On a side note, I really hope KK and Ratlor gets restocked or start hitting stores. I have not seen a single Snakmen wave figure on pegs at either Walmart or Target.

Moss Mashup was the first thing that made me interested in Masterverse toys. The fact that Sssstolen is called part 1 really makes me hyped for continuation.

If artwork keeps going to be as pretty as that Snake Face comic then Minicomics might as well switch to toy photos.

But full tv show would be incredibly based. Of course writing would be tricky for many reasons, e.g. every character even background extra would have to be motu figure or custom..

I really wish mattel had just reissued the vintage figures instead of making these things. budget oriented 5.5 throwback motu figures would totally sell.

That's what I thought. People argued that MOTU has too many lines cannibalising each other but they're actually are very different. Actual vintage would step on Origins toes too much. Better make big figs that every bigger company seems to sell so much.

Plus they're way more budget conscious than vintage. Less paint, detail, accessories, gimmicks... If this line continues expect slighly bootleg feel to sculpts, less removable parts, no weapons that can't be reused (like Snake staffs) and no unique features.

I dont know but maybe it has to do with Mattel's perceived notion that they have to update the figures and no one wants a strict vintage clone?

In a way I dont mind. I really liked the first Origins Skeletor with the open mouth. The vintage BA and Dragon Blaster Skeletor are still in my collection and they are more special because they aren't imitated.

I'm probably the only person who really loved the new 200x He-Man Origins head sculpt. It was close enough to tell who it was but different enough to be its own thing.

One of the Eternia Skeletors had half boots and it made me pause for a second because it's a nice touch that wasn't advertised anywhere. I'm pretty sure it was the one that came with the Roton.
That's a fine nod to serious motu geeks.

If Origins continued at retail and Mattel slipped some variants out the same way maybe it would have been cool. But I see it more like they would have made a big deal out of such a small thing and ruined it.

He-Man looks very faithful other than different body proportions, nice face sculpt, but they did mess up armor. No sword slot, no paint, and not only they did Rev logo, it's not even good logo. It looks more like W. I also dont like how armor straps stick out from back.

Skeletor most notably had weird pear face though they also simplified his skirt and if you look close his bat looks like like Batman logo.

Mer-Man seems the closest to vintage. The only thing I noticed after looking is slightly more covered chest but that's likely proportions thing. And of course, while other 2 figs had only sword, this gets zilch.

Man-At-Arms is most messy. No weapons, no paint on helmet and armor on his limbs is permently attached with his arm now being fully yellow. No mustache too for those who prefer it.

its the lack of green and black around the cheek bones. matty sprays skeletor's entire face american cheese yellow and then calls it a day despite vintage skellies having a base of yellow with differing shades of green accents and black around the edges and corners of the eyes and hood

MAA and Merman really suffered the most. You could tell as much would be the case when thesr things were first revealed. Merman looks like a cheap cosplay and MAA looks like melting wax. I agree about he-man's harness too, that goofy fucking "H" always seemed stupid to me.

I think they will because it will afford Origins opportunity to do two things they like doing: re-releasing figures and referencing vintage art.
They're not gonna want to stop at the Zoar and Screeech packs for doing multipacks, so after the birds, accessory weapons seems like the next obvious step.
So take Jet Sled; release that in a multipack with a new (not-deluxe) Snout Spout. They get to re-release a character, and say "hey look we referenced that poster where Snout Spout was on Jet Sled fighting monstroid!"
I don't have enough poster, comic and art work knowledge pick character pairings for the rest of the accessories, but if I know you guys, someone will be able to pick accessory/character pairings that will reference something obscure

Me too, it suits him perfectly, I just feel like they could have easily given one of the variants a vintage-accurate head instead of more mediocre BA Skeletor-style imitations of it.

Like at least with Attack Track you could wheel it around like a normal vehicle, but Dragon Walker without a battery just seems like it'd be annoying and no fun

Well let's see...
Other than the '84 Weapons Pak, MotU didn't really do separate accessories until '86, unless you count the two birds we were talking about.
JET SLED: you just suggested Snout Spout as an alternative to He-Man.
STILT STALKERS: only alternative to He-Man in art was Moss Man (Ultimate Battleground painting, William George)

I love it because it addressed all my issues with the actual 200x Skeletor design (plain white skull and human feet). I'd imagine it's unpopular because it consequently doesn't look enough like the character.

