I think either forced by the overlords or to generate controversy in the hopes of selling more tickets, and it failed spectacularly.

The scene is literally three seconds long and completely irrelevant in an otherwise nice movie, so they fucked up big time.

I doubt there will be more waves after this recent one, they wont make all 15 prototypes and the final scene shuttle is a bigger ship, it was probably planned as a bigger more expensive set like Zurg's ship or that other brown one.

Love these lightyear ships
Havent seen the movie and dont plan on it so Ill make up my own stories. I got one of those Star wars ships scaled about the same and I couldnt believe how shitty and delicate it was compared to Lightyear ships. And to think the Star Wars ships were like 50 percent more expensive.

Actually impressive how they made Buzz a total retard and completely undermined the audience they were pandering to in one stroke. Like I genuinely believe that "Buzz is ok with resetting because he believes in true love" was apart of the story at one point and someone sabotaged the script at the last moment.

The whole concept of the movie was the problem, what they made had nothing to do with what a Buzz Lightyear movie should be based on how it is treated in the Toy Story films. Maybe if the sequel to this movie was what became a hit to the kids but the opening texts destroyed that possibility lol. Basically they had an idea for a Sci-Fi film but had no confidence with an original IP so they slapped the Buzz name on it. I hate it when they do that. We got decent toys out of it (action figures are pretty good too) so there's that at least.

The whole reason I like the Lightyear designs is because they look like Star Fox and F-Zero, I saw the XL-15 and my first thought was "it's a cross between the X-Wing and the Arwing."

Why is it a rip off instead of a homage? Clearly the janitor in charge of the ship designs was a man of culture and wanted to leave a mark, which in turn gave us these great toys. Would you rather they would have been uninspired bland cardboard boxes with cannons like the shit from nu-Star Wars?

I love that the ship designer is a massive Lego fan and built most of the ships in Lego as a rough sketch and then the CGI artists went from there.
He also made it have a yellow canopy so Lego would be forced to make a new mould if and when it got lego sets! It ended up one of the best Lego sets of the year!

I really want to build the Viper or see all 15 in a line.
