anyone still have these old gundam figs? is the soft plastic gonna rot and get sticky? i want a couple cause i lost mine years ago

I have a bunch in a shoebox from back in the day and they're mostly okay except the ring from my hyper mode burning gundam is oxidized quite bad and the metallic surface has large splotchy patches of exposed clear plastic.

Man, the MSiA roster for G Gundam was wild. They even did the butler-GM for Rose Gundam at one point.

are they holding up well? any stickiness? i have to put some older toys in the freezer and wash them well periodically because of it. i guess the joints are a little loose now

I've got many from my childhood. It's been a couple years since I handled them, but around two years ago there was no stickiness on them, and they'd been boxed up in storage for probably 10 years at that point.

I've had mine in storage in ziplock bags for years. Bought them all at retail stores on release. Other than the bent beam blades, I don't have any issues or stickyness. Tehy get fressh air about 7-10 years.

my parents divorced when I was in college and my old toys got stuffed in boxes and put in the upstairs attic and lived there in the hot, humid south eastern USA for 8yrs before I retrieved them.

And i hope you put them in a sealed bag, because the freezer actually dries it out, but by doing so, you're just circulating all those plasticizers around all the other shit in your freezer.

Better just to put them in front of a fan, pointing out a opened window and then wash them

because after trying various methods like drying them out, putting them in the fridge, brushing with dishsoap and isopropyl alcohol and others i saw that putting them in the freezer solved the stickiness for some months (the plastic's already old enough to rot so it's not a permanent solution)
of course i isolate them from the food by putting them in a plastic bag first

The actual body parts will be fine, but lately the joints have been cracking on mine. It could probably be fixed with a pin vise and some replacement joints, though.

I had a bunch of the Gundam wing ones my mom bought me when I was a kid. they didn't quite compare to my painted 1/100 scale kits though. sticky and mushy plastic.

Wasn't this the only way to get the Zaku II in the U.S.? It always irked me that *the* grunt suit was in a higher price range than the carded stuff.

Other than that, I have fond memories of tracking down the variant Leos from Wing and the four generals from G. This was a very cool toy line when it came out.
