Very excited.
Looking forward to Clawful (even though he'll have Skeletor legs), King Randor, Jitsu and... uh, trying to think who else uses the fewest new parts. They're taking forever to get to Clamp Champ when he just needs a head and clamp, which makes me think they don't know how to make a clamp from their existing parts.
Maybe he'll be the Heroic Warrior in a future Fright Fighter set, since that vehicle calls for a springing pincer too.

I buy extras when I can for trading or resale. I have flipped extras in the past but now I hold them until they are worth reselling years later. At least that's a good strategy with Lego... we'll see if Origins hold their value over time.

Super excited. I bought all but the most expensive sets. They're fun, posable, budget-level recreations of bite-sized nostalgia.
The vehicles are cute but they need to lean back into the exploitable minifigure aspect of it all.

Action figures like MOTU, Marvel, and Star Wars are never worth reselling because they will always make more and newer things for collectors to consoom.

The only time you get lucky with a figure sale is when it's a niche character or rarity that doesn't get wide release, and you manage to sell it before they make a new version that is more easily accessible.

How do you keep your figures standing upright? What are the best poses for balance? It's more of a problem with Classics than Origins, but they all fall down eventually. The telltale thunk is encoded in my DNA.

Clawful, Jitsu, Kobra Khan, Spikor, Two Bad, Blast-Attak, Saurod, Blade and Twistoid are the missing ones for Mega, vintage-toy wise.
Now that we know the line didn't suddenly die as of Battle for Eternia II, I suppose we'll see Clawful next, since they showed him off way back at Powercon 2020 (!).
We're also still waiting on Zodak and Anti-Eternia He-Man from that presentation, and more esoterically Eldor and Mo-Larr the dentist.

The guy who spilled the beans on the new line has basically confirmed it's a TMNT/MOTU mashup line.
He said the line was based on a "crossover comic that got cancelled" and did not deny when people guessed TMNT

Apparently it will feature Eternian versions of the Turtles and mutated Eternians

Their arms are actually swappable but I was still annoyed to see them scatter so easily. He's doing fine now, chilling in the Landshark. Gets into frequent skirmishes with the cat reaching up and batting at things on his shelf, though.

We're definitely in for a Randor, Jitsu, Clamp, minicomic versions and Slamurai. The great thing about MEGA is I can justify so many repaints. Anti-Eternia recolors too, I'd be interested in having all the heroic warriors in those colors.

Indeed. They take up so much less space than 5.5" or 7" figures. If they made everyone as Mega figures, I'd probably reduce my Origins collection to deluxes, Mantenna, Horde Trooper and a couple other.

If Filmation is supposed to be this big new hook, do you think we'll be getting more frequently toon variants to minicomics or 200X?

Perhaps even they'll aim to complete Filmation vintage, and do every single toy character that appeared in the show?

(not much point to do it with vehicles, except Attak Trak. Playsets make more sense but are unlikely)

Hopefully the Filmation figures will be more like pic related than like the Super7 toy line, in that this is more like a vintage Hordak in Filmation colors with a unique arm cannon that the actual Filmation Hordak never had, rather than literally the animation model in 3D form.
Or do like the vintage line did when they adapted the Horde Trooper from the cartoon and gave them cool added detailing the cartoon Troopers didn't actually have.
That's the only way I can see this not sucking.
(It'll probably just be like the shitty 4 pack He-Man though)

I thought I explained it clearly enough. I don't know how much more clear I can be.
I don't want the toys to look literally like the animation model in 3D form like Club Greyskull or those Super7 things.
Super7s arm cannon was literally the one that Hordak had in the cartoon. Powercon Origins arm cannon is NOT the one from the cartoon. It's a new arm cannon that never existed before with more detailing than the cartoon version ever had plus additional added details like the node on his shoulder. So that Hordak is, technically speaking, neither strictly a Filmation Hordak nor is he a straight repaint with no new sculpting since the arm is new. I'm trying to say if they're going to make toys INSPIRED be Filmation versions that still have a comparable amount of detail to everything else in the line, that would be preferable to the "smoothing down" and toonifying that they did with that 4 pack He-Man
If you still don't get what I mean, I don't know what else to tell you.

the filmation figures are 100 percent going to go the super7 route for the sake of nostalgia bucks. Otherwise they wouldnt be bothering. Think of all the diehard tooners who would happily double down on these variants in the hopes of getting more filmation rep in origins. It's unavoidable.

Some of the Revelation figures are just fairly standard looking updates of MOTU designs and those ones seem to have generally sold well despite how wretched the Netflix miniseries was. They can blend in pretty well with the rest of the 7" line so there was nothing particularly offensive about them.