Original release, easily. Super expressive, affordable and easily obtainable. I just love his goofy headsculpt, and he's a perfect "standard" Skeletor. I do really love Terror Claws, Rise of Evil and Lords Of Power Skeletor as well for their gimmicks or unique headsculpts. But until Laser Light or Filmation Skeletor hit origins, I don't see any other taking his place.

Also the only Origins Skeletor releases I don't particularly like are 2.0 and He-Skeletor. The rest have their merits. But if someone just got into the line and could only pick 3, I'd say first release Skeletor to have a standard, 200X or RoE to have an edgy one, and Terror Claws or Dragon Blaster for the most fun gimmick.

I don't actually have a display. My figures come out when I want to play around with them and take pictures, but 90% of the time, my figures are all standing haphazardly in a cabinet, my vehicles are sitting in a drawer and Castle Grayskull is in a pillow case to keep dust off on my desk. Snake Mountain will probably get the same treatment.
Maybe I'll set up a permanent display someday, but for now I just have them for play and want them out of the way when not in use.

Here mine ... its very much a work in progress so don't judge to harshly yet. I mostly only have my motu set up at the moment and I plan to put lights in and a riser set up for the origins on the top so they can all be seen

RoE is still so discounted everywhere there's no excuse not to make Kedor customs. I have aplain Keldor, "Classic" Skeletor(with Skeletor forearms & Webstor feet), Battle Armor Keldor(be sure to swap arms at the elbows) & later made a 200X version.

If you want a Kronis that looks forward, hope for luck or buy one loose on eBay. Most I've gotten have that McFarlane sideways look going on due to factory errors

With all the talk about MV and Origins surviving, I think it's fair to say that CGI just ended. Show's over. Masterverse issue with CGI story is any day now. Give it few months so third book is out. And then that's a wrap. Maybe Masterverse will occasionally plop out a figure but I dont expect much.

Get a second shelf and do the same thing, make one the good guy shelf and one the bad guy shelf. Space out the figures more to fill both shelves, your thing looks pretty good because of the sides and top shelf but the middle shelves, especially the evil/snake shelf,is a crowded mess that looks like shit.
Splitting things up and spacing them out will look fantastic.

I'll be getting the new snake mountain for play. I have the classics one and it's on display(with hardly any actual motu lol), but it's so big and unwieldy that it's not the best toy. After his debut, he got a new variant every year same as Skeletor. Literally the only reason Skeletor has overall more versions is just because he was there from the start while Hordak didn't debut until 3 years in.

I'm still expecting Blast Attak to be deluxe with a working gimmick. Saurod will lose his and be basic, as will Blade and Gwildor. But what about the Energy Zoids? They seem way too unpopular for the deluxe treatment the vintage toys got as MotU died.

Zoids are a huge question mark, there is no way they'll be basic. Deluxe minimum. Maybe they'll get two-pack or MC release. i dont really know how to handle their gimmick either. It's insane how much cash Mattel poured into two of their most obscure characters (they were even getting their vehicle) One idea is something similar to Roton or Spinerella in their stands.

Side note, Laser He-Man and Skeletor will have to battery powered right? I dont think it means we should hope for other battery toys like Dragon Walker but they can't dowgrade them.

Mattel was pouring money into MotU willy-nilly at the end, not expecting 1987 orders to fall to a few percent of 85 & 86.
He-Man and Skeletor's whole era was going to be de-emphasized in favor of He-Ro (letting a new cartoon get made), except the Beam Blaster/Artillerary toy and Laser figures were going to tie in to a live action TV show if the movie succeeded, but first we gotta make figures from it, and then here are these spinning tops with their own vehicle...

My problem with the 200X vehicles is that they're all a little too samey - not among the toyline itself, but toys of the period in general. If you took He-Man off that thing I would have absolutely no idea what toyline it's from.

