Bird has the dubious advantage of using 2 very strong Stamina parts. HellsScythe and HellsChain will sell on their own by virtue of being the most used and balanced Stamina Type Blades.

I don't care about parts selling, I'm just talking about the character himself. Granted I've only read the manga, but Bird doesn't seem to understand what a balance type Beyblade is for. Like shit even Aiga figured that our during his battle with Lui that you can't just attack, attack, attack, and should understand that his Beyblade has some other unique traits to it. But no the kid keeps copying Kamen X not understand that Hellscythe can also excel at the long game if necessary.

I understand he's basically a newbie amongst a sea or pros, but so many chapters in somebody has to talk to this kid and help him understand what a balance type beyblade is for.

No need, it's a Metal Fight Beyblade.

Face Bolt is custom made and fully metal, and takes 2 Fusion Wheels and puts them together (not as manufacturer ever intended).

They're basically forcing parts together that just barely fit, hence not legal in a tournament.

The reason it feels like a slow burn for Bird is because he's meant to represent an absolute rookie. He's not Tyson who was already among the best in his neighborhood before Dragoon helped him go pro; it's not another Gingka situation where he was already one of the best in his country; this won't be like Burst where he can talk to his Stand and let them dictate the battles. Ironically the last example is actually the closest to fitting Bird, because most Burst protagonists started out by mimicking established bladers (Valt to Shu, Aiga to Valt, Drum to anybody etc) before they started listening to their Beyblade Stands and developed their own style.

However those don't exist in the X universe, so you basically have a newbie making all the newbie mistakes. Even the first floor examiner (wyvern's owner whatever his name was) mentions getting stronger in this universe is something that literal years. There's no such thing as 'magical beasts living in your Beyblade', 'blader spirit', or 'creating your own spirit out of sheer willpower'. In X it's all about skill and talent and nothing else, and it is mentioned that Bird is getting stronger at a faster pace than most rookies despite his failures. It's like watching someone new to fighting games getting trashed over and over again, but at the same time you know they're getting better.

Again this goes back to Bird not having a battle style of his own. The kid doesn’t think for himself, he just believes that if he goes all in like Dran Sword and Dagger that he’ll come out on top. Obviously this won’t work because X was at the top for years and understands how his Beyblade works. Bird is just some kid that picked a Beyblade and said ‘okay it’s mine now’. He has the talent to be a good blader, but he won’t get a win until a full year into the manga or halfway through season 1 of the anime I’m predicting.

It’s actually amazing Takara Tomy created a character with a worse record than any of the Kiyama family from Burst. That’s an accomplishment.

Hey for competitive settings, does a deck need to have beys from the same system? Like if two of them are bursts, would the third being from metal fight be valid? I want to make a deck of "Basically Satan" beyblades and aside from Curse Satan and Lucifer the End, I want to toss Diablo Nemesis in there but it's kind of the odd man out.
I'm thinking maybe tossing a longinus in there because "guy who stabbed christ" is at least somewhat on brand...but I don't really vibe with attack types.

I don't want to sound like one of those preachy fags, but I'm not in a rush to give Hasbro any money, they've really screwed the pooch with alot of other lines I'm into and seeing how they mangled Burst? Yeah, no thanks.

That's a bit hard. I'd say JP has better OP themes and instrumentals. I mean, compare "Let's Beyblade" to stuff like "Fighting Spirits", "Off the Chains", or "Go Ahead" and it's no contest. The instrumental tracks also have more effort put into them. I mean, they gave each blader their own theme music, and they all go hard.

Aliexpress is fine, they're the same as eBay. Just look for sellers with the actual TT in the photo and not super low prices. If you fall for a listing that is $2 and says "Flame brand"/"MQ Brand" then we can't help you anon.

Aliexpress and eBay are mostly Asia region releases, for Japanese region stuff you can use

- Suruga-ya (on a free shipping weekend)
- Amazon Japan (only worth it if you buy in bulk multiple items)
- Bey&Bricks (if you want an American store).

Bird is a punching bag/comic relief character. It's clear that the writing is favouring Ekusu as the self-insert power fantasy, but the writing doesn't know how to write a team.

You can remove Bird from the team entirely and it has no effect on Persona's win record, and no effect on Ekusu or Multi's character.

