I had a hard time shooting him. Everything casts a shadow. I put him on my kitchen chandelier. He has 4 guns. They didn’t do round pegs on two of them so you have to pull back his leg hair and put them in hexagonal slots. The instructions encourage you to use the legs as little dew claw swords. Half his chest opens up and exposes a tiny matrix.

The trick is to get light into the areas the shadows are.
setting up little things that reflect light should work. Mirror, shiny metal, etc just outside of the frame of the shot can be used to redirect light into some of the areas with harsh shadows.

Also if it's shadows HE casts onto the other objects, the trick is to move the light source further away. The further way, the bigger and fuzzier the shadow gets, meaning at some point it's taking up the entire shot so it's like it's not there at all

Can't I like both? I still want to nab Velocitron Nemesis. Legacy Menasor's core robot/cab looks like a fun toy even if the trailer and its associated combined mode are dreadful. Technically I've already sorted myself for a Menasor with the CW G2 set and the upgrade kit (still less partsforming than the Legacy version, actually works like a combiner, is perfectly adequate in combined mode and the individuals are simple fun toys), I just think that as a standalone toy Legacy Motormaster himself looks fun.
In any case an all-in-one accurate MM is impossible. It'll either be HUGE in robot mode or pathetically undersized in vehicle mode.

because voyagers now cost 34 a piece, so they'd be about 70 bucks normally, and then you're trying to buy toys from literally 2 years ago.
A 50%-65% markup isn't that bad.
You MIGHT be able to get them down under 100 if you're fine with used and waiting for a good ebay auction

i always head canon'd that Galvatron and Megatron were way stronger in alt mode, they just couldnt move on their own.
It was like a method to focus their firepower.
Like the transformers equivalent of a giant mecha whipping out an oversized railgun and having to put down anchors just to fire it.

I found these weirdos at Ross today. Sideswipe is my third version of this mold but I'm a fan of it so it doesn't really bother me. The knees on my copy are a bit loose but not enough to make posing any difficult.

Maximal Skywarp on the other hand I'm really in love with, even if truthfully I'm not that big of a Beast Wars fan. I do have the original Kingdom Airazor somewhere around here as well but Bald Eagle Man just has so much more character to him.

Ultra Pretenders are difficult to do since their gimmick is a vehicle shell unless you want to just make that their normal vehicle mode. Carnivac I have no idea why he hasn't happened though. Seems like an easy recolor from BW Wolfang, Cybertron Snarl or Titans Return Wolfwire.

Hasbro clearly didn't give a fuck either with the giant cavity, head staring though the cockpit and untransformed arms fully hanging off the jet. Bot mode is fantastic yeah but when one mode might as well not exist, a transformer can only be considered so good.
And I'm sorry you didn't get the Menasor you wanted but the one we did get turned out good and Motormaster is the best part of it. Combiner Wars seems more to you taste, so go enjoy that one buddy.

Honestly, pretenders are a great concept, they just didn't go all the way.
the toys should have shells with high posability, with the backs open for the robot to slide into like star saber or powermaster prime.

as for a modernisation of the concept, a biomechanical hybrid monster, legacy's core figgers are really very good. skullgrin not so much and fingers crossed for bludgeon but honestly i might just stick to the cores

I still hate the massive empty shell of a cockpit. Love the Robot mode though. Genuinely one of the best in years. I mean, Spider-Clone saga was a fucking debacle from beginning to end. One of the writers in Marvel at the time wrote a massive 30+ part behind the scenes thing and put it out online about what was going on in the writers and editors room at the time.
It sounds similar though to when Annihilation basically brought Cosmic Marvel back, because it ran at the same time as Civil War, which was excruciating character assassination and garbage by comparison.

Nah, I'd say it's a lateral move at best:
The original has far better details (especially the vastly less horrifying lion face) and fun gimmicks, but the robot proportions are jank and the lion is deformed as fuck.
The new one has a retarded-looking lion face and the mane 'gimmick' wasn't even worth including, but the transformation is cool and both the lion and robot proportions are vastly superior.
