Also strongarm will get its own unique figure. Shes more popular than G1, that was a failure for everything except year 1. Look at any discussion about the movie and they discuss how badly it failed. RID by comparison completed its run, and only got canceled because they wanted a bumblebee show to fit in with movie.

If the movie never came out RID would still be running today.

Also armada saved transformers and gave the greenlight for the movies. Not beast whores or g1

No kid gave a shit about the RID15 show or the toys cause most kids had their faces glued to a smart phone, which is why Hasbro tried to shill that code gimmick for the toy line. When that didn’t work they had to go to the resort ripping off Bakugan, Power Rangers, and whatever other weeb shit that was popular with the kids at the time.

Meanwhile Vintage G1 and Beast Wars stuff are still being sold for insane after-market prices along side the current reissues and generations updates, yet every mainline toy post-RID15 is either peg warming at a discount store in the south or at the bottom of the ocean.

I managed to snag Inferno, and I gotta say I like him a lot. Robot mode is a treat (articulated jaw is awesome) and the ant mode is really cool. Myself I would have made the back legs form from the robot legs, so there'd be less kibble overall and the ant abdomen could store the gun and/or form the propeller-thruster somewhat more convincingly, but then again you'd have four good-looking ant legs and two errant obviously robotic legs at the back. Either way, I dig him.

It's because the nosecone folds entirely into the torso it works out well, and his wings are on the arms not back like most.
It also means they're not going IDW route, thank goodness.
But, the MOST curious thing to me is...

I'm guessing on purpose
I see no signs of cyclonus' butterfly chest flaps.
I think they reengineered the torso because his wings would be going the wrong direction if he transformed like cyclonus did, and the "underside" would be facing up.
My bet is that his grey and blue back piece flips down, letting his arms go with them, and his forarms are actually forward instead of backwards like in cyclonus

current theory is it's actually a holiday prime repaint or retool, and the small photo the leaker saw just looked like motormaster at first, like holiday prime did before we got a good resolution image.

The man reason for the rumor is him being in the wreckers comic, which debuted Minerva, Road Rocket, Override and Knockout before their official announcements. And while it wasn't in his new form, we DID get skyquake there too.
The Thunderclash in that one seemed mostly inspired by the original toy, but with wide, trapezoidal shoulder armor, a protruding, beveled chest, a much cleaner alt mode paint job, missing front of cab hanging off his shoulders, he's missing one set of wheels (his hips) and he has very differently shaped forarms.
Also, strangely enough, his wheels are on his RED legs in robot mode, but his BLUE truck backend in alt mode.

AND he has a FAKE roof for his chest. His real roof is on his back.

That sure sounds like they had a glimpse at a new toy to copy from.

Ya know I knew that comic had a few toys revealed in it, but I didn't realize it was that many. I was wondering why IDW put out a Wreckers comic with zero Wreckers in it, and it sounds like it may have been a Hasbro directive. That still leaves it odd that none of these characters have been released as Wreckers. Maybe the whole thing went over like a lead balloon to more people than just me?

Anyway, I don't get that leg/tire bit you reference. Though the roof seems to be really strong evidence. But god damn I'm tired of faked out altmode bits. I feel like we've been getting a lot of that recently.

The original toy had 2 wheels on each of his red lower legs, and 1 on each side at his hip (still on the red legs)

when you transform him, the original toy had a red truckbed/trailer hitch with those 6 wheels on them.

In the comic, that truckbed/trailerhitch portion is blue, and there is indeed 6 wheels like you'd expect.

So in other words, the comics thunderclash just makes 2 wheels disappear AND changes the colors of his legs

jtprime17 (the source for 95% of our leaked info) has ALSO hinted that there's an additional leader class optimus figure he can't talk about yet in addition to a leader class optimus he doesn't know anything about.

We know animated and WFC are getting voyagers too.

