They included the gloves. It’s a big deal. For someone who’s trying to world build an Indiana Jones collection, the attention to detail they exhibited is admirable. I hope they continue these new Indiana Jones sets, as the three they’ve done so far were excellent.

Attention to detail is admirable, but it really is not a big deal, compared to what kinds of lego sets are actually made based on what movie scenes. People can easily replace flesh colored hands for other colored hands if they care that much about wanting "gloves."

I’m not saying it’s a dealbreaker for me if he didn’t have the gloves, but the fact that they included it shows that someone at LEGO cared enough for them to do it. Every Indy in the 3 sets is different and it’s really cool. I hope we get that Temple of Doom set somewhere down the line since it’s my second favorite after raiders.

I noticed some high prices for LotR minifigs on Bricklink and decided to see what all of mine are "worth". Taking the low end of used asking prices, this all came out to over 800 fucking dollars. Is that for real?

I wanna like M:tron more (mostly because as basic as the red and black color scheme is, it works for a reason) but their design is probably the lamest of the space minifigs and their dumb M logo being plastered everywhere is kinda distracting. I guess it fits for something that's less about space exploration and more about doing contract work or whatever.

I always treated them as a mining company and not a "faction" like the other space lines. If you need transparent neon green pieces dug out of the baseplace, they'll do the work for you no matter what kind of tunic you're wearing as long as your chromed gold coins aren't too worn.

The original lego darth vader helmet was a caricature that fit the look of lego, but now its literally a 1:1 perfectly scalled screen accurate helmet, and it looks out of place on a lego figure.

I think they occasionally have some neat ships amidst the sludge of grey/black but it's few and far between. I still rarely buy those though because they've overpriced to hell and back and it's really fucking annoying how the obvious justification (beyond mousecuck tax) is that it'll have glup shitto with an exclusive ketchup stain print on his shirt and I really don't give a shit about minifigs 99% of the time and especially not licensed ones.

You should sell some if you don't care that much for them or are using them for specific mocs/displays. You can get pretty good looking LotR fake lego minifigs these days on aliexpress, and you can use the money to buy sets you actually want.

As someone who fell in love with 80s/90s lego, I don't get the huge obsession modern lego fans have with minifigs. Especially the people who shell out hundreds to have a complete set of each minifig series. Yeah, the elaborate prints on not only the torso, but arms and legs look nice, but they're nowhere near worth the price they usually go for.

All lego battery boxes and motors are the most overpriced lego products to ever come out. The old powered up ones were just as bad too. Why the fuck does a battery box alone cost $50, $70, or even $250 in the case of the large hub? 250 is at the range of a nintendo switch or a decent smart phone.

You'd have to spend more than $800 on sets to get that many figures again even if everything was remade today. Lego doesn't like to give away a ton of figs who it's license themes. It wants collectors to buy multiple of the sets and part them out to "build an army".

Prequels are better because even though they're worse movies the world still has the George Lucas autism powering it which makes it very compelling both visually and in a "what if these had been good" sorta way

Sequels are written by listless NPCs that had no idea how to make good sci-fi, let alone a specific type of good sci-fi. All aliens are flesh colored blobs of flesh, all ships are gray greebled messes.

Only episode 3 and 8 rose beyond the level of trash not worth watching unless you're a mega Star Wars fan. Both the sequel and prequel trilogy suck in different ways. Even the original trilogy, as much as I like them, are a difficult sell to any modern audience who didn't fall in love with them by watching them as kids. Meanwhile, the prequels, have actual soul, world building, and feel like star wars. They were made out of passion, despite the autistic and bad writing / storytelling, you can tell George cared, he pumped his soul into those movies even if they were bad, they still have some good aspects and can be remembered with nostalgia because of the time they came out and the frenzy of Star Wars making a comeback.
People still discuss them, think about them, obsess over the designs of the ships created, as well as the clones and characters. There is even multiple tv series based off these movies even if they're bad too.

The point is, nu-wars is utterly and completely soulless. It won't even be remembered nostalgically by kids that "grew up" on them because they've already been forgotten.

