Just how big is this microscale castle? Judging by the slope pieces used for the castle foundation, it looks pretty small to me so I can't understand how they used over 2100 pieces. If they were gonna use that many pieces, they should have just added some extra detailing on the castle foundations so as to give the appearance of individual stone pieces (pic related).

As a history-autist and a castle-fag, it bugs me how Lego only briefly dabbled with non-high medieval/fantasy castles back in their original Ninja subtheme for the castle series. Those early attempts at Japanese castles weren't very good, but it would have been fucking awesome if Lego released other historically-inspired castle designs, like motte and bailey castles, or forts based on Islamic, Indian, or Chinese ones.

There IS a hint of blue but let's be honest, it's extremely muted. The current light gray color they use is almost certainly more accurate. I don't really care either way but SW autists will definitely throw a shitfit if they change it now.

That new noodle-like piece? Yeah I'm not a fan, doesn't feel like Lego at all. People say that a lot about lots of pieces, but I really mean it. The piece is too big and too smooth and too round, Lego has truly lost its blocky roots and that's proof of it.

Don't believe any of the sets come with a mech but you could pretty easily buy a ninjago mech and pose it alongside the buildings. The larger ones (like 71720 or 71738) would be about 4 stories tall compared to the ninjago city sets so they should be pretty visible depending on how you place them

It's objectively not. There's a gradient between sand blue and light blueish grey. TIE fighters are 80 sand blue and 20 light blueish grey. If you wanted to argue for light sand blue maybe. But it seems unnecessary when the color is essentially the same.

honestly looks pretty good, but I am sure the price is stupidly inflated, I mean all there arcitecture sets are 200+ dollars, for what looks often smaller than a $40 dollar lego car. Maybe its just the image, we will wait and see.

If I find one for discount for $60 i might buy it.

The upcurving edges of the castle roof are interesting though I think that some sort of new piece? I haven't seen it before.

Hello everyone,
Last time I bought a lego set was the one with Spider-Man and Hobgoblin as far as I remember. I’m looking for a toy for stop motion that has only basic joints (arms, legs, head) and obviously, lego is a popular choice for that. The problem is, over the years I’ve heard more and more complaints about lego quality being in decline. Specifically, I’m worried about cracking minifigures and bricks. Are the accusations exaggerated or should I look at other toys?

Lego quality is in decline. It's just passing the threshold where it's affecting their brand goodwill. Not with the common crowd, but certainly with the more cautious or critical of mass-manufacture and business administration. That's the major problem with having such vast manufacturing output. You gotta cut corners to keep pretending infinite growth is viable, and the last 10 years Lego's overhead has gone WAY up so it's only going to get worse. Colors like brown, dark red, and tan have a chance of splitting or chipping. You may never experience problems or you may constantly. It's really down to which colors you plan to build with. If you avoid the aforementioned colors your chance of experiencing problems drops by a hefty ratio. There are other colors with problems like new light gray and such but it's much less common. YMMV.

Off-brands are certainly an option but they're less available and come with their own complications. Even with declining quality, they are still the most consistent building brick in terms of color, and yes, quality. If you choose to try lego I suggest pic related. It's a certified neat little guy with a lot of customization options, the first logical one being knees.

No that was/is a thing. Not so much for the newer stuff on the market. It was really bad ten or so years ago. Then made resurgence 4 years ago. Cracking seems to be in much better shape now. But if you're planning on doing Lord of the Rings Lego stop motion using their first wave of sets from the 2010s, you'll be in for a rough experience. Fortunately minifigures are quite cheap provided you aren't buying licensed items and/or collector's items. You can go into a lego store right now and build a random minifigure. Or order what parts you want directly of lego.com's pick a brick.

Eldorado. I have enough bricks to use for medieval-ish themed MOCs already. I'm trying to plan out a better Eldorado fort that I can combine with a modified version of this Lagoon Lockup MOC, and an additional church, lighthouse, and drydock for a proper imperial port city.

I'm a big Lego autist and I have never had a piece crack or break on me that wasn't 10+ years old. For me, it was dark red and brown plates, as well as some various Bionicle joints. But even then, it's still extremely rare.
Overall I think Lego's declining quality is an exaggeration. The only real concerns I have of such a quality decline are the occasional thin prints and awful price points. But as for the integrity of the pieces themselves, I think the notion that off-brand Lego has superior quality is a falsehood.

What I do like about this set is the Y-wing it comes with. It's not to scale but large enough to fit the minifig pilot and adds extra play value. Wish more sets did this instead of the smaller empty tie fighters we usually get.

the priority for the automation is to create the fewest amount of orders possible. If you're clicking "buy now" on a huge list of pieces it may very well be creating the cheapest carts it possibly can, when the alternative is creating N carts all with one item each and then getting buttfucked on shipping. I'll usually de-select the expensive items it from the "buy now" list, and then recalculate the automated orders based on what's left. It'll usually flip around which stores are being purchased from and leave you with a much more sensical order. If you can't wait until another round of orders to get XYZ expensive piece, the next best option is usually to explore a few stores that have that item for cheap and see what you can get from your list at that store. Then you can use the automation on a list that only contains the remaining pieces. If that sounds like a pain in the ass it's because it is.

