Will Rivendell release in normal retail stores too? I don't want to pay the full $500 for it, $400 is fine or hell even $450 but not more. I also think I will stop buying other lego. I might save up cash for Rivendell and then for next year Barad Dur, I don't have enough space for other sets and Today I did an impulse buy of two $10 minecraft sets, build them and then thought why I bought them. I think I got addicted to lego bros.

The Ideas """sets""" being released through pick a brick are pretty mid. The only two good designs are the modular racers and pic related. I went a little manic and overdid mine, but it would also look pretty good with a flatter classic styling too.

Sort of a similar aesthetic to what I have going on here. This has been on standby for a while as I work on other things, but the eventual plan is to extend the layout into a tiny city block. I want to add a more historical-looking brick building to the right of the café, with an alleyway/pergola between them to incorporate more dimension and nature tones.

Here's a fukkin question - if sticking plates in between studs is illegal because the gap is just skinny enough to flex the base, doesn't this additional tolerance between the two rows of studs make the connection legal again?

Almost all of the dioramas are very nice, they're just way overpriced. The only one that I've found to be worth the money is the Indiana Jones one, and that's basically just a playset disguised as an adult display piece.

Unless you can post examples, I think you're wrong. Plates and tiles have different dimensions. Tiles are legal, plates are not.

As years pass more and more sets go to their forever homes, there's less supply and the cheaper options were the first to go. Plus more and more ex-children who grew up with some lego can now start their own collections, and lego is only getting more popular with time. Also inflation.

Can’t get around the sticker issue but you can use it to a bit of your advantage. If you have to use a sticker don’t put it on the new part. Find an older part in your inventory that is not in the best of shape in which the flaws will be covered by the sticker. Polish and clean part with a fine grit rubbing compound and clean up with alcohol. If there are gouges or teeth marks on part you may have to smooth down with fine sandpaper then polish and clean. Once part is ready clean hands and carefully apply sticker. A good trick is to cut out sticker and only remove half the backing. Align sticker by pressing and moving the half that has the backing. Once it’s straight press down on the side without the backing then remove the rest of the backing, smooth out sticker and your set. You now have a new part for another build and have reused an otherwise less then desirable part for a display build. Wouldn’t recommend this for cracked parts though.

weight in grams / (price in cents / total parts) = w/ppp = value g/ppp

The bigger number better value.

Example

So galaxy explorer at 100 bucks 1254 pieces 1758g

ppp = 8
1758/8 = 220 value

I found a ton of these Missions sets on clearance. Even at 50% off it feels like Lego's personally siphoning my life savings with that price. Did these things really flop that bad? It feels like a Vidiyo situation where the packaging is vague and unclear.

Worth picking up the Duel on Mandalore (75310) for the Minifigs? Ahsoka and Maul are two of my favorite Star Wars characters and this seems like a good way to get them. The set does seem small for what it is but is it worth picking up for the minifigs?

I miss alt builds. They just scream the designers having fun, and usually tell their own story visually.
I've always wanted to do this one for the Harry Potter graveyard set, but I didn't get mine with a box so it's hard to find a good scan of the pic. I'd imagine this is Voldemort's castle that he builds if he won the duel with Harry.

A brick separator is one of these, they come with most sets medium size and up but you can get them dirt cheap on Bricklink if not.

I like it, the units would be piece-grams per cent. I would modify it so it's (weight/price)*(pieces/price) so in piece-grams per cent squared, that way the value and cost components have equal weighting in the fraction so you can compare larger and smaller sets. Otherwise larger sets will pretty much always have a bigger number than smaller sets.

LEGO doesn't use LDD or Stud.io. IIRC they have their own CAD system.

It's insane how much you can make back from even new sets if you don't care about the figs. I picked up numerous copies of the fucking queer eye set of all things from marketplace - taking advantage of normie's buyer's remorse - and made almost half back what I put down just for putting the figs on bricklink. This Leia. Apparently the smooth bun hair was a production defect and makes it worth a lot.

Besides if I ever made a hoth moc I think the newer minifig of her hoth outfit looks way better and more accurate. Amazing this one is worth anything.

That's a thing about me too, I think newer figs look much nicer. Like I really like the Boba Fett from a few years ago, was very affordable too. Also the second version of Lando in Disguise looks more accurate than the first fig, so that's another win for me.
