I don't mind Slugger because while I don't agree with his politics, at least he wears them on his sleeve. I'm not so sensitive that I'm incapable of watching anyone with differing opinions.
What bothers me more is when some Youtuber pretends to be "apolitical" but constantly throws in stupid jabs - feels a lot more "malicious" I suppose than Slugger's approach of just blatantly laying out he's a standard faculty lounge liberal

I like Polynesian culture so I found myself buying a Disney Princess set of all things. The bed area was well made but not really my taste, but I did like the war drums, so I converted it into a war canoe with a drunk little conquistador thats stumbled into a leadership position.

Yeah. Their insights on the toys as toys are nice. The socio-politcal insertions not so much. That's a big and common problem with these types when they review any kind of entertainment. Though, from my scattered viewings of Slugger, I say he carries his beliefs better than most. Some lefties definitely get carried away in condemning old entertainment and the people who enjoy (ed) them, really only indulging in the content for the views. Slugger on the other hand I feel doesn't let his beliefs totally get to his head. He definitely does still enjoy the old stuff, doesn't let his personal beliefs contribute to his final thoughts, and even recommends them if he really likes them so even MORE people can enjoy them. Really, I find more offense in his LEGO-specific hot takes and even those I don't entirely disagree with. Really, the only point of contention I'm sure would be between us is how we feel LEGO should be allowed to proceed when designing their toys in the future. Otherwise Slugger for the most part keeps his LEGO reviews focused on the LEGO as toys, I can appreciate that. That's why I pop from time to time on his stuff even with our personal disagreement. I just hope he never throttles himself totally into a leftist NPC mindset that I've seen other content creators unfortunately spiral themselves down into.

Here's my variant of the Skull's Eye Schooner. At first, I was planning on just piecing it back together, but I never liked the use of greys on the hull, its lack of an upper deck separate from the gun deck, and the inefficient usage of the hull-space just to install the movable rudder mechanism. And lego's always designed all their sailing ships with a high quarterdeck for some reason, so I wanted a different design for variety.

The end result was this variant. I also reduced the mast height so as to fit it in my shelves more easily. I haven't added sails and mast yards though because I haven't made my custom sails yet.

I'm not entirely familiar with the characters and collect for the ninja and Japanese architecture aesthetic, but I got 2 new sets and one included Cole, Kai, and Nya and the other has Lloyd. I know at least 1 has Jay, but I don't think I've seen Zane in any of the new sets.

Atlantis was able to have some better sub builds by making most sets either a sub OR a brick-built sea creature, instead of having both in every set. Crab Crusher is good but the Neptune Carrier absolutely blows it out of the water. I've never cared for large brick-built animals in any line so Atlantis's sub-only sets appeal to me a lot more.
Both lines could've used another wave to reach full potential though, lego has wasted a ton of themes by giving up on them after just 1-2 years when even fucking Chima went for 3

So I live in an older area that was built in Yugoslav time and most of the buildings are commie blocks. Metal trash bins are scattered about the place and like the flea markets they are good spots for finding lego pieces. I am guessing that mothers cleaning out the kids room throw all the old toys in a bag and leave them by the bins. The gypsies come by in their horse wagons and dump out the bags or boxes, take what the want, and leave the rest on the ground. They obviously don’t think the lego bricks are worth anything.

Hey guys, I’ve read here that legos fade if exposed to even a small amount of sunlight, in my childhood my legos only ever got second hand sunlight since I lived in a room that only had light that came from under an awning next to it (no direct sunlight) is I closed the blinds in my new place and the sun only hits the buildings for a small amount of time in slivers each day. Is this too much sun? Should I make sure that the windows are completely covered?

I wound up picking all of these up for half price and doing them with my kid. App experience aside, they're pretty good parts packs and have some neat small builds in some of them. Space has the best parts, animal rescue has some cool animals in it, but that'd be why you'd get it. If you want a good basis to moc a ship off of though, it's a good place to start for $20.

When I was younger I entered mars mission competition from the european Lego club magazine to design a video game. This was after crystalian conflict and I'm not sure what happened to the idea from the winner, but Lego sent me a runner up prize and it was this figure. Obviously my ape brain kicked into overdrive and it got all chewed and fucked up like all my other Lego men but I really appreciated the gesture. Bricklink is far worse than eBay for buying complete sets. Lazy motherfuckers on BL can't even bother to take a few pictures of something they're trying to sell for hundreds of dollars, eBay sellers will have a dozen photos of some $10 junk. Usually get faster shipping from eBay too.

They have been a godsend for making articulated creatures at minifig scale, as well as connecting parts at odd angles for structural purposes in builds. I use them in place of bar/clip joints to hold assemblies at an an angle because they have far more friction and wont budge, especially if you have more than one joint used in tandem. In pic related they support the weight of this flood juggernaut despite being top heavy without issue.

really depends. I used a bunch in this juggernaut build and it needs a support to keep it from bellying out. You can solidify the connection with a bit of talcum powder on the ball if you're not planning on moving the joint around a whole lot.

I've ordered from BrickLink about a dozen times now and 90% of the time it's been a bad experience. Wrong pieces, missing pieces, pieces are all scratched to shit/heavily used, minifigure not in the advertised condition, etc. And these were all well reviewed sellers too.

Maybe it's just me, and anons can throw out stories that contradict mine, but here's how my experiences with irl Lego stores go (unofficial second hand ones)
>Wild variance in selection, some stores have small inventories or just don't get the themes that I buy
>Prices often more expensive than what it'd take to just Bricklink an equivalent item, even with shipping factored in, Minifigures exceptionally exorbitant in their prices
>Pick a brick sections are almost always cheap color vomit pieces that are left unsorted in a massive table, worthwhile parts picked out before dumped out by owners
>Used sets NEVER complete (I went to this one store a few states over that had a "verified complete" label for some used sets, didn't mean shit as I got home with about a dozen parts absent)
With Bricklink I've not had any of this trouble, the worst I've had is people taking a few extra days to ship stuff out. I don't know why anyone experienced with Lego buying would go to these places outside of the novelty factor.

Cool lego colors besides magenta? Thinking about using some form of green+magenta (and the regular grays and blacks) for a mining theme, Any ideas for what I should use? There's a pretty neat independantly owned lego store near me. The Pick a Brick section is on the second floor and it's just a bunch of loose brick bins the owner got on fb marketplace and never bothered sorting, so you can always find treaures in them, rare colours, minifig parts ect. The pick a brick cups supplied aren't as big as official lego stores but they're also cheaper so it's usually worth checkin in especially if he gets new bins of loose bricks in.

Hey lads I'm not sure if this is the right thread or if I should make my own but I'm looking for the best microblock brands.
Lego is too expensive for me and I only want to buy building landmarks and LEGO's ones are either ridiculously expensive, ridiculously large or they look like shit (like most of their architecture series). Nanoblock is japanese and does some pretty good stuff. Major downsides are that the instructions go level by level so they're a bit more intense and the bricks aren't clones of lego bricks so they have a bit a trouble dealing with pressure if they're built diagonal at all.

that said, the karaoke bar was a huge standout for me, and i would've bought a standalone kit of just this.
