PS, Japan in general has a mold problem. If you've ever bought used or vintage books from Japan, it's common to see it. Some used bookstores try to clean it off (anything real bad is rejected), but it's common to see if you buy it from a private collection.
It's not as bad as it used to be though, since a lot of new homes have AC now, but even then, central AC isn't a big thing over there, so some rooms can be pretty shit with humidity.