Anything that is clearly specific to Revelation like HRT Teela was clearance bin fodder though.

Yeah they were made for "adult collectors" in mind so yeah that ML scale. It basically is a spiritual successor to classics minus the subscription and click war bs.

I think the line got better once it ventured outside of Revelation crap. Also some of the pieces are compatible with Origins, so there's some options.

My personal favorites are Frosta, CGI Skeletor, Man E Faces, Two-Bad, and Buzz-Off.

Really hoping we get Wundarr and a new eternia Stinkor maybe with funny smell.

Two Bad would be a weird-looking deluxe package with just a small shield next to him.

They've never done a non-vintage deluxe, which makes me confident that Sy-Klone is a future basic figure (ahem, pic).
It's going to be a long wait for him, the Rock People and movie trio... unless they're going to do something as crazy as deluxe Gwildor.

That's all Snake Face is. No gimmick, just one alternate extra head, no extra weapons. As long as they can think of enough stuff to full the box I don't think it matters to them anymore.

The only thing I think we actually won't ever see is non-vintage deluxes, just from the basis that deluxes tend to shelf warm and clearance more frequently than regular releases so I really can't see Mattel having the guts to try it. If they can't even sell Mosquitor or Snout Spout for $22 when they've got notoriety, how much worse would Strobo sell at that price point? Unless it's a Mattel Creations deluxe

I don't think you understand. If Masterverse gets Modulok, you're not going to get box-of-swapable-parts at all, and Filnation version won't be additional parts to enhance it.

I also have a few anti-eternia ideas in mind. basically going the nine yards with the earth 3/shattered glass MOTU concept and further distancing AE characters from their main continuity counterparts. Pic related is "Mold Man" (AE Moss Man) and he's the evil savage master of molds and funguses. He'd be covered in purple flocking and feature neon green armor and weapons.

Just watched the latest 200X episode upload and realized Young Randor parts could be reused for a 200X Marzo. Boot were already made with the Keldor 2pack. Only thing new needed is the head and chest overlay.

thanks for the kind comparison anon. usually whenever I sit down and draw MOTU stuff I aim to pour as much effort into the piece as possible. part of the reason I havent drawn more stuff is because of my high standards. Even then some stray doodles can come out kind of wonky. I have alot I havent shown but like I mentioned earlier I dont want to drown these threads with my art. There are also alot of ideas I havent fleshed out entirely yet.

I had a similar concept when Mattel had the create a character contest for Classics. Mine used the Sy-Klone torso and would have a hologram sticker of a fish in the chest as if it were a fishbowl and Roboto arms, the tentacles were mechanical and would have Trap-Jaw ports with swappable weapons. The head design on mine was more squid-like but your name is cooler than what I came up with.

I hope this is the direction they go in. The last few waves of Origins has been very underwhelming (at least for me.) The announcement of Filmation made me feel like giving up on the line if it's just dumb shit like Fisto with a slightly different head sculpt. The explanation I had for mine was a robotic suit controlled by the fish inside and the squid up top. Since the heads are on ball joints, the squid could pop off and be a solo mini figure on its own (maybe with a squirt feature if you incorporate Cuttlefish's "bath toy" gimmick idea).

They were right a few times in the past, but now there's no reason to take anything they currently say as anything more than freewheeling speculation.

So with that image, 4 of those figures were already leaked by currently more reliable sources, but I see no reason to believe NE Teela or another Lyn are imminently coming. I'll wait until a more trustworthy source reports it

If an assortment of toys won't ever sell, they need to wait for the periodic resets their bosses order. Then those toys will be clearanced and they'll put a different toy on those pegs/shelf.
NOTE: the department manager at your local Wal-Mart or Target is not a He-Man fan. To them, every wave of basic Origins is the same toy. The new shit they'll stock will be from a different action figure line.

Besides, it would be just cesspool of most minor obsure characters. Do you know why we fixate so much on vintage line? Because Motu never recaptured that quality. There are few individual characters that did but vast majority of new Filmation characters is so dull they make Sun People look interesting.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate and say that it's a good thing Classics went as deep as they did.
Everyone has a favorite filmation loser, or obscure NA character or 200x variant armor...whatever it may be. We meme on Scott all the time but the fact he helped get figures made to try and capture all these niche waitlist requests is pretty impressive.
That being said, I do agree that's it's time to move on if niggas be thinking Classics is coming back. I've accepted that Frosta is never coming to Origins.
