Simple videogame styles fit really well with Lego, like Sonic and Minecraft. Megaman would be great. I'd love to see Dragon Quest 3, Final Fantasy 9, Kingdom Hearts, and Kirby, Little Big Planet, Spyro, Banjo Kazooie, Bomberman etc

Zelda, but on the condition that the sets have play features that at least reference puzzles and challenges present in the games. It wouldn't even have to be dungeon-specific stuff. A Lon-Lon ranch horse racing track would be a good example.

Lego Island 1. We only ever got 3 Lego Island 1 characters but from extreme stunts. So many unique faces of all the main characters were never made. Imagine a playset of the underground racetrack with a massive skeleton, info and pirate cave

My guess: they were contractually obligated to make the set and knew the movie was going to be a flop so they decided to price it up in order to make as much money from the few guaranteed sales (Marvel completionists and people buying it to "own the chuds") as possible.

Summer 2024...trust the plan bro.

This Bowser set was made with minifigs releasing in the summer in mind. Think about it, it will still be available on shwlves in 2025 with minifig sets and it blends well.

That's what I reckon, with the old sets being discontinued and new Mario sets retreading old ground. I'm a hardcore Mariofag, I enjoyed Wonder, and I refuse to buy Course Builder sets.

Lego breaks down smaller than built. Get a plastic bin and start bagging up stuff you're not displaying and save the instructions. Then when you feel nostalgic rebuild it and you'll get the feels all over again. I try to rotate thru built sets every few months and breakdown ones I had displayed.

I always thought those guys were running around in their underwear as a kid but even then they were the coolest of the jelly bean factions. Don't buy Lego new, and dedicate space to custom builds instead of sets. The amount of Lego you can buy on FB marketplace for $20 is fucking insane, and building custom stuff slows you down and to me at least is the point of lego anyways.

I actually have two of these. One from christmas, one from a garage sale in the early 00s. One of my favorite sets as a kid, and the box of the Christmas one holds all my magazines and instructions from the late 90s. Sadly I never got the other baseplate sets, the Sphinx and the Orient one. Both are far beyond what i'd consider acceptable in price for a used set now.

Honestly I think Lego should do more movie type themes. One-offs. I’d die for a princess bride set. The cheap set would just be a stump and some plants and two glasses both filled with poison. The one guy would have two faces, his “INCONCEIVABLE” face and a dead face after he gets poisoned. Plus I’d love a Montoya figure and Andre the giant figure.

I really couldn't get into the giant castle they made, ideas blacksmith or the new spaceship. I'm probably not going to like the market either. They're just too and detailed or massive or something. It seems like the opposite of the 90's designs. But I really liked the lego movie Benny spaceship stuff and GWPs (except Majisto) but I hate buying GWPs because it feels so scummy. And the movies were forever ago.

But if it was like >>10735227 and Rock Raiders to Power Miners or somethingit doesn't make me compare the new and old sets so much. Its kind of like how I feel about remakes and reboots of anything.

Also my favourite space is Ice Planet 2002 and they killed transparent neon orange. Ice Planet with no neon orange would be fucked up

I always felt that besides set 375, early castle relied on too many panels. I’m sure it was to keep the price down but I just never liked them. Anyway just build castle if you want castle. I only had to brick link the red doors on this. The rest, I had on hand.

The opposite. Marketing knew the movie would perform poorly, so they set the MSRP to make as much back from the people that *have* to buy it. Anyone engaging in a real rational decision-making process has already skipped it as an option; price is irrelevant, there is no sale. If it was more generically desired they could behave knowing more people would occupy that pre-decision demographic where price point actually matters. tldr slop eaters eat slop, everyone else avoids, priced accordingly.

And stop at what number of studs? I started with the decision to have the too step 6 studs wide because it matches the width of the doors. If I did your suggestion I guess it would go all the way to 9 studs wide or be 6 studs on the 6th through 9th steps.

Go from 2 to 10, I don't feel like it needs to match the door width. Maybe push the walls and door back a few studs to have some floor space and a railing. Otherwise the second version looks best imo

I might be wrong, but I think a glowie ghost is the most common one that's constantly included in spooky-themed sets and polybags. The last set I remember having a lot of them was Monkie Kid Bone Demon.

Man look at those brick baseplates, I remember when Lego was pushing those things so hard in the early 2000s, they're so ugly now. Honestly I always felt this theme was a major step down from the previous castle themes, it was that era where Lego seemed to simplify a lot of stuff and make bigger specialized pieces that didn't really fit in with the others. The color scheme looks pretty bad too.

Yeah it has a bunch of pieces for King Leo's Castle and Royal Joust. This is a good overview of the whole thing - $15 total. The wood tray and bucket are all specials, and there's a solid cup of figs. This was a week ago so most of it is already sorted away. I'm a moc chad so only tiny things like 7409 Secret of the Tomb are going to get resurrected. The rest will either turn into a real boy, get distributed to friends, or evaporate slowly through bricklink.

Opportunism and luck. My area is historically pretty wealthy, there's a strong flea market culture, and the population has aged up significantly so there are lots of people pulling out their now-adult child's, dead husband's etc. lego bins from the attic and listing them for spitball prices. That's the luck. The opportunism is always keeping a lookout esp. irl, getting in first on listings, lowballing like a fucking savage if you smell normie blood, having 10/10 communication, and showing up on time. The biggest tip for getting things at good prices is DON'T FUCKING BUY EVERYTHING. If you want it reeeeally bad, but it's not at a cosmically low price, be an adult and restrain yourself. I offer on dozens and dozens of things every week, but I only actually buy something once every couple months. If I was compelled to buy most everything I saw, I'd be spending $100, $200 per bin, not $20.

I live in a small country and small city so my only chance really is at online markets. Once found 35 of those old round trees and 45 of the bigger "pine" tree that Lego still makes in smaller size. Only for 10€.

I quite like it but I'm not a trainfag. If I get this it'll be my first lego train. I don't mind too much that it's not motorized as I don't have the space for a full track layout, but it is nice that it fits on standard tracks so in the future, once fans have motorized it themselves, I do have the option to start lego trainfagging.

I like the brick baseplates, along with the old 10x20 ones from the 70s. They don't look good on their own but with a few small green bricks and plates you can integrate them into a landscape for terrain that isn't flat.

it's a drill vehicle from a 2012 City set "The Mine." I found it with rebrickable by looking up what sets the more unique pieces showed up in and setting the filter to all the city subthemes. The one that did it was the fuckin red axle connector of all things. Some pieces on yours got mocced around and you're missing one or more stickers but this is what your son is supposed to look like.
