In all seriousness, a shame to see that Bayformers designs are getting the shaft even harder than this year. I still really want an RotF Breakaway (remember when we were all certain he and DotM Warpath were habbenin'?), or a proper vending machine Dispensor lawl. Probably still a ton more from movies 3-5 left too, but I don't really care bout them; I just really wanna see some revised 07 designs mang. Or at least rerelease Blackout with the Grindor hands for fucking sake-
As I mentioned last thread, Starscream and Jazz are the only good 07 SS toys left, but even still they ought to refresh them, then. Have you guys seen their prices on ebay?

Not a fan of G1ification; didn't work for the Prime characters, and while Legacy Prowl's better I still don't like it. If you like him go ahead man, but I rly don't. I really dislike Legacy Prowl and think he's, even just in engineering, a big step back from why the original toy was so class.
I don't trust future Legacy Animated figures to be good, or at the very least "to my liking".

Armada Optimus ausanon here, thanks to the recommendation of that one anon I took Toxitron Grimlock over SG Grimlock. I hope SG Grimlock will still be available whenever it goes on sale. Anyways it was a lucky find to get these 3 exclusives all at once but they were so pricy I couldn't get the others.

I had no idea that the MP class cassettes matched the original. That being said, I think some of the Siege-era cassettes are considered a tight fit for the Soundwave/Soundblaster/Blaster doors.

Blame the lack of wrists. Either make the hands a bit smaller so they can rotate in spite of the sculpt, or raise the detail a bit so it has room to rotate. That would solve the issue. Then again, lack of wrist rotation is a common thing even today. Look at Starscream, a character that uses a sword.

I was going to mention wrists but it was rare for anything to have rotating wrists back then. This could have been easily rectifiable but alas. Didn't know newer figures lack a wrist swivel, I'd thought that be standard. I don't know if I want a new Thunderblast, the old is not great but it works.

I miss being able to see a toy in a shop and walking out with it. Every time I go to a shop that used to sell transformers toys, I almost never find them any more. I found a couple being sold in game and a very brief time in tesco (but not in Sainsbury’s), but even in the local toy shop they don’t sell transformers anymore. I wish toys r us was still a thing, I used to get tons of toys from there when I was a boy.

I got back into buying Transformers right around the time ER Optimus was revealed, and I ended up choosing the 35th anniversary Siege over it. Too many things about ER Prime bugged me, and I've not regretted that decision or had any desire to buy the ER mold since then. If the rumored commander class SS86 Optimus is a significant improvement I would consider it, but I absolutely love how the 35th Siege looks, so it would need to be something really special.

That's not how it works.
If anything, FunPub's characters becoming more mainstream will only make the original toys more valuable as more people will know about them and more crazy collectors will want.

Seems to have been a renaissance of TM Primal posting since I got him. I love this guy; I have a weakness for Transmetals anyway, and the blue chrome is a hell of a look. Wish the one I got wasn't so worn but he was complete and for the price I can't complain.

The gaps aren't great and I won't defend them, but will say that in practice, his legs are so dummy thicc that I found it's kinda hard to get him in a pose where the inner legs *are* totally exposed and in your face; the other leg always somehow manages to be blocking the other from view lol. The square behind Skids' head is definitely lame though yeah, in that it's lame bc they easily could have engineered a simple flap, but it's also pretty subtle in robot mode and not the end of the world, to me personally.

Personally I'm the opposite. I love the Bay aesthetic (well, first two films only) and I love the G1 aesthetic, but the designs in Bumblebee/RotB just kind of bore me. They are well done, no arguing that, but I mean... they're just "G1 if realistic". I'd rather just buy toys that look like PROPER G1, yknow? I like Legacy Skids a lot, it’s not a great mold by any means but I enjoy his boxy design. He does feel lacking in paint detail even though he actually has a lot of paint for a deluxe, and the problem is 1) he has a few large clear parts which need to be painted, so eats up a lot of paint budget and 2) poor mold management. The hands and bumper are the most obvious examples, those parts should have been switched on the molds. It would have saved a bunch of paint, given the figure accurate colored hands and wouldn’t have forced Crosscut to have red wheels.

Speaking of, I really should get around to buying a cheap Crosscut to swap the hands/torso. I’ve painted them but I could never quite get the red to match.

The problem with the new version is that the mold was designed with the grey thighs and other parts in mind, so that they'd blend in the vehicle mode, particularly the grill section.
The white parts stick out like a sore thumb.

I'd say it's about right. He's a great figure as-is and if you add some upgrade kits he only gets cooler. If you do, the only thing I recommend installing is the leg extenders for improved height. Makes him too lanky.

Thoughts on the Legacy lines of toys?
Thinking on buying the closest I can find to G1 toys today and these are the nearest in my stores.