As for the roof, if you have the pieces I've always wanted to try a whole bunch of these 1x1 tiles as shingles. Regardless of the roof design, I think the colour should be sand green, or something similar that looks like oxidized copper. It would break up all the tan nicely.

Sand green can be expensive so watch out for that. Dark green or dark turquoise might work nicely too. Mix in some sand blue for a weathered texture.

They're okay for buying sets, bad for selling sets too, and great for bulk buying. Some of the older and less popular sets go for surprisingly cheap, so you know whoever sold it got ripped off.
The bulk bags are you best deal, you can rummage through thousands of legos to pick out stuff you like until your bag is full.

I thought of that, but dont own any in my collection. I'm thinking about ordering spare parts to fill out the two sides with excessive windows and just leave the one as a glass wall. Pretty much what >>10473384 suggested, only I plan to fill the other window sided wall too tnat has tge trashcan and the light pole. Just leave the one side with the sloped glass as us.

I don't own many Legos so I don't have much extras to fill it with. But yeah I'd like to fill those walls and buy a few geeky pieces. Maybe a Cap Shield, Thor's Mjolnir and a Batman Cowl. But yeah I need a minifigure in there too.

I tried making random nicknacks and used scifi pieces, but I could make it more comic shop like with some Marvel abd DC pieces, which I don't own any.

I'm stupidly proud of this simple lava lamp I cobbled together with spare parts. Same goes for the white longbox full of comics, which is weirdly inverted and I has smooth sides facing upward to fit the comicbooks in it.

A true masterpiece. This set has similarities with set no. 6374, and is merely a modern update of the five year older set. That does not, however, mean that this does not merit a place among the greatest of them all. Look at it: The white fence, the garage, the beautiful black car, the curtains in the roof windows, the cobblestone driveway. All the details add to this set's greatness. Unfortunately this set was also one of the last classic LEGO houses with only a few successors during the 1990's.

This is also quite expensive to buy these days. The average price on bricklink for a complete set, with or without the box, is around 90 dollars. If you want a sealed set, you will have to pay up to 400 dollars.

I just love those Advent Calanders because they have been a lot of fun for me, my family, and my friends. Years ago when my brothers and I were old enough we dicided together that we no longer had to do gift exchanges for Christmas. You were still allowed to give gifts if you chose but there was no longer an expectation of it. That was the same year I learned of the Advent Calanders. So that year at Thanksgiving I suprised my borther and his family (wife and toddler son) with the Star Wars Advent Calander. He was actually a fan of Lego Star Wars so this was perfect. All I asked was that he send me a pic every day of what he got. Instead he sent me private videos every day of opening each box and putting together what they found. A few times I needed to help him figure out what it was since he wasn't much into the TV series of Star Wars, just the movies. That was the year with gunmetal gray 3PO and white Chewbacca. Since then I have gotten them the Calander every year. But a few years ago he just went to sending pics. And my best friend, who is an only child, was kind of jelous and wanted in on that so he started getting me the City Advent Calander. I'm a truck driver mind you so these calanders have given me the ability and excuse to keep in contact with people leading up to Christmas.

Checked and Western MOCs are indeed probably the easiest to do if ordering entirely off of BL. Although the tepees can get pricy unless you just get the 90s vintage lodgepoles only and use homemade muslin cloth cutouts layered with Mod Podge.

This is an improvement. I think physics-wise it makes more sense to connect the tethers from the bow of the pod so the pulling force makes more sense, or at least a connection that implies as much. I like the strings and the wholesome hodgepodge look though.

Here's my latest MOC, an updated version of the Armada flagship. I've always loved the original for the white hull and color scheme, but its deck and lack of any interior rooms always disappointed me. Since I doubted Lego will give any love to the Armada faction any time soon, I slowly worked on this over the last couple months. I tried to keep as much of the original's bright color schemes.

I intended my ship to be primarily a trading ship so the red gun ports are fakes like some merchant ships used to do in real life. There's no steering wheel since I based the design on Portuguese caravels that used a tiller.

I think Bricklink has a "cash on delivery" payment option for local pickup which stores rarely use. So I guess the idea is criminals create a Bricklink store with parts/sets that don't exist and create other accounts to "buy" the parts for ridiculous prices to create seemingly legitimate income. The ridiculous prices would be to stop normal people from buying them. I can't imagine many criminals are autistic enough to know how Bricklink works though.

The first person to knoll was Andrew Kromelow, a janitor at Frank Gehry’s furniture store.