There's not too many options for leader class optimus that are NOT repacks and if he can't talk about one it's almost certainly not just a repaint so it's probably either a g1ified bayformer optimus, g1ified TFPrime optimus, or a retool of holiday prime into hero prime.
pretty unlikely to be a RID01 prime because someone created a fake leak and put that in and he flat out said it was fake.
Maybe energon optimus to complete the trio, or in an absolutely WILD twist, Holiday Prime retooled as action master prime.

Or, it might just straight up be machine wars optimus which will later get repainted as thunderclash.

Not to the public, but JTPrime17 has mentioned several times that his source shows him low quality, early production images. Sometimes they're just placeholders.

Another potential issue is we had THOUGHT the new game tie in TFs were cancelled because we thought the game was cancelled, but it turns out the game is still on, just heavily delayed, so we could be seeing some game toys coming just really late

Wal-mart almost dropped Transformers after Beast Machines underperformed. RiD and especially armada had such good sales Hasbro had to make a ton of exclusives and redecoes to fill in the line and make more product. We went from having like 14 new molds in the main line a year to 20+, in addition to a full second line (first RiD exclusive extended line, then Universe, as well as Alternators)

As someone who was a kid during the time of Armada, I personally had no real care for it even though I probably was in the minority. The designs were alright but most of the toys were garbage due to the forced minicon gimmick taking up most of the figure’s budget. Only toys I liked were Megatron and Starscream. Had more interest in the Beast War redecos that were out for that Universe line.

Can say the popularity died down around the time of Energon and no one gave a shit when Cybertron was out.

Armada's sales weren't as strong as the year 2000 RiD line. I won't get into rating of both shows as that's not fair where RiD was airing on prime time Fox Kids at 4pm while Armada was Cartoon Network and never keeping a constant time slot which matter a lot more in the early 2000s. Armada was the after show of the huge successes that was RiD, it waned and there were signs fatigue was setting in come the Cybertron series.

It's really crazy how memory hole'd RID/Car Robots was from the market, I remember scourging for TRU Scourge for months because of how fast those exclusives sold out. Well short of Orange Jaxius, he wasn't really wanted. Was some of the best TFs ever made by that point and they followed up with shit that was worse that G2 engineering. Was a total shit show. Luckily it didn't kill the brand.

Eh, I don't see it. I think Blackout's design translates fairly well to a G1 aesthetic with the cockpit forming his chest and his limbs all sort of folding away into the fuselage.

So it looks like Generation Selects is going to be all Machine Wars stuff which will be replacing diaclone

Optimus will be a new unrevealed mold
Race Car two pack is based on the Mirage mold
Towtruck two pack is based on SS battletrap
Megatron and Megaplex is based on Needlenose mold
Skywarp and Thundercracker are based on Armada starscream
Soundwave is a new mold but it's a deluxe
Sandstorm is based on Rotorstorm
Starscream is the dreadwind mold and combines with Megatron/Megaplex.

So the size classes are going to be a bit different but it looks like we will be getting all 12. And with Soundwave and Optimus getting new molds it looks like Euro G1 is getting a real treatment. Especially after it was pointed out that Hotshot was a pretool for the turbomasters.

I wouldn't put to much stock of care into that stuff. Overtime everything changes dramatically anyway. Bumblebee was mute for the movies, games, and one TV show to then be voiced in five other cartoons. Soundblaster has been updated Soundwave, a clown of him, a brother of his and just a merc that look at lot like SW.

Hasbro treats this stuff as just toys first and foremost, it's the intense fans that get lost in caring about details. Which is all good, assuming they can keep a level head and understand it's just toys.

Hasbro originally only planned to do about 2 sales seasons of toys (about 8 months to a year) but they were incredibly popular and selling better than the last 4 years of Beast figures pout together so they just kept the line going for another whole year and stores taking exclusives which lead to a lot of new filler figures such as two unmade Beast machine figures and unmade G2 toys as well as a means to keep the hungry demand fed. Wouldn't be until the 2007 film I saw that kind of demand happen again.

