Honestly this was received far better than I expected. I'll probably pick up 2 of the stormtrooper ones on sale, cause I kind of like the idea of have giant generic stormtroopers. Boba looks great, but Vader feels more like an afterthought than anything. He desperately needs some sort of cape to fill him out.

Here's a closeup of the Boba figure. Is that the print from the UCS Slave1 set or something new?

Speaking of prints, it's kinda hilarious that of all the sets that are in desperate need of printed bricks, these lousy 16€ mechs are the ones to get them.

These mech builds also gave us the cheapest way of getting all six Infinity Stones. I wish they do a Deadpool mech.

What's the oddest bit of Lego trivia that you know?
For me it's the sheer amount of variations of this single Voldemort figure from 2005. For some undocumented reason there's at least four different versions of his head piece, and he and Lucius either will come with a light or dark gray cloak piece. The white head variant is only shown as a single listing on Bricklink, and doesn't have its own designated part page. There could be way more than just what I've gathered for pic attached.

Yeah you can't overstate what a collossal failure disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm has been. One of the first things they did was cancel the Clone Wars, ones of the most beloved pieces of Star Wars media. They didn't care how well it was doing, they just said nope, no Prequel shit anymore. The old prototype was way better. Getting rid of baseplates has taken a lot of value out of large playset type builds.

Then we also get a bunch of clone troopers we already got except now they have holes in the sides of their head and are in a battle pack that is 2x it's normal price and a Yoda's starfighter that no one asked for and that's not even seen in the movies.

I'll give Lego my money once the UCS Sail Barge comes out if they don't manage to fuck it up.

Yeah, baseplates also allowed to have little hubs of gizmos and clutter to make a scene more lively. Not to mention specialized plates like the crater plates and landing pads of classic space adding a lot of character by themselves. Modern building sets always look somewhat barebones when there isn't a baseplate involved.

Collectables always have a bit of a down turn during recessions. I think covid collecting really highlighted just how few vintage sets exist. Lego's production numbers back in the day were low, pair that with how many survived the bin and are complete, how many of those have instructions/boxes and how many are in decent shape and most vintage sets have a really tiny supply.

All the millennials that bought 80-early 2000s Lego are also adults in earning years and now Lego is marketing towards adults and it's in a lot of pop culture. So I don't expect prices to free fall.

I don't think there's any shortage of sets in general. There's just a shortage of fully assembled sets listed complete on eBay.
People don't tend to throw out lego, even the most oblivious parents who's kid moved out usually just toss it all in a box in the attic until they eventually sell it at a yardsale for 5 bucks. A good majority of the lego ever sold is still either in circulation or collecting dust in a basement waiting for an estate sale. There's still plenty of pieces available if you're wiling to buy things parted out.
But because most legos end up disassembled and mixed up in large bins, most people sell it as such instead of sorting out individual sets. It's just not worth the effort. So you end up in a situation where a set will seem scarce because there's only 2-3 complete ones on eBay or bricklink, when there's actually pieces enough to build thousands of them available so long as you're willing to put in a bit more effort.

It's really a time thing too. Even if you have all of the parts, cleaning, finding them all and doing inventory, replacing lost / broken ones and listing it are a lot of work.

Listing individual vintage parts is a huge pain too. BL sellers would much rather part out 20 of the same set and consolidate their lots with 50% margins on every brand new condition piece then mess around with individually listing used vintage parts.

Just finished the 10 Dreamzzz eps, was pretty good. You can pretty easily picture the idea for more sets from the locations they've been, and the characters. I assume future sets will be from future episodes though, not going back to these first 10 (for anyone who follows Ninjago or Monkie Kid, is that how things go? Is it always forward looking or do they go back on content). I'll probably continue to follow it for a bit. Hopefully we get more interesting builds.

I was playing Minecraft where you still needed to Paypal Mojang like $10 Euros before they fucked the game up and consolefags took over. Thanks Anon, as far as I know there is no decal database, you just have to search around. The classic castle page the other Anon linked is a good resource I use a lot. The first article about torsos has good general information on sticker printing. It also describes how to draw a decal from a photo if you want to recreate or modify an official torso. I use paint dot net for editing and heraldicart.org for custom heraldic designs.
Also, depending on your printer and the sticker paper you get, the print may smudge if you press it too hard when applying. I used an acrylic spray sealer to solve that, but using too much made the sticker paper a bit translucent.

Yeah, I figured as much. It's obvious but it bothers me for some reason, like it just feels as if Lego's selling out and chasing shitty "remember this?" stuff that cost exorbitant prices rather than be a toy company.

I liked it enough. I try not to be overly critical for basic cartoons, and I found the characters likeable enough

He's quite incompetent, but they did hint at some greater story for him, so we'll probably get his backstory at some point, Also not many Lego enemies could not job, they can't win, after all.
