Thanks. Made it small though so it wouldn’t be ACTUAL minifig scale. The NGAD irl at 1:45 (minifig scale) would be enormous. Over a foot and some change probably in width.

I feel like the only true evergreen sets are generic, as licensed products are essentially advertisements and are predicated on new products and media of the IP being released.
Kids are always into the hot new thing, and that goes for most toys I've seen aside from like slinkys and putty.

the jurassic world trilogy concluded and though executives will eventually try to milk the property again there's nothing on the horizon yet. due to lack of new media they started covering the OG movie stuff everyone loves and now that's done I don't know if Jurassic Park 2 and 3 have a strong enough pull to have sets made about them.

I saw this Lego Indiana Jones set at the Lego store and I bought it.
I did it because I wanted it and now it's mine.
Thinking about maybe keeping it as an investment of some sort but realistically I'll just open it and build it the moment I get home.

I hope we get more Indiana Jones sets. I hope it's needlessly prolonged like Jurassic Park is. Having only three sets feels like it's doing the franchise a disservice.
In fact I am surprised there wasn't a set based off Dial Of Destiny. You'd think Disney would want to egg Lego to make a Dial Of Destiny set to promote the new movie but I guess not
Apparently there was supposed to be a temple of doom set but it was cancelled or delayed. Hopefully that gets a release soon because Temple Of Doom is a bizarre omission for a Lego set

How is it bizarre? Temple of Doom is beyond racist by modern standards. Even Steven Spielberg has disavowed the movie.

Besides the new indy was a flop so there's no great financial incentive to keep it going(unlike let's say harry potter or city police because despite controversies the money they pull speaks louder)

Finally done with this project because of shitty Bricklink seller and their slow as molassas shipping. Feels Goodman. Ice Planet was my favorite theme as a kid, so this hits me right in the nostalgia. I'll probably grab a few more of the City Space sets and convert them to old school Space factions like M Tron, Blacktron, and Space Police.

This just shows me that the designs for the 2024 sets are solid, but the boring and drab color scheme drags it way down.

I see what you mean. It's probably the big white block under the vehicle. That's there because the buggy doubles as a backpack for the mech, and that piece is a connection point. I may switch it to blue though. Good advice.

I honestly might, since tri-fighters and vulture droids are the only separatist droid I dont have.
Kinda wish there was a youtuber that reviews and compares them like that one guy usually does for star wars sets, but I guess since they usually come as a side build to some jedi or clone fighter nobody really cares

They've certainly stepped up their game with them this year. The spaceship set is cheap and a decent playset and the Jurassic World one isn't priced too badly given it comes with 5 dinosaurs, 4 of which are new colours/prints.
In 2022 every 4+ set's pricing felt like an insult by comparison.

I have this one as well, and it's... fine, for its size. I prefer the other one though just for being a more unique build, as well as since it fits the minifig a lot more snugly, so it looks more like his head is the mech's head. The new villains feel kind of lame, though, but the snakes from that wave weren't much to write home about either.

I'm not too huge on the original fright knight sets, which is part of why i wanted to do this. Their aesthetic is great, but the builds are a bit too simple and the aftermarket stuff too expensive. This is not a mounted archer. He has a helmet with full visor (detrimental to aiming); full plate (detrimental to handling a crossbow); no quiver so no reloads; is specifically depicted with sword and shield while on horseback with the crossbow as a secondary weapon alongside his lance. The presence of a second sword indicates this is more of a weapons pack with knight and horse as a bonus.

There are no mounted archers in the Castle theme because mounted archers were not a thing in western medieval warfare. Whenever they were present on the battlefield they were mercenaries from the east where mounted archers were a way of life for many. Archers would often ride to battle but would always dismount and fight on foot, as the size of longbows and the reloading process for most crossbows made being on horseback a detriment at best, a liability at worst.

It has nice components to it, but overall, this is a rather bland looking castle. The entrance is neat with the walkway up to a drawbridge, but there is very little unique shaping or colours. It feels like it's a bunch of grey rectangles stacked together and the tudor part of the build looks like an afterthought plopped on top.

Even just a couple pine trees or stain glass pieces would add a lot more life to it.

Can someone explain why the smaller, cheaper mechs get knee joints but the larger ones don't?
I was gonna get the Knuckles set but I saw that it had static knees so I just got the new space mech which was cheaper anyways.

It's really hit or miss, the Ninjago mech that I posted has full articulation, whereas other $10 ninjago mechs like another anon posted can barely move their arms or legs. In general, the more expensive ones have better articulation (the sonic ones just suck). I mentioned the $15 star wars and marvel mechs that Lego does and those are incredibly well done for the price.

Yeah but notice how small the vehicle is compared to the tires. Vehicles like the Ice planet MOC vehicle and the Antartic snow cruiser are far too heavy to actually drive on pack-ice/snow effectively. Also, it's the gap in the windshield since the ice planet windshield is a different rake angle to the city space one, so it leaves that gap for the cold wind to freeze you to death.

Oh yea, that annoyed me at first too. But there's literally no trans neon orange windscreen that would fit without me completely altering the way the canopy looked/functions, so I juat chalk it up to science or something.

It's ok, just focus on the praise that I gave you instead. Not too many people care about the doomed Antartic Snow Cruiser, but I think it's interesting and wish someone would make a MOC that learns from the design lessons we already learned. After building the Bonsai set, I'm pretty sure the frog IS the poop. On the Bonsai set, pink frogs are used to represent Cherry-Blossoms, so it's not too hard to imagine them using a brown frog to approximate a lump of shit.

I can respect that. Honestly, not even trying to be a smart ass hear, but why don't you give it a go on your own? I'm sure I could have given the vehicle treads and redesigned the cockpit, but I really didn't feel like altering anything if I could avoid it. I actually had a an iteration of that vehicle with the front 2 tires being treads and the back 2 tires being separate treads, but it would have made my brick link order costs double, so I didn't bother. I'd be interested in seeing your take on it though.

If you do, I hope you post it here because I'd like to see it. I don't have much experience with MOC'ing vehicles (I mainly do mechs), so I tend to keep things basic. Picrel is the most I've been able to do with a treaded ice vehicle MOC. And the only reason I was able to figure this out is because I had just made a mech that used treads.
