What would you anons want to see as a thematic in a Ninjago wave??
For me personally a kaiju wave would great. No human/humanoid enemies in minifig form, every enemy is a brickbuilt kaiju monster.

People who complain about the lack of raised baseplate make me cringe

- you can actually pose figures on the ramp, the original might as well be a slide
- modular nature allows you to configure it in many ways that look great and provide better access for play
- has a tall dock that accommodates large ships(barracuda, creator 3 in 1, etc)
- way more room for secrets and extra interior spaces
- for modding you have more pieces and aren't limited to the baseplate shape
- set actually has weight to it, it's not something flimsy and easy to damage

Personally no but I don't know if it's popular opinion or not. It needed a colour to pop, like compare it to Exploriens which is similar but has transblue canopies, some trans red and neon green accents and it looks so much better. It's too close to nasa. Friends space has some purple canopies at least, and the Dreamzzz set is partly a yellow cab so they look a lot bettee to me. I think this is our 3rd or 4th set with nasa ish colors too.

If Ninjago goes away, there won't automatically be new original themes to fill its place. It doesn't work like that. I don't even like Ninjago but I'm thankful it still exists, it's like the last bastion of original action themes.
Plus it's many subthemes allowed us to get sets that Lego would NEVER have made otherwise, like the DnD inspired sets. They also had an underwater subtheme reminiscent of Atlantis, they had a cyber video game world subtheme, etc.

When Ninjago goes away, they’ll cycle through more 3 year themes. The few big Ninjago City sets are about the only memorable thing that line has done. Otherwise they are recycling sets and seasons and ideas because it is a tired old theme well past its prime.

I'm trying to find this Lego stop motion I saw on Youtube over a decade ago. It was about three(?) wounded clones who got patched up and put into service by the Empire.
They become conflicted, and in the end choose not to save the Death Star from being blown up by not repairing its deflector shield or something.

Does Lego still release sets with the classic minifig face? I think there's a certain charm in two medieval armies meeting for battle, or a group of men doing dangerous work undersea/on a distant planet, and they've all got a blank smile on their faces

Disassembling and trying to rebuild Galaxy Explorer made me completely lost interest in lego. Absolute chore to part out, even bigger chore to build again from over 1000 pieces. Of course you can spend hours to segregated the pieces, but it's the worst chore of them all.
Modern lego sets become too big I will never buy one again.

If this is the route they continue go, it’d be a real bummer. 3 in 1 was my favorite theme cause it was a nice way for Lego to get in a couple space, pirate, castle, and vikings sets at retail without having to commit to an entire theme. I like brick-built animals, the dragon is cute and the giraffe looks amazing, but object builds have no place in 3 in 1. Those are clearly meant for the adult audience. What kid is going to have fun playing with one roller skate, a brick-built camera, and a ukelele? The shelf decoration object-build stuff needs to be restricted to black boxes and not take up spaces that could go to vehicles, animals, or minifig-scale builds.

I love it. One thing I dislike about Pirate 3 in 1 is how the hull construction is way too complex with tiny pieces making it too much of a chore to take apart for mocs and alt builds. The castle has a more simplistic build with lots of samey pieces so it's much more efficient and satisfying to take apart and create new shit

That’s the one. It doesn’t surprise me that you don’t care for it. Because on its own it is forgettable, but for the theme? It is very well executed. Generic castle for the generic human faction. Them being the “Everyman” introduction to the more interesting world. Four distinct factions, each with its own sizable bases, and transports. Which is sadly a rare thing for lego. that's not an issue with the 3 in 1 castle at all, they don't even "hide" pieces in the main set for the alt builds like they usually do.
While you usually have 3 models representing completely different things (like a pirate ship, an inn and a skull island) all 3 castle builds are not as fundamentally different and share a lot of the core build as they are all just medieval structures. You can instantly spot the commonalities: where as for example in the pirate set the white pieces can be either sails or structural walls or a skull cavern, in the castle the greys are always for the same kind of tower, the dark blues are always for the same kind of roofs, the yellows are always for the same kind of wooden building...

might seem boring on paper but this set is god sent for MOC-making, a great value part pack if you will

I got one of the Lego Indiana Jones sets. Mainly because not only is it Indiana Fucking Jones but also because it's the closest we'll ever have to WW2 Model plan sets officially affiliated with Lego. The fact it has an actual Nazi pilot with a historically accurate outfit adds a "special spice" to it.
Now I wanna get the other ones. Currently saving up for Temple Of The Golden Idol and Escape From The Lost Tomb sets.
Apperantley there was supposed to be a Temple Of Doom set as well but it was delayed. If that ever comes out I'm probably also gonna get that.
I don't think it crosses some people's minds very often but Affordable Lego Indiana Jones sets are a once in a life time opportunity and I don't wanna squander it any longer.

