Bros I've been on a massive buying spree this year gathering up all my childhood sets and ones I never got. Exploriens, Aquanauts, Adventurers, Rock Raiders, Divers, Life on Mars, stuff like that. At some point I'll probably dip into classic castle and space but it's really expensive. Someone is trying to sell me a great condition 6090 but they want almost $400.

Will Rivendell release in normal retail stores too? I don't want to pay the full $500 for it, $400 is fine or hell even $450 but not more. I also think I will stop buying other lego. I might save up cash for Rivendell and then for next year Barad Dur, I don't have enough space for other sets and Today I did an impulse buy of two $10 minecraft sets, build them and then thought why I bought them. I have a small paintbrush with soft bristles and also a makeup brush, you can get either for like two dollars at any large retail store.

For cleaning of yucky used bricks I use warm soapy water and a toothbrush to scrub, rinse and let dry, or if you have a ton a salad spinner works decently.

Don't blow or move dust. Get an air purifier and one of those micro vacuums for electronics. You want to solve half the problem before it even lands, and suck up the other half permanently instead of releasing it back into the air.

What was the name of the series that looked kinda like a mix between Harry Potter and Back to The Future? It also had hypnosis spiral pieces.
Also what the fuck happened to Lego's thematic series in general? I haven't seen anything but Ninjago, City and licensed goyslop in stores for many years.

This whole time my adult brain thought everyone in these threads shit talking bionicle because it was some lisenceshit but in reality it is one of the foundations of my love for lego. I just saw this image and gave me a rush of nostalgia I have never had before. My brother and I had the red, green, and brown ones and I vividly remember his awesome little brown boulder. I'm now realizing its all just technic stuff and turns out it really did save the company in the 90s. I think I'm going to have to look at buying one again to add to my small collection. So cool...

Pohatu is the only one I still have put together. Love that dude. The rest are disassembled in a bin. The reason Bionicle has its own general is because there is enough discussion to warrant that. And a lot of posters like having *only* bionicle discussion or *only* system discussion. There is a general back and forth between generals, but the reality is a lot of people in this thread like both. For me? I don't really have anything significant to say about Bionicle. It was cool. I liked it. I've mostly moved on.

Yeah, it's 5 studs wide, once u get a sturdy wheel base rest is pretty easy, I'm having a temptation to add some cacti and a texan driver, with huge mustache and a white cowboy hat, and then submit it to the lego ideas, cuz why not.

Your car is pretty nice, I like it's 80s look. I'm a bit orthodox when it comes for lego cars scale. Nothing else works for me other than:
>cars 4-5 studs wide
>pickups 4-5
>vans 5-6
>trucks 6
>absolute prohibition of 8 wide cars
But it's kinda hard to squeeze in some detail in 4 wide ones.

Now I'm working on something bigger. I always work in 3D before I build it live, I'm kinda a semi poor-fag so I only order parts which I need. When building stuff IRL from 3D plans, always some mistakes show up which are needed to be fixed.

I agree 6 studs do make the scale a bit whacky next to a minifig and I did have a previous iteration of this car which was 4 studs wide but I just wasn't able to get in the detail I desired. I think 6 stud cars are a fine compromise of detail and scale. I don't have any 8 stud wide car sets yet but was considering picking up that James Bond one because I like classic cars.

Why is it so hard for Lego resale fags to list that it doesn't include stickers? The sheets for said sets aren't even worth a dime, but I have to go out of my way and make two separate bricklink orders of random parts just so I can meet the minimum buy quota. It's embarrassing to look back on my purchases and realize that I've had the most reliability from random fuckers on ebay.

I like the sets a lot. The figures not so much. I'm sure they are fine for what they are, I just don't like the source material. But what I really love about Lego Minecraft is how easy it is to just toss the instructions away and do whatever you want with the set. It's got more of a classic lego vibe than any other theme on the market.

They'd have to redo the old prints exactly the same so they fit with the original ones, they'd need to redo old molds and plastic mixes, they'd have to sell a simpler cheaper and in a few ways inferior product just for the sake of nostalgia, they wouldn't be able to release new takes on re-releasing sets because one of the two wouldn't sell. I'd say they don't do it because they love money too much.

As a kid I was a lot into old west movies.
So, you can imagine how much I loved the Western theme.

I wish they would have released more sets, specially more buildings to create an old time west town. So far we only got the bank, the general store and the sheriff station.
One of my MOCs projects is an Inn, a Saloon and maybe a few houses.

Any other specific purpose buildings you think I might be missing?

Same. As I've mentioned on Lego threads here in /toy/ and on /b/ in the Mike Teavee threads, westerns were my life when little and even as an adult. Mind you, I was in my mind a Comanche chief unlike gunfighter Mike, which is why I managed to get my parents and grandparents to get me all the sets for the '97 run. Maybe your MOCs could include a huge summer village for the great buffalo hunt by stocking up on 90s vintage lodgepoles and making your own cloth tepee covers. Maybe load up on old horses and some of the brick-built buffalo for a mighty hunting scene. Maybe a battle with the US Cavalry or an enemy tribe (get a few custom Pawnee figures from Brick Warriors or someone to fight it out with the canonically Lakota Sioux from the 90s sets). Loads of ideas there.

As long as the internal build is made sturdy enough and doesn't conflict with the outside, it should be fine even if it ain't the same as what they have. Heck, you might even find out better ways to build the internals than they did.

Lego will absolutely make sets based on the show. There are a lot of moments from the book they can now do that they couldn't do based on the movies. Also with a show backing it they can do bigger more risky sets like a Durmstrange ship.

If I remember right Mercy was one of the first minifigures to have a face printed on a black head. They all looked weird like that but at some point Lego fixed it.

They had Jango back in '02.
I pulled mine out of his ship for this pic. Feels like they did a better job here than they did with Mercy, though maybe I just have one with nicer printing knowing Lego's shaky quality in that era.

They've historically had a good streak, minifig torsos with white details, like police have sometimes looked slightly faded but I don't know if that's age. When printing other colors over black has been fine, Look at a Slyboots from adventurers or these skeleton drones that have half their torso painted red. However with Alpha Team Deep Freeze they were supposed to change to dark red, but the torsos are really faded. I don't know if that's because they didn't have experience printing dark colors over red or that their printing methods changed along the colour shifts (This was in 2004 afterall). The other characters in the theme were mostly fine, I'm gonna post them later for you to compare.
They later seemed to fix it because the black headed super ice drone has a more normal torso.

And the Alpha Team itself. I don't know if all were like this but I remember the neck of the coloured dudes being somewhat greenish because of the lack of strength of the print. The silver detail was high quality, wonder if it was because of the metallic tone. Also around that time were black skeletons in Harry Potter and Fantasy era Castle.

If one wants more variety of minifigs for the cowboys and outlaws, but wants to stick to the 90's print style, Adventurers (specially Egypt and Jungle runs) provided excellent variety, like Señor Palomar whose torso, head and hat provide parts for a Mayor or rich guy, or Rudo Villano offers a perfect torso for an outlaw.

i had a pirates set from the mid 2000's, the red coat had immaculate printing, still does
years later i managed to get some redcoat torsos on pick a brick (not sure how/why i dont think they're were any sets in production that was using them) they all came red and pink
and then i discovered flesh prints on black