I'm okay with a punching bag character, that's totally fine. The issue is more Bird isn't progressing as a character compared to Multi. X we don't need to worry about defining because he's already good and is just exercising his right to enjoy things at his leisure. That's who he is and we're cool with it. Bird on the other hand is too goddamn fish out of water almost a year in. It'd be one thing if he was determined to improve and learn from his mistakes, but instead he spends every chapter reacting to every fucking thing as though it's his first day ever existing.

How many people have called Bird weak? Quite a fucking few at this point, yet he still lacks drive to actually get better and just takes the insults. It's like punching a sandbag with the sand spilling out. Shit Valt handled criticism better, and his emotions were all over the damn place in the first two seasons.

Well from what I've gathered in the Burst series one of the last string launchers was leaps and bounds ahead of the normal ripcords, but in X the ripcords are more sophisticated, using a few layers of gears to get more rotation out of the same length of ripcord than the previous gen. But you'd think the same consideration would have been made for the string launcher, too.

It's a double edged sword. Going for a max power Xtreme Dash results in self bursting with some notable frequency, and if you miss you end up falling out of the Xtreme pocket which gives your opponent 3 out of the 4 points needed to win. Like all Beyblade matches, most strategy comes from angle and positioning to control the first few seconds then letting jesus take the wheel.

I'm not too sure myself. Ball bits seem to outclass needle/spike in both stamina and the ability to recover from a hit. Combo strategies are probably kept to discords, as is the style of the times so you may need to look for those to get a better explanation of the mechanics.

The toyline's (and the anime's) main audience is still 6+, so 13/14 is already pretty old for a toy anime protagonist.

Older players are still there of course, just not the main focus, just like the actual adult players. There is not a substantial overlap between competitive players and people who watch the "Japanese children's cartoon".

The development team answered this on their YouTube channel a while back. Whether spikes/balls are OFFICIALLY classified as Defense or Stamina is just up to playtesting. They did product testing and determined that functionally, sharp tips were better at tanking hits and not toppling over.

In practice spikes/balls have been switching between Defense and Stamina classifications for years, and it doesn't matter. Most Defense stuff has been using rubber sharp or ball tips. Remember when they classified Variares as Defense and Ray Unicorno as Attack?

Speaking of that, one thing I noticed is that Suruga-ya has a weird definition of Used sometimes. I got a used Start Dash set from them because I couldn't find other stadiums easily. I get it, it's pretty much brand new. Everything in original packaging, the code inside was untouched. Same with some used Metal Fight deck set I got. Of course, not everything you get used from them will be like that, but it's more like the results were better than expected so far.

The Metal Fight stuff had a bit of a dent, but besides that it was new. 1: it's thick! like yeah that's why I wanted it but it's got a good feel the hand.
2: Jesus fuck, stickers! I had to bust out the gunpla tweezers and I hope X isn't that bad with tiny stickers.
3: the ability to spin it in my hand is nice.
Overall it's cool. Thinking about how this is a thing, and how far they've come from the plastic gen is insane. I kind of wish the purple ring was a softer material, even just rubber. I also want to swap out the disc for the one that activates on the second click rather than the third.

Special edition HellsScythe aside, the only X beys currently with stickers are the Bakuten Shoot remakes. There are also those custom gear chip stickers you can get in Japan, but those are a separate thing. Otherwise, there is not a single release that requires you to put stickers on them.

Feels bad. I need more "adds a hazard to the arena" type beyblades that won't break so quickly like the Bullet Driver. That said, I'm surprised the Bullet Driver never got a metal version to compensate for that shaft breaking.

Has gotten heavier with each generation to the point you're lucky to see anything hit hard anymore outside the scant few. Also due to their weight most beyblade in later generations of Burst hardly ever burst.

Stadium is purposely built to avoid stall outs that plagued Burst, also the beyblades actually burst.

I loved Burst during the earlier gens, but X is so much better and remedies so many problems.

Actually this is something I've been curious about. I've grown with beyblade, so I don't think I've gotten a proper grip of how big they've gotten. If anyone has a burst and bakuten shoot beyblade, would you mind placing them next to each other? I want to see how much bigger they've gotten over the years.
