Welcome to the Doll General!

A thread for discussion of fashion dolls including Barbie, Disney, LOL OMG, Rainbow High, Monster High, Licca-chan etc but not BJD.

Other toys considered dolls as well as girl collectable toys that are related to dolls or can be used as accessories to dolls are also welcome such as LOL, Shopkins, Polly Pocket and the like.

I went around to various Targets today to check out the deep-clearances happening and there's quite a few "girl toys" at 70% off, including all the Barbie Extras if anyone's interested. Some non-doll "girl toys" that were also at 70% were MLP and the pink Transformers.

Mine. Once a Drac fangirl, always a Drac fangirl I guess. I do miss the more lolita-inspired outfits and hope they make a come back.

And I actually like Clawdeen's new face style a lot but I hate all her outfits so far, so haven't wanted any. I hope she gets an outfit with more effort eventually.

I still stand by what i said in the other thread, they have too many recurring dolls, Draculaura and Frankie are already in wave one and two plus in other line, why not Abbey and Skelita or a new one.

Like i said once Monster high will settle, everyone will be sick of the main ghouls.
Plus why do they want to push this gimmick line so much it's like they don't have faith in regular and deluxe line selling well.
These dolls are $30 if they would invest the budget of the gimmick in the dolls i'm sure they could give us MGA like quality clothes

I'm sure that the gimmick is actually due to MGA, the LOLs also have this "unboxing and building the outfit yourself" gimmick but with those paper bags

The things is MGA started moving away from this for they regular OMG and tween lines and Rainbow high is the prime exemple they don't need a gimmick line to survive.

The fact they planned three skultimate secrets waves just show they weren't confidant in them and Mattel just made it safe by capitalizing on barbie color/cutie reveal

There was that dress variant that Heather had (the one on the right has more detailing). That's the only major variant I know of though aside from slight paint variations that are probably just factory errors.

I agree with that part. But other anon wanting Lala instead makes no sense since all her dolls have the same faceups too. I'm disappointed there hasn't been some black-lipped Lalas yet, or maybe red or purple. Just anything besides pink.

I don't think g3 are boring they're just too many, they mostly have different make up and rooting patterns between each releases, but the things is, the releases are just to quick and feel not special or groundbreaking anymore.

Plus the only thing they have that other curent dolls don't is pretty base dolls and if you want great fashion pieces or accessories you have to buy elsewhere

I definitely am. I leave anything boxed for collectors though, since I bought a single version, a two pack, and the glam luxe version when they came out way back when.

I prefer the two pack version, which is normally cheaper, and I know this is very fucking weird. It was the first doll I ever bought, my mom was a collector, and I didn't realize back in the day that Midge would become so rare.

I totally get it. I really miss the LITH designs, esp Midge and Raquelle, and they neverrrr came back. Ugh. Mattel could've brought back the line, raised the price a little, and made a fuckton of money. But they completely refuse for some reason.

Yeah, I bought a Raquelle later on too, because her face was so unique. When the line first came out, I bought a Summer too, because she had an interesting outfit.

The quality of clothing declined so much, so I ended up just hopping on etsy for most of everything in the future. You can't even buy an outfit for a Disney princess without getting bombarded with glitter, lol.

China made MH dolls should indeed be free of the feared glue, so it should be just styling product. Washing (possibly a few times) should fix the issue.

At least they had the decency to make the Snow White doll the darkest skinned one because at least it doesn't make her just like the rest like most dolls would.

You're right. They're just random AA dolls wearing the almost exact same outfits as the Disney princesses they're "inspired" by. They're Disney bounding. Totally different. Yup. No mistaking them.

i feel like they switched her personality with clawdeen, which is rather fitting since clawdeen name was originally howleen. Honestly SH sold fine in my area, and my Walmart is extremely stubborn about marking anything down or putting anything on clearance, like there are still Sleepover dolls on the shelves and they just now decided to put them on Clearance. Technically, in the past, when Mattel did fan vote dolls they were for preorder, though you had to have a membership to buy, like the Ken merman doll. So there is a slim chance she could be preorder. Though its always good to hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

This is her first G3 doll that appeals to me, though to be fair I was never the biggest Draculaura fan due to a low personal tolerance for hot pink. I've mostly seen negative reactions to this set online but of everything leaked so far, this is the only must have for me. She'd look really cute restyled and I want the bench for some of my other vampire dolls to sit on.

Y'all thing are moving in the OMG lawsuit, there was a mistrial because T.I and Omg girlz wanted to use cultural appropriation as a testimony while the judge had forbid them to do so.
This whole thing was a mess and MGA almost lost because their whole defense was them "not wanting to copy omg girlz and t.i. because they are inappropriate" like where are the protoypes, moodboards and concept art plus the designers testimonies i'm baffled they were not there.
Anyways i don't know if they can appeal but lol omg are safe for now but this trial will make them lose a lot of popularity and sales maybe it's a good thing lol tween are taking over the big fall line for 2023.

I adore these and have a few dozen. I got them at Tuesday Morning for $20 when those weird mass Pullip clearances were happening back in the day, and those were an amazing price to get them for. If you're going to make different body types, then figure out how to make fitting clothes for them! That looks so awful.

Also, the whole package just has G2 vibes. I know they are trying for Sweet 1600, but the end result is closer to Welcome to Monster High, and even falls short of that. At least that doll had clothes that fit.

at least clawdeen seems ok and true to her description. I feel like they didn't know if they wanted to be like down of the dance or sweet 1600 so they mashed the two, not original or fresh at all

g3 shoe game is the weakest they're so bulky and even basic brand rainbow high shoes are better, changing the foot was a big mistake since they could have reused the older gen ones

g3 were doing great with the core dolls, creepover and playsets but they released them too quick and some of the other stuff like the skulltimate and second budget dolls are so messy. I'm sure by the end of the year if they continue in this direction they will hit brand fatigue

So odd, I think they were trying to go for a Babydoll styled look? But the layers on the skirt just look awkward and stiff, and the black straps are so ugly they should have either gone with poofy sleeves or strapless, and that giant bow, it feels like they're trying to do too much at once.