Machine Wars came out when I was just feeling the pressure of being too old for toys, but it had a neat Optimus, that Starscream, that Soundwave, and helicopter guy I could never remember the name of. Likely because short of the big two in comics, this is one of the few toy series that is glutted with alt realities, You can count the other versions of say GIJoe, Thundercats and until very recently MOTU on on hand. Transformers however has had over 15 different major takes on all the casts and characters, mostly in the last twenty years. It makes it really easy to just look at say The Buzzworthy Heroic Maximal Dinobot is an alt reality version of Beast Wars where he didn't die at the end of Code of Hero but was badly injured and thus changed.

You clearly got into collecting in the era of plastic being cheap.
Beast wars hit shelves at a time where oil (a major percent of the cost of plastic) was pretty much at an all time low.
It didn't even cross the $60 a barrel threshold until Transformers energon was almost over.
We saw a pretty quick spike in oil prices until the big crash, which set oil back to just under 60 before it started climbing again, reaching about double that on average for the next 6 years.
This was the era of Transformers Prime toys.
Those toys were TINY, lightweight, they really skimped on the plastic for the most part. Bumblebee, Prime, and Megatron were pretty much the only exceptions, and even then, the movies and TFPrime had the entire cyberverse subline to let them sell a huge array of much smaller, cheaper toys to deal with the extra costs.

Finally at the start of 2015 things started to stablize, shifting between 70 and 80 until the covid lockdowns hit in 2020. But starting January 2021, oil has been steadily climbing, and early last year, when hasbro has the order the plastics they'll be using in manufacturing for this year, it was well over 100 a barrel.
It dropped down to 80 again due to a small crash in that sector, but all signs point to it climbing up again for the next year or two.

So, you've got a choice.
Pay more for the same quality you're used to, or pay the same, but get smaller toys with fewer parts.

Which do you want? Cause you have to choose

It was memory hold because Hasbro never intended to blow it up. It was a place holder much like the classics line. However unlike the classics line their was a cartoon produced but it was under Saban/Disney which is why you never see much fanfare for it is because for them to get and syndicate/sell the show, they have to pay royalties to somebody and the way no one seems to know who should be paid is likely keeping them from gambling some screw up where they forget to pay one person and Hasbro gets a surprise bill of owing someone hundreds of thousands for RiD disc/streaming sales for the last few years. Fun note, this is also why things like G1 and Beast Wars are a noisy mess on just about any streaming service. The free one's can air them with adds but the moment they want to sell it digitally (ie Amazon Prime or istore) it gets weird as they didn't make agreements on paper back in the 80s and 90s with what to do under those circumstance because that kind of distribution wasn't a thing, just physical sales and advertisements, you didn't have this realm of digital ownership.

TR has a strong cult following, and it's not hard to see why; the toys themselves were just great to play with. Not 100% accurate as BM Bruticus was in wave two when they still had other show cast to make, as well as adding those two Deception Jets in wave 2 (Skyfire and Windsheer) and they had exclusives run that fall of 2001 as well that were not from the show. Yes the late 2002 run was showing signs of them just keeping the name because holy shit was it selling that good, but they clearly did have intentions of some of those unused BM, MW and other designs still get used.

He looks so much better if you put his legs like a griffon. That and the bird head shit kind of proves he was supposed to be a griffon. His show model has fucked up wings like they ripped off legs too.

And obviously this is all a theory based on how Silverbolt looked like a griffon in BW. BM also had a unicorn and Cerberus (that got bumped up to RiD2001)

Very little BM were show accurate so I never cared about that. His colors are bad though but the Japanese colors were cool.

It's that their various trademarks/copyrights are for a character that turns into a yellow car, and making a character that turns into a bumblebee called bumblebee means they CAN'T trademark/copyright it

It's a common use word. The reason they can call the robot bumblebee is because he is obviously not one.

It's like if Hound got a dog mode, they'd have a problem
