I know lego has always been semi mainstream, but I wish we could go back to the days when there wasn’t so many cringey adults owning lego that then go create instagram or YouTube accounts to be cringey on. Like this guy would always get recommended to me on instagram and he’s just insufferable and makes me feel embarrassed to be in the same hobby as him. I just hate how lego used to be this cool thing that was popular but not super popular, so that when you met someone who was into it you knew that you were like minded individuals who could most likely get along. Now, it’s like if you meet someone like this guy it makes me just wanna sell all my lego.

You can do whatever you want, you don't need to look for approval of others, it's your city. If you think minidolls would fit minifigures then why not. I personally like the Friends line buildings but I'm not a fan of those dolls, scale seems samey, so dolls can be replaced with minis for a compromise.

I did submit my MOC to Ideas, am I shilling for it? nah, it wont even get 100 upvotes cuz it's small, boring, pretty basic and not a popular licence. I just did it for fun.

I remember back in college I got a new roommate and one day he accidentally forgot to hide his klocki in his drawer when I came from a lecture, he felt really embarrassed and tried to make all kinds of excuses, I just went to my table and took out my own klocki out of the drawer.
Shame he was already finishing his degree and so he left the dorms after a few months.

guys making a MOC is hard

I bought this set a long time ago because I liked the colors and detail but it has been collecting dust as it's so forgettable so I disassembled and spend an evening trying to build something out of it but I can't come up with anything

Nice, I'm doing something similar.
Hot tip: instead of buying blank torsos, buy common junk torsos for cheap and rub the printing off with a nail buffer. You can use a pencil eraser too but it takes more work, especially for older prints which are more resilient.

I have one or two of these cake pieces from old Mickey sets, but haven't seen the pieces in ages. If memory serves it has a mostly hollow inside and bottom with a cylinder to hold a technic peg that it will connect to. Thanks for reminding me of that beautiful piece, now I wanna dig around and find it

You probably just have too many specialized parts. To get started making fun mocs you just need bricks (as in the basic 2x4, 1x4, 2x2, 1x2, etc) and slopes. That's it. Make some buildings. Adjust those buildings. Once you've made a few then you can start using specialized parts for little details. A lot of sets today are made with specialized part usage and technic so it's overwhelming for the average builder. The ideal ratio is 90:10 classic bricks: specialized pieces for moc'ing and yet most sets are something like 5:95 so that is your biggest hangup. Unironically buy minecraft sets as parts packs and resell the figures.

Monkey Kid Chads I kneel.
Please forgive me for calling your theme a CCP mandated product.
Each Monkey Kid set is unique and kino in it's own way and is even better than it's competitors City and Ninjago in their own way.
City is just generic cookie cutter souless Police and Emergency sets
Ninjago is just power rangers but with a ninja twist on them.
Monkey kid sets all feel soulful and each model tells an interesting story. The modular Monkey Kid sets are especially great.
I was just jealous. Jealous that another East Asian oriented theme was allowed to succeed while many other original themes had their life cut short by Lego.
I'll never get over Chima's death, I first hated it when I saw it was going to replace Ninjago, but only until it was gone was when I realized how much promise the theme had. It was basically Lego's avatar but with a mode diverse cast of characters.
I am envious that Ninjago got to live and got many waves of sets in the process, while Lego stopped producing Chima stuff after year 2.
I saw the concept arts for Chima and honest to god this theme had so much fucking potential for expansion but it was never realized.
I also ended up hating Nexo Knights for replacing Chima, but then I realized it was also doomed to fail to the east asian juggernauts.
I am a friendless virgin, who knows he'll never get a good gf due to the lack of my penis size. I cling on to Lego so much because it's the only thing I have.
My countries culture sucks and I have no community to go to.

I'm getting back into Technic and that's just about my only gripe with the theme. Once upon a time, you could by a boring motorbike set and get a way cooler hoverbike alt build as a consolation prize. No such thing exists now.
Technic was at its best when specialized parts were at a minimum and the builds were techy abstractions of real-world vehicles.

