Does anyone know where I can buy gashapon toys between 0.01¢ and $1.50 USD? Everything seems like it’s $5 and above

Not on the us, but I've not seen any gashapon for 100yen in like, 3 years. Even 200 yen ones are a rarity my friend.

To be they've become less accessible, what with Bandai denying the sales of certain toys overseas. There are other ways to get them, but I don't want to overpay for what amounts to a fun desk toy and not much more. I'd rather have a single really good pricey figure than a few alright little ones for even more. Not allowing the sales of the articulated Kinnikuman gacha annoyed me a great deal in particular. Otherwise there just hasn't been much that kept my attention gacha-wise.

It's nice seeing some of these weapons getting reused, but I prefer the more traditional standard looking stuff. Feels more "fun adventure" and less "endgame powerfantasy" when the gear is toned down.

I'm assuming this is another one of those "Online Exclusive" waves or something, seeing as it features the main duo with slight changes again.

I have a big inquiry:
So, back in october I worked at one of the biggest conventions in my country, heavily sponsored by Bandai. Logically there was a Gashapon section with a decent amount of machines, wich were token-operated. I wanted to try them since the advertisements around the section made it seem very decently priced. I take my break, quickly pick some machines and do the line to buy tokens; low and behold, what was advertised as a great promotion could barely afford you a single use of very few low-demand machines.It was around 6 dollars for 5 tokens, and to my luck I was able to use one of the machines I wanted ONLY because I found an additional token on the floor (6 tokens would translate to around 7 dollars).

Picrel is the toy I got, and after doing some research I quickly found out that it is from a 400yen series. Less than 3 bucks. I know cons are expensive and the prospect of something from Japan doubling in price when brought to a less conventional country isn't that outlandish, but what itches me was that it was a tactic done by the official retailer with pretty scummy advertising to top. But that one lucky token that I didn't buy gave me an idea, wich now seems more plausible since I secured work in the next edition of that con in a few months.

So what I'm trying to find out now is how realistic is it for one to use third-party tokens on the Bandai machines; There are some testimonies out there of people who have used Amuse brand tokens on some of the retail Gasha machines, but I want to be sure that it would work on the full sized machines with multiple slots (I don't know how differently they work). That should be the hardest part; not getting caught is as easy as acting like a normal customer during peak con hours, buying some overpriced tokens and discreetly getting my money's worth in pulls.

As for why I want to do it, guess I just really want bang for my buck, and some revenge on a corporation. Also, just for the thrill of the move.

I think you may have been a bit unlucky. Sure they're not super stable, but they aren't floppy and bad. However, I don't think they fall into the "Fully poseable action figure" category though.

While the girl and monster guy in that picture are pretty solid, the elf lady in the armour, her shoulder joint splits in half at the slightest attempt at movement.

Also, a tip I grabbed off of a guy on twitter, if you want extra stability, grab some teeny tiny magnets and slap them in their feet.

The girl has 2mm neodynaminunununun (?) and the elf has a 3mm, in one foot and 2mm in the other. The 3 is super strong, but requires a bit of scraping, whereas the 2mm just needs a bit of glue to secure.
2mm Diameter and 1mm thick. I've found the 3mm is too strong, and a single 2mm too weak, but a 2mm in both feet does the trick nicely

I ordered the set recommended here, >>10810925 and they came in today. They’re honestly so cute and I love them. They’re really the only option for a realistic articulated axolotl. Don’t really care about the giant salamander ones, but they’re cute too I guess. Overall really happy with them.

Eh, I'm not a clever modder guy by any means, but for the Gashapon quest folks, I just used a philips head screw deriver that had the mm I needed. The feet are soft ish plastic so it was easy just to drill out the teeny tiny amount I needed.
FOr a figuarts, or something with a better quality plastic, I'd have no idea. DESU. Sorry.
