they opened up a bandai gashapon store thats fairly close to me a while back but it kinda sucked.
small but a good amount of space for machines but it seemed like they only had like 5 unique ones. havent been there since so hopefully it was only like that at the start.

Yeah I can see that sadly. It is a good idea with bad execution imo. I was going to try my hand at one until I realized it is likely I could spend $20 and just get weapons and no figure itself. Not worth the risk especially when that could buy me a nice meal or even nicer figures. Maybe they could release them in a package with figures and weapons instead?

The last project handler did proposed for releasing waves of sets but Bandai rejected it and pushed for online.
To me the division heads has no interest in the project even if it is popular and selling like hotcakes. They just want to can it and focus on more gundams.

A bit surprised since they released some aqua shooters to show in waves box sets things. Shane I never learner about the online side of things until after the orders closed. Plush online gacha is just a pain in the arse.
I went checking my local places for GQuest figs but they ain't in my local area yet....

Those were candy toys (or rather choco toys) but they were succeeded by Robot Concerto, a Gashapon line and even that died so only MS Ensemble, the Gundam licensed equivalent remains.

Gashapon is a hidden toy culture.
unless you live in Japan or know how to order toys through 3rd sites its impossible to get those toys

I love gashapons when i see them but its too much for me to go through several sites to get some tiny toy.
But yeah Gashapons are cool.

Check Japangemu it's an japanese peruvian that lives in JP, mostly focuses on vidya and old consoles but he also plays the gachas and has a channel for it too. His content is in spanish but has english captions and he does very well numberwise

Day 3 of Gashaponquesting.
Fingers are crossed for magical appearance of goods at place near work. Sadly it appears my luck stat is too low. I need to find some enchanted gear to increase it. Or roll better search stats.
Stalking the gashapon website for appearances is helpful, but still nothing within reasonable adventure distance.

The problem with modern gashapon is the price. You cant shake the thought your paying $20+ for capsule toys whereas years ago they were -$10. Check out the Capcom figure builder monster hunter series for some great sets.

A quick circumnavigation of the site reveals my quarry.
A quick visit to the change machine provides the appropriate ammunition.
Scoping out potential rivals, all I spy is a bored salary man, a fellow nerd( looking quite a bit more disheveled than my good self) who seems only interested in Idol stuff and a mother with her toddler looking at anpanman crap.

Unable to hold back, I mercilessly pound coin after coin after coin into it's waiting slot.
Coin after coin. Gacha ball after gacha ball, I continue in an animalistic orgy of insertion, caressing and violent penetration.
With my coins finally exhausted, I pull back to observe my conquest
7 gacha balls. 2 of them have decent weight.
What will the future behold.
I retire to check my spoils.

Finding a comfortable place, I grab a bag to tidy myself. I no longer have need for gacha balls, I only want the prizes within.
With shaking fingers I crack them open. The first and second reveal weapons packs. The third upper armour. Fourth lower armour. I'm mildly surprised by my luck. No doubles so far.
But I worry, where are the figures.
The fifth is the boy. Excellent! This will do nicely!
No things are tense. The unarmoured girl and a single weapon pack left. Will I double up or be lucky enough to not have to?

Absently, as if in a dream I crack it open.

The final weapon set !!! What incredible luck!!

Just for a bit of fun, I exhaustedly amble back to the change machine and swap another 1k.
2 more rolls.
Casually I glance around seeing if anyone else has any interest in my beautiful gacha machine goddess who has been so kind to me. Apparently not.
The nerd has left, the mother is still talking to her kid as they wander about and the salary man hasn't done anything at all. Odd.
Back to my beauty I go.

In a dream I gently pour my final offerings into her recess.
With an odd melancholy as we do the delightful deed two more times, I reach in and pull out another of the boy. Another of the unarmoured girl. This is fine.
Or gorgeous children for me to possibly sell on the open market. Or keep it I feel so.
And so completely satisfied, I turn away, give the machine one, final look and go on my merry way.

I'll always have these fond memories of our time together. And so with a feeling of extreme satisfaction, I leave and grab a coffee.

It'll fit on the plain body as the female knight comes as a body suit then get armour cones on two sets.
The chest armour has boob moulding so it'll look odd on base make body.
GPQ is meant to be modular so you can mix and match up all sorts of stuff

Depends, places with official distro for Bandai or other brands will usually adapt the machines to work with the local currency. This very old pic from wikipedia shows yujin machines in HK adapted with scanners for their Octopus card/cash card.
Smaller brands or niche markets may use a game token exchange system like you described.
Bandai Asia also stuffs certain lines into blind boxes instead of capsules so retailers can put them on shelves and bypass the gacha aspect altogether.