I am currently saving up for the Lego Indiana Jones sets. Especially pic related. I saw a review vid for it and I was automatically sold. Like its a temple with plenty of unique play features and it lights up and shit, I think it's the coolest fucking Lego set in existence ever. Everyone hates facades structures with exposed backs but understandably it's hard to justify the cost extra brick built walls would add to standard sets but in the age of snot for anything and everything why not use simple large plate tiles vertically as cheap, space-saving paneling?

I hope you're aware that raised baseplates are insanely expensive for what they are(moreso than lots and lots of small generic grey pieces) and if you adjust to inflation the original $66 set from 1989 it would be a bit over $160 today. Add to it a $25ish dollar ship which the original set didn't have at all and you get around $190.
If you really don't see how the new set can possibly have at very least $25 worth of added value my god are you delusional

the bottom has a QR code, if it is a big one, you can use a qr scan app and it will spit out a number that can be compared to a list of R (mexico made) or S (europe made), just look up series 25 qr code, its everywhere.
Unfortunately, my local places only had the shitty small qr, so it was a crapshoot, unless you bring a scale to the isle and weigh them out, the knights and the goats are in the 19-20 gram realm (box and glue is variable) the train kid is 21 grams so steer clear unless you want a bunch, and the warrior girl is the lightest at like 16 grams, anything imbetween is a tad more difficult.
Also, if you find a decent spread of them unaltered, the codes on the bottom can match duplicates, but can be hard when picked over, kinda need fresh box batches for it to work that way.

As someone who recently started trying to get back into Lego I must say I'm super disappointed with the current design philosophy. It's just so fucking daunting how needlessly complex everything needs to be, just the thought of taking a big set apart to modify it puts me off and feels like a giant waste of time, it's like they wanna force you to keep the sets built because even if you wanted to create something else it's so hard because most pieces(and their colors)are so specialized for that specific build.

I haven't given up on Lego but I won't be purchasing a set again, I'll just set a limited color scheme and order lots and lots of general use pieces and stick to my own rudimentary simplistic creations, otherwise it's too overwhelming and too much of an hassle.

Call me a nostalgiafag or not a good builder or whatever, I don't care.

Ever heard the saying less is more?
Sure, modern Lego can capture every last detail down to a tiger's butthole. But if you actually want to make your own stuff that fits in with modern Lego, that's not going to be easy with a million different specialized slope pieces for your gray Starshit vehicle. That's not even to get into the amount of color vomit they use for the structures of new sets because the le quirky non-Lego fan adults who buy the 18+ shit can't even assemble Ikea furniture without instructions. Your mileage with a single modern set is very limited.
Old sets though? They have simpler parts, sure. But there's a million different things you can build without it looking ugly relative to the base models of any given set. Hell, they ENCOURAGED you to take them apart and make your own stuff.
So fuck off with your simplification.

To add onto this, I know a lot of people blame licenses for Lego's creative decline over the years. While yes, new licenses have ate up slots for original themes, the early licensed sets had the same creativity and "soul" if you will as the non-licensed themes surrounding them. The set could depict the scenes from the film, or be used to make your own creations with them.

It's the messines and lumpyness. Sometimes using a single brick is better than using many.

At-st's have curvy feet, lego decided the best way is to make them a layered mess to get some of that curve, yet just solid brick would had looked better.

Bionicle is the best Lego theme to ever exist
80s and 90s are best time period for System, though 2000-roughly 2012 still had a fair amount of somewhat good stuff. In recent years most sets are pure trash but there are exceptions:

>many of the new City, Space, and Stuntz sets are pretty good, and Stuntz is soulful and the concept if redone with old colors bricks etc would fit in with 90s-very early 00s Lego quite well, Rocket Racer stunt bike is perhaps the best post-2005 set that exists

Legitimate question, what is with their boner for this ass leg design? It's not that fucking difficult to make articulated legs, even the AT-ST type. And it sure as shit isn't appearance over function, because they're at this awkward standing-only 90 degree angle which conveys zero possibility of dynamic motion while also simultaneously being the one part of the set that conspicuosly isn't made out of greebleshit and slopes and wedges.
I mean they've shat out like 10 AT-ST sets (or AT-ST equivalent) by now and I could swear that most of them use this exact same design.