If you don't get it, let me explain. The director, JJ Abraham, does not understand the scale of space, or the speed of light. Apparently, he believes that a superweapon, that fires its somehow relativistic weapon through tens of thousands of lightyears, or thousands at the very least, towards other planets, then blows up 5 at once, is somehow going to be visible from another star system far away from the planets that were blown up instantly. So basically, the light from these exploded planets are then conveniently seen IN THE SKY from some other planet lightyears away, how convenient that the sky just happened to be facing that exact part of the galaxy that had the planets blowing up too, in the daytime. The light literally traveled faster than itself to be viewed from another fucking planet.

That's more or less the same argument OT fans said about PT in the 00s, and guess what, the kids that grew up on those films are now the dominant voices on the internet and saying shit like Ep 2 was actually good. I'm willing to bet that in 15 years, there'll be a fair amount of defenders of the ST, but probably not as many as PT defenders, purely because kids todays are more likely to have been influenced by marvel movies, not star wars.

It's interesting you say that because I've been really coming round on the Lego Orchid set myself and was thinking maybe that's the one to go for.

How are the bouquets in comparison? In terms of build and display, what do you keep them in and do they look good?

Also, another note, anyone have any idea if bootleg lego works fine for the flower sets? I know some sets like technic can have issues.

Working as a Lego modeler.
Making the mega pieces for that life sized Le Mans car was a pain in the ass.
All you have is a Lego Designer file you can view and you have to figure out yourself where to begin with the build so that connecting all the pieces the way they were arranged to be as sturdy as possible doesn't become you battling with one big panel for an hour trying to connect it with pins to the model from 4 different sides at once.
Worse yet is when you come to the shift and the person doing the mega piece before you had a terrible approach to building it.

As a guy that got bored of those after a few purchases, i can tell you it's the same shit at the end of the day, just a bunch of articulated statues of your fav characters to pose in a shelf like it's a hall of fame thing. But not actual TOYETIC FUN. The fact that a basic core character like Galactus or an X-Men sentinel is so hard to produce tells you how doomed to boreness this line in this specific scale always was. The early Marvel legends were just that. Big collector's items to be put in a shelf like the giant raimi Spider-Man or 2003 HULK stuff. Nice looking, articulated stuff to look at. Not very fun toys in longterm. Then we had smaller marvel universe stuff that could actually become soulful like kenner star wars but at the time that line never take off for some reason until recently

We don't need autistic shit like Peter Parker's room or an avengers doll house but you know the line needs some fucking content. Playing with Marvel Legends is like playing with a 3D model in blender except the render is more fun because you can rig it into a videogame and make it explore new worlds and shit. Like i said, that specific line of "scale of 6" posable statues" have been releasing some nice world building content like ghost rider/wolverine bikes and recently the 3.75 figures just came back, but still not very fun stuff unless marvel and star wars is all you care about

And to keep it in-topic, Star Wars fans should take a moment to breathe and appreciate the fact that their beloved franchise and universe can be materialized into real life into, simple but fun pieces of plastic. Leave that screen accuracy and printed actor faces to statue fags

It's predominantly Vidiyo, Chima and Serpentine figures. The Vidiyo figs I've accumulated by picking up an odd clearanced package/set here or there, and the Chima stuff is just pretty easy to find at a good price. The serpents are my favorites since there's a variety to them that the others can't offer. You can swap parts on figs between most of the tribes and you won't get any misaligned prints or bad combos like you would Chima or Vidiyo. Downside is that they're usually not cheap and also hard to find in good condition. I have a few Atlantis and alien figs, and I've got plans to start getting some of the bug men from that one "recent" space wave.
City is just built from sets I've gotten over time, I don't often like or buy vehicle sets so that's also been a barrier for me getting more figures.

Also, it's funny that you ask about bootlego, because I would actually recommend them if you like the flower/plant series. In fact, both sets in my picture here are fakes. There's way more variety on aliexpress at cheap prices, and new flower models keep coming out because they must be popular. Generally with fake lego, if there's a lot of complicated moving parts, there's a good chance it won't work properly and will need some fixing with real lego parts. But the flowers use technic parts mostly for aesthetic purposes and nothing is meant to be moving, so they're fine. 1~5% pieces might have either loose or too tight clutches, but more than worth it at the cheaper prices.

