helmet but other than that it looks like a male rather than a female. Concept arts are sometimes great, there will always be reasons for the final product being what it is but most of the ideas thrown out in the concept phase usually has a lot of interest. I still remember the concept art for how Mechtech weapons was going to pan out. Funnily enough pic related made it into the DOTM game and it was pretty cool there though sadly it was a boss fight with Optimus as the boss himself.

Not sure I care much for the Studio Series this time around. Even though it isn't the 'traditional' transformation for her, I think the mainline's 'legs to wings' thing makes for a much nicer bird mode, while the SS is just Kingdom 2.0 and looks like she's taking a squat. Also, while the SS's head sculpt may be closer to her look in the movie, the mainline's head looks more like the original Airaizor. On the topic of heads, the SS's bird head is totally wrong for a Peregrine falcon, while the mainline's beast head actually looks like the animal it's supposed to be depicting. Lastly, the colors are just a whole lot better on the mainline this time around, and actually looks closer to the colors on her movie model in >>10213169 than the washed-out looking beige and metallic green wingtips on the SS. All in all, I can't think of any reason why someone would really want the Studio Series version, especially if they already own her Kingdom toy that uses the same (crappy) transformation.

The high cranium, longer, forward angled beak, and small eyes make her Studio Series incarnation look like a vulture with an unusually short neck. It's totally wrong and very noticeable for anyone familiar with birds in general. The mainline one is most definitely closer to a falcon - even more than her Kingdom version's head.

Man as much as I like some of the "toon accurate" molds of Kingdom and Legacy, I really wish this is what they did for a rebirth line. I know this is the movie and all so it's basically the same shit, but I wanted to see something non-90s-cgi. It's also even funnier seeing as how this is likely not even close to how he looks in the movie since they went thru and redid some of the design work. You can even see in the trailer he looks more like Beast Machines Cheetor.

I’m particularly fascinated by this guy’s depiction of the Fossilizers combining by way of violently tearing each other to pieces which at the same time reattach and rearrange themselves into the new combined form.
Which is then taken a step further with the combiners forcibly harvesting and assimilating additional individuals into their mass to further increase their size and strength. Or as in pic related, having opposing individuals subdue and then presumably subvert the gestalt by adding themselves into it.
It’s an interesting concept of a multi-faceted, fluctuating, dominance and subjugation based dynamic of combination, in contrast with the more typical cooperation based combination, that we usually see.

it literally does mean that. hips and shoulders contribute the most to size.
Not only does it clearly use way less plastic, and have a smaler silhouette, it has smaller shoulder flaps, shorter arms, smaller feet, and a smaller head, plus it's shorter overall. the rest of the pieces are all the same size, except the lower torso which is a bit thicker, you've got that.

the only thing the old one has is his shoulder joints stick out a little more and his biceps and hips are a bit longer.
But his thighs are longer, his shins are longer, his torso is much wider and bulkier, and his forarms are bulkier and longer
The head isn't even that different in face size, just the ear height.

Finally got my Christmas stuff. A bit annoyed with Sweep since I had to do the inner hip fix to prevent b future breakage and give it functional hip swivels, but everything else seemed fine.

Now that you bring it up, I'm surprised Sweep has more paint than Scourge. They painted the back of the wings so they'd blend better in vehicle mode and they added some more paint on his chesr since the original didn't reach his neck. Not sure why they did that.

Sort of related, I guess they heard the complaints on Scourge's hands breaking due to paint because Sweep had the inner hand paint scrapped off.

i was about to say it's so dumb that the plastic is so weak that a layer of paint can make it crack, then i realized.. that's probably just really strong paint. sure it would be better if the paint was what broke in that situation, but in general we do want more durable paint that can withstand parts scraping parts, so I guess that's the price we pay. just.. don't paint inner hands, I thought everyone knew that already. I can think of several transformers whose inner hands are conspicuously but necessarily unpainted

We have to blame this mostly on designers using the hard, blue plastic for the hips and hands the painted hips also suffer from cracking, which will get worse if you force the swivel before fixing the hip and scrapping off the paint inside.

To clarify you can see the groove where the ratchet goes and 3 bits. Right down the middle one you can see a grey beam that's slightly bent in that picture, either cut or shave it. Gently test the ratchet on the shoulder without the teeth.
, if it moves freely, then its fixed. Do not move the shoulder until the fix is done

It's darkly funny that Red Alert was so hard to find at release but is now flooding stores for some reason. I imagine it's because Walgreens just never released their stock.

Fucking hell I also have this problem. It's because the panel needs to overlap the silver knee and purple piece under it. But for some reason I'm off by a millimetre despite the tabs in place. Don't try to force it because it will chip the silver paint. And I heard it causes stress marks or something.
