yeah that much is for sure. if this was my only chance to get these guys, i'd be flipping
what hurts is not that they're TERRIBLE by any means, but that I've been living with these good-but-could-be-better toys since the 90s, I've seen what good engineers can do to update them (Cheetor and Tigatron come to mind), and I just want that for everyone. But there's so many bad trends even going back there.

The og show's pretty great. Animation's on the cheaper side sure, but despite being a toddler show it really doesn't feel like it. The character writing is really great, they feel "real" the same way Animated and BW guys do; just that they happen to be doing rescue responses instead of fighting decepticons.
Heatwave in particular's a fave of mine; like I said last thread, the guy desperately needs to be put in a new show/comic that will just let the guy swear already, lmao.

Oh sure, I get that. Like I mean it's not as if you're OBLIGATED to watch the PBSKids-lookin' cartoon, you can just enjoy the designs and characters for what they are. And I also wasn't really sold on it til I gave it a fair shake myself, but it was only because like, I had a lot of free time and was binging the whole franchise? Wouldn't have known otherwise, lol.
I will say though that while I haven't watched it, RB Academy (the sequel series) is kinda what I initially thought the og show was gonna be like. Characters seem cute but basic, as does the writing. It feels more like a toddler show than og RB does. But yeah, just funny to me that I came away from RB thinking it had nicer character writing than even Cyberverse thinking about it, lol.

No but really why are her shoulder and bicep designed like that. This was a conscious design decision someone had to make to make them curve inwardly, resulting in even worse broader shoulders. Who's approving this shit.

Yknow, you pose an interesting point though. I'm actually a Bay+TFA kid, I didn't watch RB til just last year. I've seen other RB fans before, but they've all also been adults.
Mathematically, if the average viewer was like 5, then yeah they totally should be adults now, but I've never yet heard of or talked to a TF fan who... well, actually GREW UP with Rescue Bots yet. I wonder if we're soon gonna suddenly get a huge wave of people who were like "aw yeah I remember liking it as a bab", or if most of them were so young that the larger percentage barely remember it. Will definitely be interesting to see in the coming years, at least.

You're seeing it then, yeah. It kinda looks like this anon was right >>10643955 and the arms are sclupted in a permanent angled fashion in order to lay flush in jet mode. It also looks like the shoulders may not actually bend further to the body than what we've seen as a result.

again, look at SS86 ultra magnus. no one has ever wanted to replicate the 14 seconds of celluloid where he got drawn & quartered, yet the built the engineering into it to justify the price point (which is all titan means these days)
i've always felt commander size (think CW combiner) was more appropriate size (not class) for tidal wave. he was roughly equal to jet mode super convoy in the show to which they are attempting accuracy
remember, cybertron metroplex was roughly the same simplicity level as tidal wave and all they did was make him fuckhuge to the point of detriment. there was no budget for drillbit and they left out paint on the shoulder
with TW being a titan you can get him at the right size and keep all his dark fleet detachment/combination features, without having to sacrifice his little landing boat seats or raising hangar for ramjet (which they better include)

I've really enjoyed all the Kingdom Beast Wars remakes and I'll be happy to grab Tasmanian Kid, but just like with Dragon Megatron I fell like Tigerhawk misses the mark. I know the purple is from the Universe repaint but it doesn't look nearly as good as the metallic blue and translucent green of the original. IMHO the old sculpt looks better as well, from the claws to the head-sculpt and just like with TM2 the overall heft and dimensions just look better, the new fig is lankier and covered in busy greeble tech. Who knows maybe when Takara releases their repaints I'll change my mind but for now he's a skip.

It's clear that HasTak's being tentative on new Super Link and Beast Machines toys, since their only reps are one core mold each so far. During the stream though, one of the designers specifically called out "hey, if you guys like Super Link or Energon drop us a comment, and we might get to do more!", so he seems like someone who actually cares to make them, (esp since he actually cared to namedrop the Japanese name, meaning he likely knows its superiority over the crap dub), but needs to prove to the beancounters that "toys of the most hated TF shows would sell actually".
Personally I might pick up the core SL Galvatron if I see him on shelves; he's deffo cute and I love the design, plus he's Wave 1 so he likely won't sell out too quickly for me to snatch one (maybe even on a sale), I hope.