Chima can work well for a counter-world. The alien minifigures work extremely well with an equally alien city that's supposed to be on another planet. Then there's combining sci-fi with other themes. I'm bummed that Lego never did Star Trek since then I could put a Kirk, Spock, and McCoy in the Wild West stuff I do.

The detail and accuracy of the new one is really impressive. But the sorta squished cylindrical look fits the minifigure style better, since minifig heads are also squished and cylindrical. Same goes for most of the other modern helmets; they look really good but don't quite fit the style as well as the old ones.

I've watched the Plinkett reviews. The prequels were terrible movies and the shitshow that was the sequels didn't retroactively make the prequels less terrible. But the prequels had lots of cool and unique ideas while the prequels were 99% rehashes. The prequels are nothing if not memorable, which is far more than can be said about the sequel trilogy. How do you niggas maintain space for your large models? I just got Lion Knights Castle, which is great, but I had to dismantle Pirates of Barracuda Bay and put it in storage in order to make room for the castle. Also pleased to hear that about bootlego! I don't mind buyng the real thing, the orchid isn't too expensive, but shit man I looked at bootlego and it's half the price. I could buy 2 sets for the price. Are the colours a match and everything? One thing I worried is that the colours might look off on some pieces, or that they'd start to lose their colour/yellow quicker than real Lego.

I usually have problems displaying really tall sets since they don't fit into shelving units very well. I've had to shrink down both my loop coaster and haunted house. I low-key think lego made it super tall just to inflate prices, because it worked just fine for me even after I shortened it by almost 12 inches. In fact, I think it looks better if you reduce its height because the carts no longer complete the whole track insanely fast, making it more fun to look at.

In any case, if you really have no space, dismantling sets to store it away is a good practice since by doing so, you'll probably force yourself to clean the dust that's accumulated. And since a big part of what makes lego enjoyable is the build experience, you can enjoy building it again as you rotate sets from display to storage and back to display again. Really big sets that aren't that fun to rebuild can stay permanently displayed though.

With fake lego, color is never the issue. The real issue is the clutch, and I'm not just talking about how well the bricks stay together, but also about how much force is needed to join bricks. You can just tell what's real lego vs fake just from the feel of putting bricks together. Still, it's never a big enough difference that always warrants paying 3-10 times more money. Another minor issue is very minor differences in brick dimensions. For some really large sets, especially those that are really long or tall, the minute differences in each brick can add up to make certain steps in the building process be a real bitch in placing the bricks together. But I've also seen tons of people buy fake versions of fuck-huge sets like UCS AT-AT, Eiffel Tower, or Titanic and have no problems at all.

If you are going to use aliexpress, don't be a retard and only buy from sellers that have been around a year or more and a good track record.

I'm familiar with fake lego vs real, funnily enough I'm actually putting together a bootleg technic set right now. There have been tight fits and stuff but thankfully a lot of it has gone rather well so far. I've also used non technic bricks and did note how some were loose, but then some parts were also tighter than actual lego when together so it's give and take I guess.
I think buying on Ali, even with newer sellers probably isn't a bg problem with fake lego, right? Because I assume they all just carry the same stock anyway. I doubt there are 2 or 3 versions out there where some are worse bootlegs than the other, they're all similarly priced.

I have seen other non lego ripoff sets on Ali for flowers, but just not sure if the builds will be as good or as sturdy. I think I'll go for the Orchid, but if you know of any other cool flower sets let me know. Might go for the bouquet too, in bootleg I can get both for the price of one Lego Orchid

How would one suggest a simple idea to lego?

I like the basic minecraft houses, but they're all in larger group sets, I think it would be neat if they just did single villager houses that could be bought one at a time and slowly connected to build a larger village.

I found out that two sets that I have displayed have their stickers peeling off the bricks' surface and curling up on themselves and in both cases it's all of the stickers. What's causing it?? Probably can't be the sun because it's all the stickers, but is it some sort of manufacturing error getting triggered by moisture or temperature or something else??
