It was certainly a golden age. Bringing back pirates, Pharaoh's quest, Indiana Jones, fantasy era/kingdoms, some kino city stuff. I wouldn't for sure say it was the single best era though.

The most iconic themes to me are things like Adventurers, Rock Raiders, Alpha Team. The ~2010 copies of Pharaoh's Quest, Power Miners and Agents are just sterile imitations

I love power miners for being a Rock Raiders theme but nostalgia will always blind me into saying RR was better. Aesthetically for sure it was, but I'll admit the builds are lacking and too simple in some cases. I also was on hiatus during the PM years so I missed out on the sets, so that for sure clouds my judgement. I would love to see a PM sequel that incorporated modern build techniques with RR aesthetics.

I believe I read somewhere that good guys tend to sell better than bad guys, so it's probably Lego attempting to maximize profit. Hasbro does the same thing with Transformers; in the kids' lines it's not uncommon for Autobots to outnumber Decepticons 2 to 1.

But as someone who recently got into Ninjago I agree it's annoying how there are no good villain sets, especially in the EVO series. It'd be cool to see some battle packs like what we get in Star Wars, that way you can at least build an army of little guys

Actually, funnily enough one of the orcs were actually too friendly with the Ninja. Some Orc queen got a crush on Jay and she ended up fighting Nya over Jay
But yeah, basically the black ninja got captured and then he rescued the orcs and goblins who were being enslaved to mine stuff.

There is an extremely small exception for BAM pieces but it's only tiny things to get turbo-tards to visit the store. I remember some fren bought some lego and it has some tiny friends vinyl set in it that was like 50 pieces. We built it and then raced to build it as fast as we could. Think i ended up having like a 30 second time lol.

Went to a Lego store yesterday to finally pick up the space explorer. Haven't purchased Lego sets at a store since I was 14, but was really feeling like getting one for a while now so I saved up to get either the space explorer or the sw inquisitor ship, both good looking in different ways.

Arrived 30 mins before closing time and the store was pretty much empty, at the register I noticed they had one (1) blacktron cruiser in the counter behind the cash register counter, I asked the cashier if I could purchase it and he said that unfortunately no, had to spend 190€ to get it.

I was also getting a minifigure blind bag for my gf, he joke about me buying 90€ worth of that and I laughed and thought that was it, to my surprise after I finished paying (in cash, had counted it beforehand) he just smiled at me and threw in the blacktron for free! I gave him a handshake and thanked him (almost tearing up) and then left.

I sat outside for a minute to let it sink in, it was a truly beautiful gesture that'll I'll always treasure, for the past 24 hours all I have been able to think about is builiding a whole lego space collection as well as futuristic sci-fi human space city with aliens and such.

Thank you Mr.Wolfgang!

he has one of the largest lego collections in the world. at this point you could argue it's almost a preservation effort because selling it would be such a monumental task; it'd be incredibly difficult to sell the entire lot to a single buyer so you'd have to break it up which would be rather time consuming. you almost have to wonder what the end goal is? is it just to amass as much lego as he can, or something else?

A fair amount was reworked. Anons suggested that I do a mirror build when I got my second lantern set, however I did my own lay out, which took more time than I would like to admit. I recently got the tree house, and that required ripping up the lantern set in order to anchor the tree house to base plate. I rebuilt one of the pagodas and reduced the diameter of the surrounding rocky outcroppings. Other than that I did minor reshaping of the bamboo, tree limbs, and rocks so that I could incorporate the dancing tiger.

I am going to order a lot more pieces in order to make the rooms in the tree match the overall atmosphere.

They literally appear in one issue of the Lego City magazine and never appear again, and I see that as an enjoyed of Lego magazines. All Larry Jones is, is a bored designer making a yellow skinned Indiana Jones made from common parts, then the writer from the comic wrote him as a bootleg Indiana Jones. It's a neat novelty, but in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter.

Funny thing is the main protagonists throw him off a clip, on extremely combustible balloons and they laugh at him as he struggles to fly and falls down from a extremely high height. Of course since this his lego he can't die from fall damage
He never gets airtime after that episode and never gets a redemption arc even though the main villians of season 1 basically already became heroes.

The neighbor kid had it. He got all the sets basically. To date it's one of my favorite themes and all we got was the car. Was a broke-ass student back then and by the time I had the cash, it was phased out.

Just a year your senior. My grandparents and other family members were loaded thanks to oil money and made sure I got most of the Wild West (mainly the American Indian sets which were big back then) and Johnny Thunder sets. This meant having a childhood room filled with tepees and Egyptian ruins. Plus the magazines were very affordable so kids could buy them, meaning I had most issues of the comics and catalogs.
