>>10766964The phallic symbolism of dreams was also a two-parter as I understand it.
Penis attributes:
>elongated>inserts/pierces into something>tapered/sharpened end>ejects/shoots/emits something from itBy those descriptors guns, traditional pencils, lightbulbs, piercing jewelry, fire-hydrants, and numerous mundane things can be viewed (in dreams) as penis symbols.
Consequentially…
Vagina attributes:
>hollow>recessed space>covers/wraps around something>things are inserted into itIn this case, footwear, any piece of clothing, hats, cars, luggage, shopping bags, jewelry rings, and plenty other innocuous things are pussy-symbols (in dreams).
Setting aside the arbitrary thinking of things representing genitalia, the crazy part is how much normal people buy into that symbolism by applying it to real-life. Most people who aren’t fond of firearms like to say that firearm owners (especially ones who own more than a couple individual guns) are compensating for a small dick. But you could also use the same (false) logic to say that women who have tons of shoes are insecure with how loose and cavernous their vagina is (which could say a thing or two about sneaker-collectors…).
I like Freud’s stuff and the other outdated ways of thinking such as the four humors, phrenology, miasma-theory of illness, horoscopes, etc. as devices in fictional settings where you can make them actually work.