Also I like Soundwave actually transforming in a radio instead of whatever the other toys do.
I'm also in kind of a budget and other toys outside of the Legacy line have a huge jump in price.

there's supposed to be an OSKO coming out for around $100 but I'm not sure if it'll ever actually come out. i don't know what the current aftermarket is like for the official, i got mine for $120 before they reissued it but he's pretty great so i don't regret it too much.

To jump in on the previous thread, i got devcon and found him to be really uninspired. I had passed on the Blurr figure for the same reason, but when they revealed devcon i jumped on it knowing itd be my only chance at the character for a reasonable price, but hes just pretty mid.

His colours are nice, he poses fine, the bot looks decent, alt is a standard space whatever, but theres just something about the figure thats lacking, as the zoomers say, no rizz. Its the same problem i have with the skids mold, passing grades in all the core needs but nothing that really grabs you

I see, picked mine up today and tried to find the best looking one but all of them looked the same.
Bit of a shame since its a nice deco detail I'd like to see more of. Would be cool to see on Needlenose's mould since he has the knightly aesthetic to pair with it.

It's pretty great to get a slew of accessories with DD to build him up.
If he had tighter joints and less hollow lower legs he'd be pretty great all-round.
I know the hollowness is due to transformation but it bothers me the most since I like to see how far I can push the poses.
He just doesn't have the stability.

Yeah I thought that was odd as well, they give him three different ways to attach the missile when he's got plenty of 5mm ports already.
He's got the clip, standard 5mm peg and the shallow peg.
Even though the guns designed for him there's still not a lot of clearance when it's in his hands.
Very bizarre but a nice looking weapon.

Tooners are to blame as usual. She was the only main female TF in G1 (there were others but they only appeared in like 1 episode) and because it seems Hasbro is allergic to new ideas and anything that isn't Geewun, we get her over and over again.
Now to be fair, ROTB Arcee is a cool design, and the Core is a nice little figure. But she's stuck in the worst movie in the series, which bombed spectacularly, so we likely won't see much more of her.

I may be totally wrong, but I just assumed it was changed because the word 'Slag' had been adopted into the Transformers lexicon as a curse word in-universe. Primal and Rhinox were quite fond of dropping S-bombs left and right in Beast Wars, so with it being established as a canonical swear, Slag's name suddenly became...awkward in retrospect, leading to the change.

The problem is that Bayshit tends to shelfwarm, especially compared to SS86, and the lack of distinctive designs doesn't give them much to work with. The whole gimmick of Bayverse SS was scale and most of the stuff left is either too small to scale or Never Ever going to happen (the twins.) Compared to something like G1 with the multiple Blitzwings, there's just not a market there for them to redo the entire bayverse again just because they sucked the first time. Promising multiple years of product just to replace existing product a huge ask and I just would not hold your breath.

If you're that invested in Bayverse just go for a Third Party offering. The chinese cared about Bayverse for a while there and since Movie MP is dead you're not going to get any better.

You're not wrong that it shelfwarms, but I'd say it only shelfwarms BECAUSE the shelves were flooded with poor-quality product to begin with. And hell if anything, shit like Coronation Starscream and most Bumblebee Movie figures have shelfwarmed wayy harder than any Bay SS figure that (I at least) remember. Like, 2018 is soon going to be 6 years ago now; I think having taken a break from Bayformers was absolutely needed, I agree, but they should get back around to doing redoing some of them sooner than later. If not next year, then they absolutely should in 2025.

Pteraxadon is nice because he doubles as an axe and a blaster. Smashdown is probably my favorite though. Rung is the only unique blaster, the others are all very samey, so choose whichever deco you like or whatever is cheapest. The shields are worst imo, they're just boring.

Thanks, shame to know most target masters were all the same, especially since I'm unfortunately not really into the melee weapons... way I'm viewing it is I'm buying cool blast effects that happen to come with a tiny dude, so since 99% of transformers use guns, I'm gonna buy ones that are actually compatible with said guns - which, sadly, the melee effect parts really are not.

Your choices are pretty sparse since a lot of them reuse molds wholly or partially.IMO Singe/Aimless have the coolest looking blast effect but good fucking luck finding Singe at a decent price since he was last wave understocked. of the others I think Firdrive, Blowpipe and Caliburst are okay, Rung fucking sucks and Lionizer is "meh" at best.

The best two out of the whole Siege lineup are Pteraxodon and Smashdown IMO. Smashdown in particular has a really cool look when transformed and a great "impact" effect.

You didn't mention the Earthrise ones but they are almost all terrible so that's okay. The Soundbarrier/Doublecrosser mold is fragile and dinky looking, Slitherfang just doesn't look like anything and the only others are refreshes from Siege.

There's a tutorial on how to fix the hip joints on every version of that torso and you can make any combiner more stable by putting strips of adhesive rubber on the bottom of the feet. ball joints and mushroom pegs can be tightened with acrylic, as per usual. The only tricky thing is when the comboner joints for the knees/shoulders start to weaken. I've seen steps for taking them apart, but I made do by just slathering the walls of the joint with acrylic to get a little bit of extra resistance to assist the ratchets.