I thought the original 5 factions looked a lot better than the ones released in later waves.
Also I felt like the 8 Main protagonists looked pretty solid as well. The only ugly thing about their figs is the way they looked underneath the mask.
Also Ninjago also had plenty of blunder waves as well. I don't think it was fair to can Chima just because the last wave was visual soup. Then again, if Lego didn't can themes in the first place they probably never would have made Chima in the first place. It is like a double edged sword.

I have access to a high quality UV printer at work. Do you guys think it would be worth it to open a little website and sell some custom figures?

I'd be mostly remaking "classic style" figures but with original designs. My worry is that most people are drifting away from UV custom prints and only want pad printed figures that look more factory Lego.

I agree in theory that one wave being bad isn't a good reason to kill a theme but the third wave was huge, almost as big as the first wave, so it was probably a classic case of overinvest and then drop it like hot shit when you don't get the absurd returns that people fool themselves into thinking are assured
plus the trans pieces just look so, SO bad when they're bits with complex geometry like minifig legs, arms, or the armour bits

Now that you mention it I actually always found the eyes of the chima figs kind of awkward.
I think most people thought Laval had sonic like eyes, because of the massive helmet eye sockets, when in reality his eyes are only the yellow spot in the middle.
In the tv show he looks slightly better because he doesn't have eyebrows juxtaposed on his head.
The eye sockets on the irl minifig helmet are actually supposed to be his eyebrows, but I guess it was too expensive for lego to give each tribe helmet a unique eye socket mold, so they just printed some eyebrows on Laval and Eris.
Just compare tv show Laval vs Minifig Laval.

Newfag here, i was looking at some lego stuff, I noticed people said for the Lego Porsche 911 technic, the bags aren't numbered

If that's the case, then how are you supposed to get the right pieces for what you're currently building? Can you match up the bags with what you're supposed to be using, or do you simply have to open everything, organise every piece into sets and then just work from there?

Final complete poster is now out! Looks alright, appears to be a city in the background. No sign of Zane Jay or Cole, but we know Zane is in the season (he has a mask part leaked and a racer car set) so I don’t think the other 2 are completely gone.

Also, Lego is marketing the new Dreamzzz theme….. through Ninjago? There’s a teaser where Kai tells the others in the monastery about a “dream” he has, where there’s a green and white robot (kinda looks like the iron giant, but is “Z-blob”), a rabbit with yellow bands on its front feet, and a giant crocodile but it’s body is a car, with the legs coming out of its wheel wells. I’m guessing there’s a thread for dreamzzz but I just found it interesting that the first teaser is through Ninjago. My guess is Lego is trying to promote it through an already well known and profitable ‘thing’ to try and give it a head start.

The animation style is different from what we usually see in Ninjago, I wonder if it’s the same as what we will get for the new show. Lloyd also has black eyes in this, which is strange. Poster is also confirmed to be a “teaser poster” which, I mean ok? A little weird? But cool, hopefully we see jay and Cole soon. It’s concerning that they haven’t shown up in any media so far, but Kai and Lloyd have been in all of them. Nyas kinda stuck in the middle.

Interesting. Y'know I had an interesting dream last night. I was tricked by a group of Mr Meseeks into delivering some metal poles to a garage, and when the door opened Donkey Kong was there, then we started disco dancing Saturday Night Fever style because I delivered the poles, and I helped get the kart ready, and I watched from the sidelines as various cars from pop culture drove down this Japanese drift track, even a Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler, anyway night fell. And there was also a tanker trucked pained with Pin-up art of Coco Bandicoot. And fireworks exploded in the sky to announce our kart would be racing when I woke up.

It literally is the Lego box inside a slightly bigger box. Frustration free packaging is supposed to be like cardboard packaging instead of those impossible to open plastic shells/packaging that need strong as fuck scissors. But with Lego, the two times I got frustration free packaging cus it was cheaper it was just the sealed box inside a ready to ship cardboard box the size of the original box instead of some Amazon box.

I apologize for the late response and if this is wrong (still haven't found mine after looking through my unorganized bins), but it at least connects through the bottom tube. I believe it connects using only the bottom tube and the rest rests on surrounding studs unattached around it. Here's another picture of the set if that helps. If I find the piece I'll post a picture of the bottom in another lego general
