Told myself I wouldn't buy any Lego this year but fuck it, it was discounted so I just impulse bought it. I know I'm gonna get Eldorado when it's a bit cheaper so combining the two with some mods will hopefully fulfill my pirate itch entirely.

I'll never forgive myself for passing on Barracuda Bay until it was too late so I'm telling myself this is to make up for it.

Seem fine for what they are. Imaginative.: Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they were just resurrected cancelled sets from hidden side, which I liked.

Is a mess. A huge miss. I love colorful sets but they seem to have intentionally chosen clashing colors as a joke.
>characters
The protagonists are the weakest point of the theme. They repulse me. Fortunately the main villains make up for it. Especially the dude in that wide brim hat. Also the little dream gremlins or whatever they are? Those are gross. I feel like I’m going to see those resold in mass for 50 cents on bricklink for the next 20 years.

I'll repeat what I already said a few threads ago.
Elves is what is missing in DREAMZzz. Too much is focused on vehicles and too little on the enviroment. I would like to see more sets like Dream Village and Stable of Dream Creatures in the next waves. I also think Lego should stop forcing themes into this big bang category and instead do shorter thmes again which go on for just one or two waves like in the past.

Outside of that though I still look at Lego sets as if I'm still a child. You can call me a consoomer drone but I don't go into details why something is great or sucks. If I like it thats all that matters to me.

Friendly reminder that sets can be modded and recolored to make them into whatever you feel should be instead of what the designers intended. Lego is an open system, use it as such and have fun!

Everybody knows how kids play with their Lego: drop everything from the box on the carpet and assemble it however they please.

Problems arise when it's time to end the play, and gather the bricks back to the box. So I came up with an idea:

Lego blanket! A thin, but sturdy blanket (about square meter) you put on the carpet and THEN bricks on it. It has 4 loops, one at each corner , when you end play you just pull the loops and everything gathers on the middle. You can put the whole thing in the box OR

It has a zipper right in the middle you can "pour" the bricks back into the box. The zipper might be I or U shaped. What's better?
What do you think about my idea? Is it original, or someone else came up with it before me?

In my country (Australia) it was heavily discounted, by USD70/AUD100 (sold out very quickly) and then later at about USD35/AUD50 off.

But we have a weird setup where physical lego stores are "official", but not run by TLG like SAH. So you may be out of luck. Have hope though.

To be honest you probably could narrow down the color palette down a lot
>Primary/Secondary colors (Red orange yellow green blue and purple)
>Tertiary colors (Yellow orange, Lime green, turquoise)
>Grayscale (Black, white, dark and light gray)
>Tints (Pink, light blue)
>Shades (Dark red, dark green, dark blue)
>Nature colors (Brown, tan, medium flesh, olive green)
>Metallics (Pearl gold, flat silver)
>Transparents (Trans clear/black/red/orange/yellow/green/blue/purple)
>Glow in the dark
That's 33 colors total, and if you're really anal you can cut the tertiary colors and go down to 30 colors total. At the very least you should have COLOR and DARK COLOR in the palette.

I actually have most of the good OG Ninjago sets from the Pilot line, but I didn't really have anything else beyond that until recently. I was secretly hoping when Ninjago was brand new that it'd transition into more traditional Ninja (theme) stuff eventually, but it never did. Wasn't too big on Chima or Galaxy Squad, but sad I missed out on Monster Fighters because I wanted the Ghost Train since it reminds me of this set I had as a kid.

dreamzzz failed because it's too bizarre and confusing, no parent will buy that over something familiar like a police car or a submarine or a space rocket. the pink alone is enough to alienate most people

the only way for dreamzzz sets to have succeeded would be if the brand had become something that kids got really into and therefore would specifically ask their parents for it which is something that would have only happened if the tv show was a hit.

I really want to like this set since I think a salvage vessel is a really cool idea but, I think the fact that you don't get to build the hull is a huge missed opportunity. It's such a big piece that it just looks wrong not being made of bricks.

I would always try to moc this as a really little kid. I was obsessed with the old underwater sets. Aquaraiders 2 came out when I was getting to be "too old" for Lego and I remember getting way into it again and buying as many of those sets as I could reasonably afford while my parents were side eyeing me. Little did they know how much of a toy fag I would become. When I moved out I bought Aquabase Invasion sealed off eBay. Maybe someday I'll buy myself this set too.

Jang is part of the future race that South Park warned us about from letting too many immigrants into our white countries. Reminder that ninjago is THE lego theme
It took what worked before: stupidly overcomplicated lore and mysticism from bionicle, the more permanent cast of characters with simple personalities and traits from hero factory, and builds mixing over the top vehnicles/mechs with simple buildings and structures, along the universally loved theme of ninjas. Also the short films/ movies from bionicle and hero factory being converted into a show also helped.
That's why bionicle g2 failed: you can't bring back something that has alredy been replaced

I also got some instructions for other Race sets (6602 and 6519), a bunch of Freestyle Parts, and a few parts from the Gungan sub (Mostly the canopy pieces, but only like 10% of the thing). I think the only sets that are actually 100% complete though are the Sonic Cycle, the Xalax racers, and the Blok Bots. The Barracuda and Castle are missing minifigs (No sign of Redbeard or the monkey, and I found the skirt and headdress of Queen Leonora but not the head and torso), and I have a hunch I'm missing a bunch of parts like the projectile launcher from the castle, but on the upside the sails are still factory sealed and I found most of the rigging. Overall pretty good haul.

A few years ago I saw Jang in the Lego section of the Target in East Bay. I was picking up a new Friends set for my niece's birthday. She is really into Lego and actually watches Jang. So I approached him and told him how great it was to see him actually out shopping for Lego and asked if he wouldn't mind signing the box of the Friends for my niece and he said "Look, I don't give a fuck about you or your niece. Please get away from me nigger." I was really taken aback, but I managed to apologize for bothering him and hurried away to check out and go home. It's probably because I have the original Eldorado fort but I have no desire to buy the remake aside from that ship. Everybody always seems to want huge ships like the Imperial flagship but they scale so poorly to the buildings unless you're willing to spend several thousand dollars to create a gigantic MOC. It's the same issue I have with the recent blacksmith's house. Yeah, it looks good by itself but the house is comically huge. It's as big as the classic castles like black knights castle and only a little smaller than the lion knights castle.

I would fucking love it if Lego remade all their older ships like skull's eye schooner or the armada in a similarly small scale that fit about 4-6 minifigs max. They'd probably sell pretty well if priced only $20-30.

I like the ship but even that one is pushing the boundaries a bit in how well it scales well with something like the eldorado fort, though it does scale nicely with a larger set like the barracauda bay. These are supposed to be 16th-17th century-era single or double-deck ships, not triple or quadruple-deck behemoths like the HMS Victory.

When I have the time I'm gonna take away bits of the Eldorado fortress, try to shrink the Creator ship and use the combined pieces I removed to hopefully create a little pirate island
