The way I always say it, each one of the five movies did one thing better than the other four, and one thing worse. It's kind of amazing how consistently inconsistent they are. Most of the zords have the cockpit inside the head, the ones on the chest are the odd ones.

Thats hasbro "premium" zord, they included visible cockpits on each component, I think theres also an expensive japanese set that did the same.

Btw, I want to say thanks to the anon from the other day who gave advice on how to approach fixing up the paint on this Arcee kit. You were dead on about avoiding solvent paints, solvent paints like the Tamiya paint I bought are not easy to work with.
I eventually found two good water based paints that got me really close when mixed to the pink colour of the kit, and even though the patches to repair were minor it makes it much nicer to hold and look at now that it's cleaned up.
I'm still undecided on panel lining it though, I get the impression that due to the small scale of the figure might make it look a it off if I do.

Most Sentai mechanics have them in the head, but they don't normally say where exactly it is. There's only one that outright tells you the cockpit location for the robot and that's the one before Jetman, where there's even a special sequence showing it.

My favorite part was how mean and cynical a lot of the characters were, especially for a big blockbuster aimed to sell toys lol. It definitely becomes way too overbearing as the series goes on but I still like it in the first movie.

Well they should be at Thursday, with Hot Shot I feel like I'm done with w1, now Prowl and maybe Metalhawk for w2, Megs, Prime, Bludgeon in w3 and that's it for Evolution.

it's amazing to me how long it took them to pick up on the proper mecha formula. for so many years, tokusatsu guys had just a big humanoid mecha that does nothing else, MAYBE combines with a jet or something, or some jets combine into a big jet, and then finally they had jets combining into a humanoid robot and like YES guys, this works. and then they started focusing on cool animal mecha and finally sentai had its niche. I guess the zyuranger designer said he was inspired by golion? so he made one golion leg and then the rest of it original. That's a good way to go.

ROTFs propaganda was way amped up compared to the first one, to the point where it had a pronounced negative impact on the film. Transformers Generations Thrilling 30s Crosscut

Is this the first Crosscut? I know they needed *something* to do with a Skids mold.

Unfortunately Crosscut is all silver plastic, I really like Hasbro's silver paint when they use it. It only exists round the wipers and windows.
Though that does free up the paint budget for other stuff.
Like the black stripes and front and rear light. Not bad for post-2012 budget crunch era.
He's even got 2 pinned wheels. Just the front ones.

Other than that Crosscut is just a gofast compact hatchback. He rolls good and looks good doing it.

The majority silver body takes a back seat to the read and yellow accents.
Just look at the match metallic red shoes, belt, hat, and gloves. Some haberdashery made a killing off this senator.

So I really like how he looks.
What I don't like is how he can't stand. This mold has nonexistent heels, so its one of those ones you have to tilt forward slightly all the time.

Ball jointed shoulders that let him put his arms outwards about 30 degrees. Balljointed elbows with a 90 degree bend.
A swiveling waist connected to balljointed hips, and just below the thigh swivels are the soft ratcheted knees. You can cheat a double knee with the transformation joint.
Ankles are ball jointed but due to transformation, tilt outwards instead of inwards.
Oh, and toe joints too.

I got mine in from Pulse preorder weeks ago. Don't think that wave will make it to some stores sinces it the last wave of the Legacy Deluxe before Evolution. Most likely they'll pop up in ROSS as usual in areas Target or Walmart didn't stock them. I know my area never got the last waves of the Deluxe and Dragon Megs. Now we have the Evolution stuff being stocked.

I'm enjoying Starscream alot more than I thought I would. I've had the original and T30 versions of him at different times and wasn't really into them, but this mold just clicks for me. He kinda reminds me of TR Triggerhappy, which is one of my favorite Transformers ever.
I can't put him down. My only real complaint is he should have included 2 of his basic sword, but whatever.
And he can pull of a very passable gerwalk. He's almost like a knock off Valkyrie

Went to my first vintage toy shop, ended up leaving with these two for just $150. The guys behind the counter forgot to check the City Commander trailer more thoroughly for a price tag (it was hidden inside on one of the armor pieces), so that meant I got both Magnus and the armor for just $50 rather than the $200 it should've been together.

These are probably the best "cross promotion" transformers ever made. They have a ton of unique tooling for everything right down to the joints which are similar to transformers, however there's the thing, there's zero transformers branding on this. It's weird that Hasbro would skip something like that. But each figure feels like a normal transformers figure. They're honmestly much better than stuff like the Jurassic Park and Top Gun transformers. Not only that but they're deluxe sized figures but are just a little bit more expensive than a core class.

As repaints, the molds that could be used for Downshit (Wheeljack, Cliffjumper and Runamuck) already have white versions.

For Overdrive they could use the Prowl or Jazz molds, Jazz alredy was repainted as Knockout.

Closer thing to Camshaft window chest would be Trailbreaker.

So if you're ok with Omnibots being repaints you're 2 headswaps away from having most of the team.

Legacy Evolution's going to be a light series for me, just not a whole lot I'm into.

None of the Core Class Dinobots interest me, and every other core bot is a re-release or a tiny version of a character I've already got.

Hot Shot looks too janky, Needlenose doesn't interest me (IDW Needlenose made me hate the character) and Animated Prowl's alt mode is meh. Got Breakdown to finish Menasor and Shapnel looks nice. The Junkions, might get them if I see them in a store but otherwise not a priority. Crosscut will be bought just to harvest his red hands for Skids. I'm not sure a new Beachcomber warrants replacing my POTP one.

Got Tarn on pre-order, but both versions of Leo Prime look really jank. Not interested in Metalhawk or Soundblaster either.

Never liked Transmetal II Megatron (always liked his first Transmetal form more) and Skyquake was an instant pass.

I'm kinda glad for the break honestly.

IDW Needlenose was a piece of shit that the comic WANTED you to sympathize for, but it's difficult to sympathize with a character who is at their core a piece of shit, even if they were dealt a bad hand.

Looking at just Titans he doesn't have much competition. I get why fans of the guy will love him in spite of these flaws but to me he was a real step down in almost everything. Again, there is much worse than him over all, like Fort Max's really limited range and very mediocre alt modes, but he isn't above Scorponok and Cybertron Metroplex, he's good, just not as good as those two overall.

It really is a shame how things went with OS. Trypticon did everything than previous takes in spite being a Godzilla monster and I had high hopes to see what they would do with Supreme. indeed. he's always disappointed me that he doesn't actually turn into a cool robot scorpion, but more like a big .. base.. with two steam shovel hands. i mean i'm all for 'vehicular animals' so a scorpion with shovel claws, sure, and maybe a towhook tail, i'm down. but you've got to get the SHAPES right. can't just be a brickimal.

though, as a fan of the parabuthus type scorpion, I want to see one who has the proper needlyfork claws, real snow crab shits, and then in robot mode, have that entire dome that they're attached to rotate away, turning them into elbow spikes and revealing normal hands
I would also be cool with the tail turning into one leg, with the stinger making it a pointy-toed shoe he could kick ass with. Then yknow, make another leg out of something else.
