>>10864806I wanted to say I came home with a bunch of toys from a con I went to in november, but looking back at the pic, the only toy related stuff was one figure, two model kits and a foam sword. The rest of the stuff I bought was just random merch like pins, shirts and comics. Even my trip to NYCC this past year was light on toy purchases, but I did only get to spend a half day there so really barely had time to shop. It's a far cry from my first few cons though, it just seems like it's getting harder to find good deals at these things.
>>10866234When I was a kid, my dad would get booths at all sorts of Toy Soldier shows and do the same exact thing. He'd make hundreds selling his home made soldiers....but then spend most of it on other stuff he'd find at the show. But that's a fairly common practice as most people wouldn't be selling toys there if they weren't also fans themselves.
Though I do feel you about not being able to find good toys on toy shelves these days. Even random kinda-want impulse buys aren't as frequent because prices don't really lend themselves to buying things "just because". Back in the day I'd never leave Target without one new figure, sometimes two. These days I can barely even find things I'd *want* to buy.
But that's not saying there aren't any good new toys out there, it's just that toy sections have shrunk drastically after TRU shut down in the US.
>>10866441While the Overwatch figures were *very* disappointing, they're perfectly fine if you find em on discount. Especially if you're actually a fan of the franchise. I still enjoy the few I have, but only cause I bought most of em half off. I think Tracer was the only one I paid full price for.
>>10866923>>10867915TRU was never not making money, it's just that when the company was bought out, it was saddled with debt put upon it from other companies in basically a financial shell game. TRU could've easily survived if it wasn't actively killed off by venture capitalists.