Was really hoping it'd be a little Armada Megatron in shriveled up husk form to go with a future leader or commander proper Energon Megs, woulda made a lot more sense than what they went with. So I would square off the helmet and have the top serve as the grill to a dunebuggy. Upon transformation the following things happen: The goglles split, flip outward to the sides, then fold forward to be headlights. The helmet lip covers her face.
The boobas open up and flip forward to cover her face, while the elreverse panel is the hood with a very small (purely cosmetic) windshield flap. The booba cavity serves as the cabin.
The arms straighten out to the sides, but the hands flip into the arms with the other side being an exhaust port.
Her inner thighs will open up and her legs will collapse inward like Legacy Blitzwings. Then the legs fold upwards and her feet become a spoiler.

Boom, dunebuggy. I shall name her Dirtbabe.

Just got this little dude in tue mail. Honestly 0retty impressed for how cheap he was. Has a better looking Tank mode than a lot of Megatrons in my opinion. The closer Megs is to an Abrams, the better, I say (t. G2fag) and I love that he has the G2 Decepticon logo as well. Shocking amount of articulation in both modes. Its hard to find a Tankformer whose turret can fully rotate *and* has gun elevation it seems.

He was also a big hit with my daughter, who took him from me as soon as I got him out of the packaging lol. Shes a decepticon in the making.

i like those guns, those suit him.
I think it helps that his 'body wings' common to springformers are not overly silly looking, being that they can fold into pretty clean flaps, and his pig head chest is exactly the right length and tapering to look cool.

Yes, the idea that all the women left and made a Paradise Island in space is pretty dumb. On the same token, having Cybertron all but bereft of females is equally stupid. Just have a healthy mix of both on Cybertron and all subsequent colony worlds, the Beast Wars planet didn't have any trouble with that, the speedia one neither.

The problem with Caminus is that it's boring. It doesn't have a gimmick.
Every other colony has something going on that makes it distinct but Caminus is just Cybertron 2.0.
It could have been interesting if they had focused on the religious fundie aspect, but IDW's ever brilliant writers decided that the super religious colony lead by a female pope is also totally enlightened and tolerant.

It'd be neat to play up the 'lost colony' angle by having the Camian civilization be so old it doesn't remember being a colony. Did they do that? I genuinely don't remember now. They could have their own creation myth tied up in their understanding of history blended with religion, only to have it challenged by discovering Cybertron and the other colonies.

The rubber piece is actually part of the shoulder swivel as well as there for tightness, it's actually really smartly designed for what it is. The rubber piece is a really tight fit but the mushroom peg the shoulder now swivels on is a semi-circle, so it's tight but there not enough surface contact with the plastic to cause too much friction that it could break.

Yeah I love to imagine that his IDW version had similar traits. In Marvel he was funny for being a villain who doesn't get any respect from his own comrades so he spergs out and does some crazy daring shit to prove himself. Can relate.

Guess his IDW version is more competent but just as fanatic since he was the leader of the anti-Wreckers and Impactor's personal nemesis. When Impactor eventually got his chance his hatred was intense enough to make him fuck himself over and commit a war crime just to execute Macabre. He was certainly strong and lucky to survive as long, but Tarn is a character with a very similar role and he's as insecure as he's insane, so I choose to imagine IDW Macabre as someone that has more or less kept his Marvel UK traits.

NTA but make sure to also look up the tank turret mod on youtube, anon! If you don't know there's a gate inside that prevents it from spinning 360 (likely to not let you give him gun-dick, dumb excuse). Luckily you need no kit, just unscrew it and clip the gate out lol.
I don't have the shoulder kit but fixing the turret alone improved my fun with the toy tenfold, lmao.