I think the animal figureheads in the vintage line probably helped add a ton of fantasy flair to otherwise sci-fi vehicles to make them unique, and hell, sometimes the sci-fi half of the equation was trivial at best, like the Bashasaurus for example whose weapon is just a giant boulder.

It's hard to describe but the animal motifs in the vintage He-Man vehicles tended to be almost like Viking longboat figureheads in the way they were stylized. The 200X ones tend to favor the sci-fi half of the fantasy/sci-fi combo way too much. There were toys like that in vintage too but I've noticed they tend to be less popular as well, probably for that reason.

Would anyone be pissed if NA was just booted form canon? Only 2 characters returned, only 1 of them is even recognizable. The vintage toys weren't even MOTU compatible. I mean big fucking deal. Some action features can be fun, but not always. The battle armor drums wear out, refuse to catch & stay in the bad spot. Fixing them means breaking open a torso. Origins will do the same eventually. I don't miss it on MOTUC or MV.

Roboto kept his in MOTUC, excluding the jaw. Origins has it. Modulok kept the eyes in Origins at the expense of neck movement. Leech is functionally more fun than MOTUC but standing him is a pain. Thunder Punch sort of brought back the old power punch a loud clicker, but am I ever going to really use it? Snout Spout & Dragon Blaster Skeletor have the water sprayers, but again, how often will ti be used? Kobra Khan ditching it didn't bug me.

It's like Robosen Optimus Prime. You'll tinker with that shit for 10 minutes & lose interest, while your articulated whatever series Prime will remain poseable & more playable without a gimmick tied to it.

Kids might love them but kids are less interested in toys now overall & prices going up constantly mean parents buy less of them.

Bringing some of those characters into Origins would have brought them into the fold and led to more acceptance among motu fans. The Classics versions are essentially worthless, so it's a good point that we don't need the MV versions. But at the 5.5 scale and motu style I really think would have helped NA fit into Motu collections.
The Space Mutants have some great designs worth rescuing from purgatory.

I wonder if the reason why Masterverse isn't doing 200X is well...Some of the sublines here never had toylines - Revelation or New Eternia - and some only had smaller simpler action figures- CGI, Sun-Man, NA, etc. (POP and Movie are in-between those with some character never having toys and other having only simple ones) But 200X in Masterverse would be basically identical to original ones, only without gimmicks.

Of course on the other hand, some MV toys are redundant with Classics.

I think you're overthinking it.
The reason there's no 200x in Masterverse is because it's in Origins. Each line is doing different stuff to be unique.
Origins is doing vintage accurate, vintage PoP, 200x, minicomics, and OCs. Possibly Filmation too if they follow up Kol Darr
Masterverse is doing Revelation, New Eternia, Filmation PoP, NA, and live action film.

Maybe they'll eventually have the lines step on each other's toes in the future, but for now they haven't and it's probably so each line has something to draw fans. They want you buying both lines.

Komodrake is awesome, It's a mega sized figure and as one of the most recent would probably be one of the easier ones to track down.

Good eye on the skeleton. It's a one off figure that the maker sent to me for free after I asked if he had anything available so I didn't have to go to scalpers, which is absolutely wild for this kind of stuff. That was before he really blew up though. The cloak and staff actually come as part of the silver armored horde looking skeleton on the top here, but it's so nice that I couldn't bear to have it covered up.

Love everything about them, they have great designs and their smaller size compared to standard motu really works for me.

Expect to at least see 3 shipped to some physical stores. I think Walmart is done with MOTU after getting duplico exclusive. Don't think they;ll be ordering anything new past that. They got mountains of Stridors and Rotons they can't get rid of and won't put on sale. My geuss is some idiot exec told stores not to clearance as hard because of what happened during the pandemic when shelves were pretty much empty for months in the toy section. They want it looking full but then the computers see stock is full so they don't order new stuff. Then all the warehouse items get sold off to bargain retail stores.

There's talk on heman.org from a guy who says he is a retailer that Mattel has solicited orders to retailers for wave 15 and 16. The waves will be 3 figures and will be reissues of Mer Man and She-Ra plus 4 Filmation characters. Also a new MotU line is coming in addition to Origins and Masterverse.
