I recently finished watching all of Doremi and it's become one of my favorites.

I just found out today that Bandai planned to make Figuarts based on Doremi Sharp but they never left the prototype stage.

I'm so mad these never came out. I have this Evolution Toys Onpu but on top of it just being too big to scale with anything, I feel like her limbs are proportionally too long.
These looked like they were going to be properly scaled to other Figuarts, or at least close enough to blend in.

I like the face but that tail is an articulated mess. I prefer just the Black Series one for not trying to articulate the tail to make it look better. It’s not like Jabba moves much anyways.

This is the final monster they needed to release to have the main 7, and they somehow lost the license. the mummy might be my least favorite of the main cast, but i cant help but think of how cool it would have been to have an army of mummies

WHAT? I did not know. That really sucks. The Jada Monsters were pretty decent figs. I'm guessing the license period was up and Universal wanted them to renew for an entire new term whatever that is (typically 3 years for most moderate to large IPs), but since they went through all the monsters already, maybe Jada knew sales wouldn't be anything close to justifying the minimum royalties required.

Bro, your Bring Arts? But I agree, I wish Figuarts had kept making Kingdom Hearts figures instead. I had such high hopes early on. Thought we'd be seeing a Dragon Ball amount of releases with Disney heroes and villains in addition to the original characters.

I'll always mourn these guys, also Irwin dropping dead in the middle of their DB peak, I loved going to the GameStop on the weekends on my bike and getting the new IF Labs figures, they only cost $12.99 and you got a really nicely painted figure and diorama and later on I'd watch DB on toonami, definitely can't go back to that era anymore, media and retail have changed so much

These are articulated? I can see a joint here or there, but I can't imagine they had great range with what I can see of the engineering. Can they actually pose reasonably, or are they pretty much adjustable statues?

Interesting.

These are kinda funny-looking, but in a neat way. I sort of miss stuff like this, most toys these days are held to a much higher standard. Gotta follow model sheets and shit, it's not the freewheeling 90s anymore. It is kind of novel in retrospect to see all these funky takes on popular characters.

I lament the loss of improvisation on the part of toy designers more than anything these days. The closest we get to off-model or asspull designs anymore are either inspired by out of date concept art or just the uninteresting result of both bad design and ever-worsening quality and cost cutting.

The only really wonky thing was the faces, and that was an issue across the board with JP figures still being awkward before the tampo printed eyes solution became standard.
Just in terms of sculpt and paint, they're still very nice and impressive.

Palisades was unappreciated in their time. They put in so much effort, and their blisters were packed so full they sagged on the pegs. They included tons of accessories, and even BAF-style diorama pieces so you could build stuff like the house or the Tallests' floating platform thing. Incredible amount of bang for your buck.

The only really bad thing I can say about them is they were very fragile. Palisades insisted on show-accuracy, so they didn't thicken up the limbs or antennae or anything for more durability. Zim's impossibly thin little arms actually have a teeny tiny swivel hinge. This led to easy breakages, especially with the hard plastic they were using. I have a pretty big Zim collection, and a good number of them are broken now even with gentle handling. Great looking line though.