These three just showed up. Haven't really fiddled around with them too much, but both Dreadwing and Bludgeon are molds I've already reviewed, so no need to go into a full description. Shadow Striker is wholly new, though, and I'm liking her more than I thought I would.
Some quick notes on each:
I like Dreadwing's color scheme a lot better than Skyquake's - the blue, red and gold looks SO much better than the latter's drab green and silver. Dreadwing's canopy is painted with a pearlescent silver sheen, too, which is cool. I think there may have been a running change in the mold - it seems his nosecone actually closes up properly this time, though it's a bit of a tight squeeze. Physically, he's 100% identical to Skyquake except for a slightly retooled gun that is now a cannon instead of a chaingun.
Bludgeon is better than I thought he would be, but I've never owned any previous incarnation of the character to compare him to. While he does look a little awkward standing normally, I find that he looks far better in action poses, like TM2 Megatron; he can make use of Tarn's bendy shoulders and opening hands for some cool shots. I'm happy my SS36 AOE Drift can now have an evil samurai rival to cross blades with.

Shadow Striker, again, is the only actually new mold for me here, and she's pretty fun. Her transformation is simple-but-not-too-much, where her arms dislocate from her back and pop up behind her and her legs swing underneath to form the bottom of the car, leaving her chest to become the hood; I've intentionally left the chest mistransformed here in an attempt to make her look a bit less masculine (being a pancake is off-model for her anyway - both of her previous toys have some small clevage).
She does have some partsforming, though - and surprisingly, it's not the hood of the car that makes up her shield (that CAN detach, but it's also designed so that she can transform without you ever touching it). Instead, the back bumper of her alt mode has to come off so her wheels can swing around in robot mode; the bumper attaches with a 5mm peg and can be mounted to a number of places (the instructions say to put it on the muzzle of her gun, which looks utterly ridiculous). I've chosen to put it on her right forearm, where - while still useless - it's out of the way and doesn't look to obtrusive.
They're a fun bunch, even if two of them are more or less 'repeats'. I am curious, though - how are other people's Dreadwings? Did I just get lucky (as often seems to be the case), or did they actually fix the mold?

Headmasters were fun for their pilot gimmick and robot integration but I see the arguments to the detractions. Would be cool if we could get another pilot focused gimmick but have it be non-esential, like headmasters forming spark cores instead, or the God/PowerMaster engines. Regular transformers like Windblade becoming headmasters was silly, but I do like the idea of Titan Masters filling in for other, less practical gimmicks like Powermasters and Pretenders.
I wish Hasbro had salvaged the botcon 2017 plans for an Action Master themed Titans Return boxed set. Action on Hydrus 4 could have been amazing, especially if it wasn't just a botcon exclusive. That and the Pretender Titan Masters.

but consider me this: what if some really dumb cybertronians tried to mimic the 'dominant lifeform' of the planet and managed to mimic statues without understanding that they are statues. so you get like gargoyles, you get chinesey statues, you get lion statues outside libraries, you get kitschy renaissance festival sculptures...

anyway if the motorcycle had like, two big cylindrical flintstones wheels, sure. like a steamroller-cycle.. actually it'd look not unlike the The Dark Knight cycle.

Welp it's my turn to be impressed I guess, finished ep 19 and the plot was one of the main characters gets accepted for a well-renowned university and has to decide whether to stay or leave his family, etc... Story you've prolly seen in tons of shows, except this one actually ended with him staying. Instead of being a lesson about "not letting big opportunities pass you by" or whatever like these always are, the moral turned out to be "proper experience will always be more valuable than sterile research", which, yeah I've no idea if I've ever seen a show take that approach, let alone a little kids' one, lol.

on the other hand it would be funny if the altmode was an immobile sculpted image of a human/angel/whatever and it just split and broke into pieces to unfold into a robot, completely ignoring the actual lines of the lifeform being sculpted.

So today my little G2 Megs arrived and my Snapdragon, and on the way home I picked up Legacy Galvatron.

Love the tiny G2 megs. Just a surprisingly poseable and fun to transform little dude.

Galvatron is really really cool. Now my only other Galvatron experience is a busted uo G1 I traded a kid for on the playground in like 98, but I find his transformation simple, clever, and fun. He doesn't get into cannon shape by merely laying down anymore. I do wish thst his legs did something more interesting, and I find his ship guns to be weird, but thats my only complaint.

Snapdragon feels somewhat out of place in the group, his articulation seems to be the most limited in all modes. Even still, I love him and I'm happy Blitzwing will have a friend to triple change with.

In other news, my WFC Netflix Megatron sold already, so I'm still effectivdly cycling Transformers. I swear I'll have an autobot eventually.
